The United Methodist Church is about to go through a major shift as an impending split in the denomination is about to occur. However, the Methodist denomination has been aware of a larger problem for several years, one that may be much closer on the horizon with the affects of the pandemic and the split over gay marriage.
The United Methodist denomination has had a growing financial concern for several years. Articles have been written about the fear of them maintaining their connections in the coming years. These financial concerns are very real for the smaller rural churches. As the denominational split looms closer, there is concern as to how the rural churches will be able to find renewal. The Methodist church uses terms such as "Hospice Church" to describe these once vibrant communities that have felt the decline of church attendance.
One such church decided to take matters into their own hands. The only thing holding them back was an outdated building and that uncertainty of stepping out in faith. But step out they did. They forfeited their buildings to the Methodist denomination and embarked on a journey of blind faith. Here is the beginning of that story.
