NY83 initially extended south to Frewsburg when it was assigned as part of the 1930 renumbering. The portion of the route between Frewsburg and Conewango Valley became part of US62 c.1932, resulting in the truncation of NY83 to its current southern terminus in the 1940s.
Route description
NY83 begins at US62 in the hamlet of Conewango Valley, located in the northeastern corner of the town of Ellington. The route heads north-northwestward, paralleling a pair of train tracks, and shortly after enters the village of Cherry Creek, where it intersects County Route70 (CR70) and CR68, respectively. Known as Main Street, it bows out to the east slightly, and subsequently takes on a due north path as it heads through the town of Cherry Creek. A couple miles later, it reaches the hamlet of Balcom Corners (located in the town of Villenova), a community situated at the junction of NY83 and the western terminus of NY322. Here, NY83 turns westward toward the community of Hamlet, where it intersects with CR72.
Route 83 is a state highway in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is completely within Dennis Township, New Jersey, running 3.81mi (6.13km) from an intersection with Route 47 to an intersection with U.S. Route 9 (US9). The route, which passes through woodland and some residential development, is also known as the Trooper Bertram T. Zimmerman III Memorial Highway in honor of a New Jersey State Police officer who was killed along Route 83 in 2004 while responding to an armed robbery.
Between 1927 and 1953, Route 83 was a part of Route 49, which originally ran south of Millville along Route 47 between Millville and South Dennis and along the entire length of Route 83. In 1953, the route became Route 83 when Route 49 was realigned to follow what was then Route 47 between Millville and Tuckahoe and Route 47 was aligned to follow Route S49 between South Dennis and Wildwood. In 2007, the state completed reconstruction of the intersection with Route 47 to include a traffic signal. A school bus accident has prompted the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) to install a traffic signal at the Y intersection of Route 83 and US 9.
US 69 begins at its southern terminus with SH 87 in Port Arthur. This intersection is also the southern terminus for US 96 and US 287, which are concurrent with US 69. US 69, US 96, and US 287 continue in a northwest, then west, route until its intersection with Interstate 10 in southern Beaumont. At this intersection, US 69, US 96, and US 287 merge with I-10. I-10/US 69/US 96/US 287 continue in a northerly direction through Beaumont for several miles. Just after the intersection with US 90, I-10 splits from the multiplex and resumes its easterly course, leaving US 69, US 96, and US 287 heading northwest through Beaumont. US 69 north of I-10 is also known officially known as Eastex Freeway, and is an official evacuation route, just as Interstate 69/US 59 heading north from Houston is known as Eastex Freeway as well.
U.S. Route66 (US66 or Route66), also known as the Will Rogers Highway and colloquially known as the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System. Route66 was established on November 11, 1926, with road signs erected the following year. The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in America, originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending at Santa Monica, California, covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940km). It was recognized in popular culture by both the hit song "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" and the Route66 television show in the 1960s.
Route66 served as a major path for those who migrated west, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, and it supported the economies of the communities through which the road passed. People doing business along the route became prosperous due to the growing popularity of the highway, and those same people later fought to keep the highway alive in the face of the growing threat of being bypassed by the new Interstate Highway System.
Despite its length it has comparatively few concurrencies with any Interstate highways, and those segments are short. In no place has it been decommissioned as a route.

US-83 traverses the Oklahoma panhandle along the western border of Beaver County, but in this brief 37-mile (60km) stretch it encounters no fewer than three other federal highways. Approximately ten miles from the Texas line, US-83 intersects US-412 in the hamlet of Bryan's Corner. Continuing its journey northward, the highway crosses the Beaver River, then intersects US-64 in Turpin. US-83 North and US-64 East are co-signed for three northbound miles, where US-64 turns eastward. At this intersection, US-270 West joins the highway, and together with US-83 proceeds northbound for the final six miles (10km) to the Kansas line.
