As of July 2012, there are two separate segments in service totalizing 107km: the Bucharest – Ploiești motorway (55km) and the Câmpia Turzii – Gilău segment (52km).
A short segment (6.5km) between the Bucharest Ring Road and the Bucharest downtown remains under construction, while an 8.7km segment between Gilău and Nădășelu (in the Cluj County) is under construction as of July 2015.
Bucharest – Brașov section
This motorway section (also called the "Snow Motorway") will cross the Carpathian Mountains along the Prahova Valley (the Comarnic – Brașov segment is considered the most difficult section to be built). It will also provide access to the future Terminal 2 of the Henri Coandă Airport and to the future Bucharest – Chișinău motorway, via the Ploiești South-East/Dumbrava interchange.
🤗 Hello folks! Today we're driving on A3 Motorway Bucharest - Ploiesti section, part of A3 Bucharest - Oradea.

“The development of Transylvania remains our priority,” he said, emphasizing support for lagging regions, the construction of motorways, and the Bucharest-Cluj Napoca (Kolozsvár)-Budapest high-speed railway.
Bucharest will spend 30 percent of the total funds on transport development, so there will also be major motorway upgrades towards Transylvania, which is “encouraging and reassuring”, he said.
