Titanoboa, /tiˌtɑːnoʊˈboʊə/; meaning "titanicboa," is an extinctgenus of snakes that lived about 60–58million years ago, during the Paleoceneepoch, a 10-million-year period immediately following the dinosaur extinction event. The only known species is Titanoboa cerrejonensis, the largest, longest, and heaviest snake ever discovered, which supplanted the previous record holder, Gigantophis.
Palaeobiology
While initially thought to have been an apex predator of the Paleocene ecosystem in which it lived, evidence has pointed to the genus being dominantly piscivorous; a trait unique to Titanoboa among all boids.
The size of T. cerrejonensis has also provided clues as to the earth's climate during its existence; because snakes are ectothermic, the discovery implies that the tropics, the creature's habitat, must have been warmer than previously thought, averaging about 30°C (90°F). The warmer climate of the Earth during the time of T. cerrejonensis allowed cold-blooded snakes to attain much larger sizes than modern snakes. Today, larger ectothermic animals are found in the tropics, where it is hottest, and smaller ones are found farther from the equator.
Today I will tell you about the ancient monsters that terrify everyone in the area. You will find out when and where these monsters lived. And then we will transfer them to our time. You will see whether the giants will take over our world and whether a person will be able to give a worthy rebuff. Something tells me it's going to be very hot today.

Titanoboa - The Biggest Snake That Ever Existed! / Documentary (English/HD)
In the caverns of the world’s largest coal mine in Columbia the remains of a giant, crocodile eating snake were found. The largest of its kind to exist, ranging from 40 - 43 feet long, the Titanoboa is thought to have spawned Amazonia legends and it reigned supreme during the Paleocene epoch, after the extinction of the Dinosaurs.
The objective of this video today is to analyze information regarding this prehistoric giant and to understand the theories regarding how it lived, what it ate and how it killed. Little is known about this reptile and its discovery provides new evidence regarding how the world was after the K-Pg extinction event. All will be featured in this broadcast.

What If the Giant Titanoboa Didn't Go Extinct
What's the largest snake in the world? Well, if we're talking about snakes alive today, then the longest snake is the Reticulated python. But the heaviest snake is the Anaconda. However, if you wanna know how big was the biggest snake that has ever lived, prepare to be amazed.
So, imagine you went back in time and are strolling through the jungles of the Paleocene. Ferns and trees are huge, and this one trunk is especially enormous. And then it moves. Tough luck! You’ve met the biggest snake that ever slithered on Earth – the Titanoboa. And Anacondas or Reticulated pythons would be like spaghetti next to this creature...

Until then, mining activity had helped the discovery of new species. While more layers of land miners extracted, more species were found and they seemed to be increasingly older. The problem was that this time the miners had announced that they were going to start digging in lower strata and that all the land from the time of the titanoboa would be removed, losing any trace of it. The paleontologists had to hurry.

Today, larger ectothermic animals are found in the tropics, where it is hottest, and smaller ones are found farther from the equator.
meet Titanoboa ... While the name might sound like the title of a B movie, Titanoboa cerrejonensis was slithering around in the Paleocene approximately 66-56 million years ago ... These fossils revealed that Titanoboa was a member of the Boidae family.
