King Vidor and THE CHAMP - The Art of Improvisation
In King Vidor's THE CHAMP (1931), the director began experimenting with the new freedoms that the era of sound had brought into filmmaking. Vidor -- ever on the lookout for new ways to improve his films -- saw improv not as an annoyance but as a boon. "I don't know whether you remember Jackie Cooper walking up on a roof of a house and singing a song and sticking cigarettes in his pocket -- well, this was Marion Davies' dressing room on the M-G-M lot, but it was ad-lib, off-the-cuff, because I was in the mood."

Alias the Champ (1949)
I don't own this video, but it's not available on any format and I want anyone interested in the Golden age of Wrestling of Gorgeous George to have the chance to see it.
Synopsis:
New York gangsters trying to muscle in on the California wrestling scene come up against a wrestler who won't knuckle under. They frame him for a murder, and his manager and a cop set out to clear his name, catch the real killers and save the reputation of the sport of wrestling.
It's a fairly standard movie of the genre, but getting to see George in action is a treat for all.
Stay tuned after the feature for a short called "Scrambled Legs".
