This is opinion based; it is what I consider to be some of the most important moments (it's impossible to fit everything into a 20 minute video), so feel free to comment anything that you consider important in film history that I may have left out! I will be covering more in future videos so stay tuned! This is my first video so any feedback is welcome.

The entire history of film or at least stuff I like and did not forget. Here I will share random facts from the silent era to streaming services. I will also rank the best films for every decade. Sorry to disappoint you but you might actually learn something. To make this I had to watch hundreds of movies. I actually can’t stand films now. This took to much work so now I only want to make short videos.

Movies are Magic: Crash Course Film History #1
Well, they're not really "magic." Maybe "illusion" is a better way to say it. As we begin this journey of the history of cinema, we need to understand how movies trick our brains into even understanding that a movie is a movie. In this episode of Crash Course Film History, Craig takes us down the road of the very first inventors of motion pictures.

History of Movies in 3 Minutes | Fun Facts and History for Kids | Educational Videos by Mocomi
https://mocomi.com/ presents: The History of Movies
Watch this interesting video telling you how moving pictures or movies came into being.
The story of the movies begins in the 1870s with Edward Muybridge.
He was one of the pioneers of photography and you could even say he is the father of the moving image.
He met a man named Leland Stanford who was occupied with a popular question of the day- Is there a moment when all four feet of a horse are in the air during a gallop?
Leland asked Muybridge to settle the debate once and for all.
In order to do this Muybridge set up 12 cameras along the edge of a racetrack. Then he attached string across the track that would trigger the shutters on the cameras when the horse touched them.
He took the 12 images from the racetrack and copied the s...

THE EVOLUTION OF CINEMA (1878 - 2017)
********************************************************************
For this video I have selected the most popular movies throught the history, basing on their comercial success and relevance. Before seeing the video you should know a few things:
- I know that I forgot a lot of very important movies in the history of the cinema, but you have to understand that I cannot include all because the video would be incredibly long.
- As I said in the last video, feel free to mention the movies that I have forgotten in the comments section to expand the video content. In the same way, if any date is incorrect you can correct it.
- I have not selected those films that marked the development of a genre or film stream. I have selected the most popular and bet...

The History of Film - One Minute History
The film industry was set in motion in 1891 when Thomas Edison successfully demonstrated the Kinetoscope, a tool that allowed one person at a time to view moving pictures. A few years later in Paris, the Lumière brothers debuted “Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory” — a short film widely regarded as the first commercialized movie. In 1927, Hollywood released The Jazz Singer, the first feature-length movie to include audio. This ushered in the “golden age” of film, dominated by major studios such as MGM and Warner Brothers. The introduction of the “blockbuster” then took movies to a whole new level, with franchises such as Jaws in 1975 and Star Wars in 1977. Today, streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon continue to transform the way viewers consume movies.

Cinematography is the illusion of movement by the recording and subsequent rapid projection of many still photographic pictures on a screen.
Originally a product of 19th-century scientific endeavour, cinema has become a medium of mass entertainment and communication, and today it is a multi-billion-pound industry.
#WHOINVENTEDCINEMA
No one person invented cinema.
However, in 1891 the Edison Company successfully demonstrated a prototype of the Kinetoscope, which enabled one person at a time to view moving pictures.
The first public Kinetoscope demonstration took place in 1893. By 1894 the Kinetoscope was a commercial success, with public parlours established around the world.
The first to present projected moving pictures to a paying audience were the Lumière brothers in December 1895 in Paris, France.
They used a device of their own making, the Cinématographe, which was a camera, a projector and a film printer all in one.
#WHATWEREEARLYFILMSLIKE
At first, films were very short, sometimes only a few minutes or less.
They were shown at fairgrounds, music halls, or anywhere a screen could be set up and a room darkened.
Subjects included local scenes and activities, views of foreign lands, short comedies and newsworthy events.
The films were accompanied by lectures, music and a lot of audience participation.
Although they did not have synchronised dialogue, they were not ‘silent’ as they are sometimes described.
THE RISE OF THE FILM INDUSTRY.
By 1914, Europe, Russia and Scandinavia were the dominant industries; America was much less important.
Films became longer and storytelling, or narrative, became the dominant form.
As more people paid to see movies, the industry which grew around them was prepared to invest more money in their production, distribution and exhibition, so large studios were established.
The First World War greatly affected the film industry in Europe, and the American industry grew in relative importance.
The first 30 years of cinema were characterised by the growth and consolidation of an industrial base, the establishment of the narrative form, and refinement of technology.
ADDING COLOUR.
Colour was first added to black-and-white movies through hand colouring, tinting, toning and stencilling.
By 1906, the principles of colour separation were used to produce so-called ‘natural colour’ moving images with the British Kinemacolor process, first presented to the public in 1909.
Kinemacolor was primarily used for documentary (or ‘actuality’) films, such as the epic With Our King and Queen Through India (also known as The Delhi Durbar) of 1912, which ran for over 2 hours in total.
ADDING SOUND.
The first attempts to add synchronised sound to projected pictures used phonographic cylinders or discs.
The first feature-length movie incorporating synchronised dialogue, The Jazz Singer (USA, 1927), used the Warner Brothers’ Vitaphone system, which employed a separate record disc with each reel of film for the sound.
CINEMA’S GOLDEN AGE.
By the early 1930s, nearly all feature-length movies were presented with synchronised sound and, by the mid-1930s, some were in full colour too.
The advent of sound secured the dominant role of the American industry and gave rise to the so-called ‘Golden Age of Hollywood’.
During the 1930s and 1940s, cinema was the principal form of popular entertainment, with people often attending cinemas twice a week.
Ornate ’super’ cinemas or ‘picture palaces’, offering extra facilities such as cafés and ballrooms, came to towns and cities; many of them could hold over 3,000 people in a single auditorium.
In Britain, the highest attendances occurred in 1946, with over 31 million visits to the cinema each week.

This documentary concisely covers the vastly complex history of the origins of Cinema. From the very first zoetropes and magic lanterns to the very first motion capture film cameras. Covering the key individuals involved in the creation of cinema, such as, Albertus Magnus, Eadweard Muybridge, Louis Le Prince and the Lumiere Brothers. Any film fan or anyone with an interest in the history of cinema will hopefully find this both interesting and enlightening.
Note: The narration was re-recorded as some people have commented that the audio is too quiet in this video. In the new narration, I have also made an addition at 12:50, inserting a part about Louis Le Prince. Also at 18:05, I have made some minor amendments to the Georges Melies section. Please see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBahe2_sZk0
It is the first documentary I have ever made. Any questions please ask.

https://mocomi.com/ presents: The History of Movies
He took the 12 images from the racetrack and copied the silhouettes onto a disc. These images or frames could be viewed in succession on a machine that he had invented called the Zoopraxiscope that made it seem like the images themselves were moving.
It is considered the stepping stone to motion pictures as we know it.

I have selected the most popular and better known ones by people. That's why I've included so many American movies and less of other countries, because a lot of the most famous movies throughout history are from the U.S.
- As I did in ‘’The evolution of music’’ video, this video is made with the intention of collecting the most famous films of the history in one place, and for people to discover new works that perhaps did not know from this wonderful art.
Again, this is gonna be a long ride throught the history of cinematography, so take a sit and enjoy.
Thanks for watching!

It was just a regular night. Keanna was in the kitchen, cooking her little sister something to eat, when she heard the doorbell ring. To her surprise, it was the police. The officer asked for Keanna’s mom and dad, so she went to get her parents. The police officer stressed the importance of Keanna and her sister going upstairs, but Keanna and her sister were being nosey and listened to the entire conversation.

‘Cackling’ Kamala Harris cements herself as the ‘worst vice president in US history’
The “cackling nincompoop” Kamala Harris has cemented her place in United States history as the “worst vice president” after her performance this week, Sky News host Rita Panahi says.
“After her cringeworthy performance in recent weeks, she had the opportunity to redeem herself during a vitally important trip to Poland and Romania as Russia's invasion of Ukraine plunges the region into a deepening crisis. The White House said her visit will demonstrate the strength and unity of the NATO Alliance,” Ms Panahi said.
“What it actually did was demonstrate the utter ineptitude of the vice president.
“You might be wondering what prompted that mad cackling during such a serious press conference, was there perhaps a moment of lightness during such a dark time. Well, no, that embarrassing performa...

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Can I call you baby? Can you be my friend?
Can you be my lover up until the very end?
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend
Stick by my side even when the world is givin' in, yeah
[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, oh, oh, don't, don't you worry
I'll be there whenever you want me
[Chorus]
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
Know I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'd do the worst
[Post-Chorus]
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
[Verse 2]
If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no one else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim
[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, oh, oh, don't, don't you worry
I'll be there whenever you want me
[Chorus]
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
Know I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth, yeah
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first (You first)
And for you, girl, I swear I'd do the worst
[Post-Chorus]
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
[Outro]
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
Know I'm not perfect but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'd do the worst

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Can I call you baby? Can you be my friend?
Can you be my lover up until the very end?
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend
Stick by my side even when the world is givin' in, yeah
[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, oh, oh, don't, don't you worry
I'll be there whenever you want me
[Chorus]
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
Know I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'd do the worst
[Post-Chorus]
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
[Verse 2]
If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no one else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim
[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, oh, oh, don't, don't you worry
I'll be there whenever you want me
[Chorus]
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
Know I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth, yeah
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first (You first)
And for you, girl, I swear I'd do the worst
[Post-Chorus]
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh

It was just a regular night. Keanna was in the kitchen, cooking her little sister something to eat, when she heard the doorbell ring. To her surprise, it was the police. The officer asked for Keanna’s mom and dad, so she went to get her parents. The police officer stressed the importance of Keanna and her sister going upstairs, but Keanna and her sister were being nosey and listened to the entire conversation.
As they listened from the bathroom, Keanna and her sister overheard their mom getting the worst news of her life. The police officer told them that their brother had been killed in his apartment. It was one of the hardest moments of Keanna’s life. She heard her parents screaming and comforted her sister and she started crying hysterically.
Her mom pulled herself together and told her and her sister to go upstairs and pray. They prayed all night long.
Over the next few days, Keanna and her family had to make arrangements for her brother’s funeral. She was so thankful that she had her family as a support system, and she doesn’t know how she would have been able to get through any of it without them.
Later that week, Keanna started to imagine having to see her brother in the casket. She didn’t think she was going to have to see her brother like that for so many years – not at the tender age of 22 years old. The entire experience was emotional and really hard to get through, but she was so happy she had her family by her side.
Time has gone by and Keanna still has days that she’s sad – whether she’s at school, with friends or just hanging at home, she has difficult days. Her mom cries every single day, and her dad keeps his feelings to himself. Her sister always brings up her brother and memories they shared.
Keanna’s advice is to always treasure the moments you have with the people you love because you never know when they might pass away.

Well, no, that embarrassing performance was prompted by a serious question about the unfolding refugee crisis. ”
Ms Harris' laughter occurred after she was asked if the US would make a specific allocation for Ukrainian refugees.
"It's little wonder that Ukrainian President Zelensky's former press secretary said this of Kamala after that chuckle happy performance with the Polish president,” Ms Panahi said.
"'It would be a tragedy if this woman won the presidency'."
“Never mind winning it, the fear is she'll be installed president during Biden's first term should the 79-year-old's health decline further.
“But put the mad chucking to one side – Kamala Harris' incompetence and complete lack of foreign policy acumen was on display every time she actually answered a question.
“Kamala Harris is proof of what can happen when you disregard meritocracy and embrace identity politics – Kamala is what happens when you choose people for key roles not according to their ability, experience or acumen but according to their gender or their skin colour.”
