The White Horse was a tavern in Boston, Massachusetts, in the 17th and 18th centuries. A well-known gathering place in colonial Boston, it "had a large square sign projecting over the footway, on which was delineated a white charger." Located near Boylston Street, the White Horse was frequently mentioned as a wayfinder to other establishments nearby.
A number of taverns were clustered on old Newbury Street in the 18th century: Lamb Tavern, Liberty Tavern, and Red Lion. For at least some years of its existence, possibly around 1798, the White Horse building "was of wood and of two stories," with 26 windows.
Prior to 1700, the White Horse was owned by the William Colburn (aka William Colburne) family. Under the ownership of Thomas Brattle (1700-ca.1740), the tavern was managed by Thomas Chamberlain (licensed in 1717), and William Cleeres (licensed in 1718). After Brattle, the tavern was owned by Jonathan Dwight (1740-ca.1765?). Managers included Mrs. Moulton (licensed in 1764). The next owner was Joseph Morton (1765–1791). In May, 1787, Israel Hatch of Attleboro took over as manager of the tavern. Subsequent owners included Joseph Morton's son, Perez Morton (1791-ca.1798); and Aaron Emmes (1798).
White Horse Tavern is a historic inn and tavern located in Douglassville, Amity Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The building is situated on the banks of the Schuylkill River. It was originally built in 1765, and is a 2 1/2-story, five bay, sandstone building with a gable roof. A 2 1/2-story, three bay, addition was constructed in 1780. The building operated as an inn and tavern until 1870, when it was converted to a three-family residence. The house was obtained in 1971, and subsequently restored by the Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County. It is part of the Morlatton Village historic site.
White Horse Tavern is a historic inn and tavern located in East Fallowfield Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1816, and is a two-story, five bay, stuccoed stone building with a gable roof in the Federal style. It features a formal pedimented entrance. The tavern was built for Robert Young, who also built the Robert Young House located across the intersection.
The White Horse is a Russian TV serial broadcast in 1993. The film, in 10 episodes, was directed by Gelii Ryabov. It presents the Russian civil war in Siberia from 1917–1920 and the struggle of the White Russians under the command of Admiral Alexander Kolchak against the Bolshevik forces, until his final defeat.
Plot
The series was the first important cinematographic production after the fall of the Soviet Union to address the subject of the Russian Revolution and Civil War from 1917 to 1920. The series presents the fates of several characters on both sides of the conflict, caught in the turmoil of events beyond their control. It also shows important events which took place in that period, such as the assassination of Tsar Nicholas II and his family, as well as the struggle of Admiral Alexander Kolchak, head of state of the counter-revolutionary Russia until his defeat by the Bolsheviks. The director does not take sides and presents the revolution and the civil war as a cruel and senseless confrontation between two parts of the people, in which nobody is a real winner and all ordinary people are losers.
The White Horse is a pub in Parsons Green, Fulham, London, known colloquially by many as "The Sloaney Pony", a reference to the "Sloane Rangers" who frequent it. It is a popular and busy pub which is featured in many good guides.
The White Horse is an historic pub. A coaching inn has existed on the present site since at least 1688. The pub was first mentioned in the Spectator in August 1712 in relation to the popular annual Parson's Green Fair at which ale tapping was an eagerly awaited event.
The White Horse was also the meeting place of the old Fulham AlbionCricket Club, one of the pioneer cricket clubs in England.
The Oldest Bar in America - White Horse Tavern, Newport RI
The White Horse Tavern is the oldest bar in the United States. No ifs, ands or butts.
The White Horse Tavern was built in the 1652 as a home, but then turned into a tavern in 1673. Since then its been a meeting house for the Rhode Island legislature, seen patriots and revolutionaries pass through its doors, and even sheltered a pirate hiding out from the Brits.
Today the White Horse Tavern features fine dining and an elegant setting, but the bar is still there (two of them, one downstairs and one upstairs). They are still serving up the drinks just like they did 300 plus years ago.
If you go here the drink to try is a Darn and Stormy, the unofficial drink of Newport and the area. This place is a must see if you're a bar aficionado!

The culmination of a lifelong dream from a local police officer/real estate agent husband-wife duo, this upscale neighborhood resto/bar's modeled after an iconic 1700s Winchester pub and is slinging hearty American fare in the 84-seat former Black Horse Bootery, which's been richly outfitted w/ a 36ft mahogany bar, floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, brown leather booths, copper ceiling tiles, and a row of bifold windows that can't decide whether they prefer to be opened or closed.
