The Town is a 2010 American crime drama film, directed, co-written by and starring Ben Affleck, adapted from Chuck Hogan's novel Prince of Thieves. The film opened in theaters in the United States on September 17, 2010, at number one with more than $23 million and to positive reviews. Jeremy Renner was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.
Plot
Four lifelong friends from the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston, Douglas "Doug" MacRay, James "Jem" Coughlin, Albert "Gloansy" MacGloan, and Desmond "Dez" Elden, rob a bank. They take the manager, Claire Keesey, hostage, but release her unharmed. When they find out Claire lives in their neighborhood, Doug begins to follow her to find out how much she has told the authorities, and to make sure that Jem does not eliminate her as a witness. Soon a romance grows between them, which Doug hides from the gang. As they grow closer, Doug tells Claire of his search for his long-lost mother, whom he believes went to live with his aunt in Tangerine, Florida. He also recounts his chance to be a professional hockey player which he threw away for a life of crime, following in his father's footsteps. She in turn tells Doug that she saw a tattoo on one of the robbers, and he realizes that she can identify Jem and send them all to jail. He knows that Jem will kill her if he discovers the truth, so he persuades her that the authorities cannot protect her, and she decides not to tell the police.
The Town is a novel by the American author William Faulkner, published in 1957, about the fictional Snopes family of Mississippi. It is the second of the "Snopes" trilogy, following The Hamlet (1940) and completed by The Mansion (1959).

BILLY J. KRAMER & THE DAKOTAS - 'Chinese Girl' / 'Town Of Tuxley Toy Maker Part 1 (International Polydor Production NH-591014) April 1967
I bought this record recently from an Australian record dealer for the mod beat flavoured B-Side 'Chinese Girl', which incidentally, is nothing like Billy J. Kramer's usual pop efforts. Maybe by 1967 Billy knew that his days as a successful pop singer were numbered if he didn't embrace the new hip sound that was happening in Britain during the mid sixties.
His backing band were still The Dakotas who provide a crunching backbeat on 'Chinese Girl' which was co-written by Mick Green and Robin MacDonald. Kramer's vocals are perfect and really add to the killer mix of mod and freakbeat.

Take My Hand BILLY J KRAMER with THE DAKOTAS
A 1966 b-side from Billy and the boys that failed to chart. As a little exercise, listen to how he pronounces the word "care" in this song - then compare it with how the Everly Brothers pronounce it in their song, "I Wonder If I Care As Much" (also uploaded on this channel today).

The A-Side is a beautiful toy-town psych interlude that is most interesting to me. It was written by the Gibb brothers, who also added backing vocals.
