As Zev Love X, he formed the group KMD, in 1988 with his younger brother DJ Subroc and another MC called Rodan. When Rodan left the group, Zev found another MC to replace Rodan named Onyx the Birthstone Kid.A&R rep Dante Ross learned of KMD through the hip hop group 3rd Bass, and signed the group to Elektra Records. Dumile and KMD's recording debut came on 3rd Bass's song "The Gas Face" from The Cactus Album, followed in 1991 with KMD's album Mr. Hood, which became a minor hit through its singles "Peachfuzz", "Who Me?" and heavy video play on cable TV's Yo! MTV Raps and Rap City.
In all versions the story initially revolves around a magical mask which gives any wearer limitless power and an altered appearance, characterized by a large set of teeth and a green head. The mask affects the personality of the wearer by removing all personal social inhibitions, causing the wearer to become insane. The book was inspired by a combination of earlier characters: The Joker and Steve Ditko's Creeper, as well as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In the original comic stories, characters who wore the Mask would become dangerous and cruel antiheroes with ultraviolent tendencies, even if this was not the wearer's original intention. When adapted into a film, the violence was toned down to make the Mask only as dangerous as its wearer. In both the 1994 film and animated television show, the main character Stanley Ipkiss was depicted as a benevolent yet mischievous superhero. The same is true of the 2005 sequel's main character Tim Avery, who is named after Tex Avery.
It also stars Alan Cumming as the god of mischief, Loki, whom Odin has ordered to find the Mask. It co-stars Traylor Howard, Kal Penn, Steven Wright, and Bob Hoskins as Odin. Ben Stein makes a brief reappearance within the first few minutes of the film as Dr. Arthur Neuman from The Mask to reestablish the relationship with the mask and Loki. Unlike the previous film which was more adult oriented, this film is family-friendly as the tone is much lighter and more comical than the first one. The film was widely considered to be a front runner for the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Picture, but lost to Dirty Love.
"The Mask" is the eighth episode of the television series Gotham. It premiered on FOX on November 10, 2014 and was written by John Stephens, and directed by Paul Edwards. The Real Reason MF DOOM Wore A Mask
On October 31, 2020, rapper MF Doom passed away from unknown causes at the age of 49. The performer, born Daniel Dumile, was famous for the large metal mask he wore on stage, which looked like something a comic book villain would don. However, the origin of the mask doesn’t lie in comic books, but something far older than that: gladiators. The British-born, American-raised rapper first saw the mask when the film "Gladiator" was popular, and when a friend recommended it, the rest was history. Let’s take a look at the real reason why MF Doom always wore a mask on stage.

MF DOOM TRIBUTE 4 Mystery Mask - FatJoe vibe
RIP to the one and only MF DOOM, a true mastermind whose lyrical genius and masked mystique changed hip-hop forever. We created Mad Villainry: A Tribute in respect to the legacy he’s left behind—a project inspired by his boundary-pushing artistry and unmatched lyrical craft. DOOM’s influence shaped our sound, pushing us to honor his style while exploring new realms, just as he would. Rest easy, DOOM—the villain lives on through the beats, bars, and spirit of the underground.
