The Regimental Colonel-in-Chief is The Countess of Wessex and the regimental motto is Non Nobis Sed Patriæ, "Not for ourselves but for our country".
Cap Badge
The crown represents service to the Sovereign. The design commemorates the former units which were amalgamated in 1936 to form the regiment. The general outline of the badge is derived from the badge of The Lincoln Regiment and the escallop, an emblem used by the former County of Welland, is from the badge of The Lincoln and Welland Regiment. "LINCOLN and WELLAND" is a form of the regimental title and "NON NOBIS SED PATRIAE is the motto of the regiment meaning "Not for Ourselves but for Our Country".
Lineage
The Lincoln and Welland Regiment originated in St. Catharines, Ontario on 18 March 1863 as The 19th Battalion Volunteer Militia (Infantry), Canada. It was redesignated as the 19th "Lincoln Battalion of Infantry" on 28 September 1866; as the 19th St. Catharines Battalion of Infantry on 1 October 1897; as the 19th St. Catharines Regiment on 8 May 1900; as the 19th "Lincoln" Regiment on 2 November 1912; and, following the Great War, as The Lincoln Regiment on 1 May 1920. On 15 December 1936, it was amalgamated with The Lincoln and Welland Regiment and redesignated The Lincoln and Welland Regiment. During the Second World War it was redesignated as the 2nd (Reserve) Battalion, The Lincoln and Welland Regiment on 7 November 1940, retunring to its pre-war designation as The Lincoln and Welland Regiment on 15 February 1946.
The city is located in the centre of Niagara. Within a half hour or less, residents can travel to Niagara Falls, Niagara-On-The-Lake, St. Catharines, Port Colborne and Buffalo. It has been traditionally known as the place where rails and water meet, referring to the railways from Buffalo to Toronto and Southwestern Ontario, and the waterways of Welland Canal and Welland River, which played a great role in the city's development. The city is separated by the Welland River and Welland Canal which links Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
The city was first settled in 1788 by the United Empire Loyalists. On 19 October 1814, Canadian forces led by George Hay, 8th Marquess of Tweeddale, met an American raiding party, numbering approximately nine hundred, near the eastern edge of the present community during the Battle of Cook's Mills. After an intense skirmish, the Americans retreated to Buffalo, New York. Cook's Mills was the second to last engagement of the War of 1812 on Canadian soil.
Welland riding consists of the cities of Welland, Thorold, and Port Colborne, the Township of Wainfleet, and the part of the City of St. Catharines lying south of a line drawn from the western city limit east along St. Paul Street West, northeast along St. Paul Crescent, east and south along Twelve Mile Creek, and east along Glendale Avenue to the eastern city limit.

Geography
Niagara Centre consists of the cities of Welland, Thorold, and Port Colborne, and the part of the City of St. Catharines lying south of a line drawn from the southern city limit north along First Louth St, east along St. Paul Street West, northeast along St. Paul Crescent, east and south along Twelve Mile Creek, and east along Glendale Avenue to the eastern city limit.
History
Welland was originally created in 1867 by the British North America Act. It consisted initially of the Townships of Bertie, Crowland, Humberstone, Stamford, Thorold, and Willoughby, and the Villages of Chippawa, Clifton, Fort Erie, Thorold and Welland.

"F*CK Hate" | Protest and Counter-Protest at Drag Brunch in Welland, ON
Some of what happened in Welland, ON as protestors attempted to shut down (or otherwise disrupt) a #drag brunch event. Fortunately, the homophobic, #transphobic protestors were outnumbered 4 or 5 to 1. The best that the small goblin army that showed up to celebrate their hate and ignorance could muster was just to chant “groomers,” call everyone a horrible word (that I won’t repeat here), and to waive Q-Anon flags (they bought in their flat earth/space laser/lizard people starter kit).
Thank you to those counter-protestors that showed up and helped facilitate the drag brunch event and to the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) that did their best to keep the peace.

Great Lakes Sailing - Welland Canal HD time-lapse
The Welland Canal is a ship canal in Canada that runs 42 km (27.0 miles) from Port Colborne, Ontario on Lake Erie to Port Weller, Ontario on Lake Ontario. As part of the St. Lawrence Seaway, the canal allows ships to traverse the Niagara Escarpment and avoid Niagara Falls.
FOR THE SPRINKLERS QUESTION HERE IS YOUR ANSWER:
"Hogging is a term used when a vessel is bent up in the middle due to any number of factors. On the Great Lakes this happens to vessels in hot weather where the upper part is heated more than the submerged part. That's why you see boats with sprinkler systems spraying cool water over the decks to reduce this hogging.
FOR THE YELLOW BOOM THAT LOWER IN THE FRONT OF THE SHIP HERE IS YOUR ANSWER (COPY FROM COMMENT):
It's a safety check to prevent damage to the lock gates by...

It's a safety check to prevent damage to the lock gates by making sure no part of the bow extends over the gates which could cause damage to the gates when the ship is lowered. In the down position, the sensor cable on the yellow gate is slightly below the top of the gates. If it touches anything in it's travel then some part of the bow is too far forward and the ship will have to reverse slightly .

Welcome to a relaxing visual journey down some of Welland’s Main Streets on a beautifully sunny fall day from a bird’s eye view around 100 feet up. Sunday October 23, 2022 - DJI Mini 3 Pro with DJI Wide Angle Lens.
Starting at the Niagara Regional Exhibition (Welland Fair Grounds) on Niagara Street heading to Division Street than East Main Street past the HWY406/HWY140/E.Main St Roundabout over the Welland Canal / East Main Street Tunnel and then all the way back to the starting point (Welland Fair Grounds).
Sun Oct 23/22 - beautiful sunny, fall day, colourful trees, gentle warm breeze, t-shirt weather. Perfect day for an aerial tour down a few of Welland’s main streets. This was a team effort (driver, flyer, spotter), and I hope you enjoy it. Now that racing is finished for the season I am looking for some new fly-deas. If you have any ideas, please post in comments. Thanks :)
It’ll be interesting to look back in a few years to see how Welland has changed.
