The Daily Mirror is a British national daily tabloid newspaper founded in 1903. It is owned by parent company Trinity Mirror. From 1985 to 1987, and from 1997 to 2002, the title on its masthead was simply The Mirror. It had an average daily print circulation of 962,670 in March 2014. Its Sunday sister paper is the Sunday Mirror.
Originally pitched to the middle class reader, it was transformed into a working-class newspaper after 1934, in order to reach a large new audience. The Mirror has had a number of owners. It was founded by Alfred Harmsworth, who sold it to his brother Harold Harmsworth (from 1914 Lord Rothermere) in 1913. In 1963 a restructuring of the media interests of the Harmsworth family led to the Mirror becoming a part of International Publishing Corporation. The Mirror was owned by Robert Maxwell between 1984 and 1991. The paper went through a protracted period of crisis after his death before merging with the regional newspaper group Trinity in 1999 to form Trinity Mirror.
The Daily Mirror was an afternoon paper established by Ezra Norton in Sydney, Australia in 1941, gaining a licence from the Minister for Trade and Customs, Eric Harrison, despite wartime paper rationing. In October 1958, Norton and his partners sold his newspapers to the Fairfax group, which immediately sold it to Rupert Murdoch's News Ltd. It was merged with its morning sister paper The Daily Telegraph on 8 October 1990 to form The Daily Telegraph-Mirror, which in 1996 reverted to The Daily Telegraph, in the process removing the last vestige of the old Daily Mirror.

Prince Harry and Daily Mirror publisher settle as Prince takes aim at Piers Morgan
Prince Harry and the publisher of the Daily Mirror newspaper have settled the remainder of his hacking claim against the company.
Speaking on behalf of the Duke, his lawyer singled out former Mirror editor Piers Morgan, adding: "That includes Mr Morgan, who as editor, knew perfectly well what was going on, as the judge held.
Mr Morgan hit back on X: "I totally agree with Prince Harry that ruthless intrusion into the private lives of the Royal Family for financial gain is utterly reprehensible… and I hope he stops doing it."

Prince Harry takes the stand in Daily Mirror lawsuit: "Every single article has caused me distress"
Prince Harry didn’t hold back during his testimony Tuesday against the publisher of the Daily Mirror, whom he has accused of using extreme, often illegal practices to obtain scoops on his personal life.
Harry has accused Mirror Group Newspaper of invading his privacy on an “industrial scale,” including hacking his phone to illegally listen to his voicemails.
The prince, who wore a dark suit and tie to the courthouse, claimed these messages often contained sensitive information about his personal relationships and whereabouts.
Mirror Group has denied all phone hacking allegations made by Harry.
