Opened in January 2007, the contemporary shopping mall sits on a site directly above Clarke Quay MRT station. Managed by Far East Organization, the mall has five levels totalling 200,000 square feet (19,000m2) of retailing space, and houses Singapore's first purpose-built SOHO units. The mall has a distinctive Japanese theme, with a wide variety of Japanese shops and restaurants as tenants. The mall's developer, Far East Organization, planned to turn Clarke Quay Central into a Japanese food paradise in the style of Decks Tokyo Beach, a popular waterfront shopping and entertainment complex in Tokyo's Odaiba district.
The Central Bank of Myanmar (Burmese: မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော်ဗဟိုဘဏ်; MLCTS: myan ma naing ngam taw ba ho bhan IPA:[mjəmà nàinŋàndɔ̀ bəhòʊbàn]; abbreviated CBM) is the central bank of Myanmar (formerly Burma). It was established under the Central Bank of Myanmar Law in 1990.
Organisation
Its headquarters are in Yankin Township, Yangon, Yangon Division, and it is headed by a 17-member board of directors, headed by Than Nyein. The Central Bank of Myanmar is operated by the Ministry of Finance and Revenue, which is a government ministry headed by Major-General Hla Tun. The Deputy Minister of Revenue and Finance is Colonel Hla Thein Swe.
Role
CBM has liberalised the financial organisations for competition, efficiency and integration into the regional financial system. As of the end of December 2007, there are 15 domestic private banks and 13 representative offices of foreign banks and three representative offices of foreign insurance companies in Myanmar. According to the changes in the economic
requirements of the country, the Central Bank rate has been increased from 10 percent to 12 percent since 1 April 2006.
A central bank, reserve bank, or monetary authority is an institution that manages a state'scurrency, money supply, and interest rates. Central banks also usually oversee the commercial banking system of their respective countries. In contrast to a commercial bank, a central bank possesses a monopoly on increasing the monetary base in the state, and usually also prints the national currency, which usually serves as the state's legal tender.
The primary function of a central bank is to control the nation's money supply (monetary policy), through active duties such as managing interest rates, setting the reserve requirement, and acting as a lender of last resort to the banking sector during times of bank insolvency or financial crisis. Central banks usually also have supervisory powers, intended to prevent bank runs and to reduce the risk that commercial banks and other financial institutions engage in reckless or fraudulent behavior. Central banks in most developed nations are institutionally designed to be independent from political interference. Still, limited control by the executive and legislative bodies usually exists.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, CBRT (Turkish:Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası, TCMB) is the central bank of Turkey and is founded as a joint stock company on 11 June 1930.
Shares of the CBRT are divided into four classes. Class A shares belong solely to the Turkish Treasury. Class B and Class C shares are allocated to national banks operating in Turkey, banks other than national banks and privileged companies. Finally, Class D shares are allocated to Turkish commercial institutions and to real and legal persons of Turkish nationality.
The CBRT determines, at its own discretion, the monetary policy to pursue and the policy instruments to use in achieving price stability in Turkey. This implies that the CBRT enjoys instrument independence. In order to attain its objective of price stability, the CBRT has implemented a full-fledged inflation targeting regime since 2006.
The preparations to establish a central bank of Turkey began in 1926, but the organization was established on 3 October 1931 and opened officially on 1 January 1932. The Bank had, originally, a privilege of issuing banknotes for a period of 30 years. In 1955, this privilege was extended until 1999. Finally it was prolonged indefinitely in 1994.

What is a Central Bank?
Every country has a central bank, in the U.S. it is the Federal Reserve, in the UK it is the Bank of England and for Europe it is The European Central Bank. The primary function of a central bank is to manage the nation's money supply, through active duties such as managing interest rates, setting the reserve requirement, and acting as a lender of last resort to the banking sector during times of bank insolvency or financial crisis.

You Won't Believe What the Chinese Central Bank Just Did
Chinese authorities held a surprise press conference early this morning where PBOC Governor Pan Gongsheng did his best Oprah Winfrey impression handing out rate cuts to practically everyone. All that does is further expose the gravity of the situation: the more the central bank or any authority does, the worse you know it is since rate cuts never work. China just announced a lot of them.

How Central Banks have Seized Power over our Societies
Princes of the Yen reveals how post-war Japanese society was transformed to suit the agenda of powerful interest groups, and how citizens were kept entirely in the dark about this. History is now repeating itself around the world. Based on a book by Professor Richard Werner, a visiting researcher at the Bank of Japan during the 90s crash, during which the stock market dropped by 80% and house prices by up to 84%. The film uncovers how the Bank of Japan pumped up and then crashed the Japanese economy, with an aim of inducing change. Today, what happened in Japan 25 years ago is repeating itself in Europe, with an aim of centralizing power in the Eurozone.

You don't have to memorize the textbook definition of the term "central bank" or the textbook definition of the term "commercial bank" to understand what they are, the best approach (in my opinion) is comparing them to one another.
By understanding the similarities as well as differences between central banks and commercial banks, you'll learn a thing or two about how the financial system works. If you want to find out what a central bank is, what a commercial bank is and what the similarities as well as differences between central banks and commercial banks are, watch this video.

By Barry Norman, Investors Trading Academy.
Join Andy Schectman for a livestream discussion on the central banks' approach to gather gold in today's difficult geopolitical and financial environment. In 2023, central banks accumulated an astounding 1,037 tonnes of gold, the second highest yearly acquisition on record. According to the 2024 Central Bank Gold Reserves (CBGR) survey, 29% of participants intend to enhance their gold reserves, the highest level noted since the survey began in 2018. Andy will examine the factors motivating this increase, including worries about inflation and financial market instability. Don’t miss this chance to discover the future of gold as an essential reserve asset!

Director: Michael Oswald
