The Bitter Backstory of Craig Boone | Fallout Lore
Craig Boone was born in 2255, during a time when the New California Republic was steadily expanding its reach across the wasteland. Growing up in this environment, Boone was instilled with the NCR’s values of duty, loyalty, and service. These ideals shaped much of his early life, and he saw the NCR as a way to bring order to a chaotic world, so he joined the army, and his exceptional marksmanship earned him a place in the elite First Recon unit, one of the finest combat units in the NCR. It was here he became good friends with Manny Vargas, a former Great Khan. For Boone, joining the army wasn’t just about duty, it was about finding his place in the world, but there was also more to it than that. Manny, his new friend, was with him every step of the way, and their shared bond made the army...

Exploring Fallout's Elusive Cryptids | Fallout Lore
Cryptids are Creatures that are mentioned in local folklore, but whose actual existence has yet to be confirmed, but the truth is that many of these different cryptids do exist and institutions like The U.S. Armed Forces and intelligence agencies like Sugar Grove, were keeping track of cryptid encounters right up until the bombs dropped. Even though most people thought they were just folklore created by those with active imaginations, cryptids were still a big part of pre-war culture. Point Pleasant built a statue of the Mothman, Vault-Tec University’s football team was called the “Fighting Wendigos,” and radio shows like Tales from the West Virginia Hills told stories about various cryptids reportedly sighted in the area. The Tragic Tale of Lily Bowen | Fallout Lore
Lily’s life began in the relative safety of Vault 17. She married her childhood sweetheart, whom she shared her first kiss with in the vault cafeteria. Together, they raised a child, and Lily eventually became a grandmother to two wonderful children, Jimmy and Becky. Life in the vault was peaceful, quaint even. Her husband was known for making a remarkably strong moonshine, which Lily enjoyed on special occasions. But this tranquillity wouldn’t last. In 2153, when Lily was 75 years old, Unity, led by the Master in his search for “prime normals”, raided Vault 17. Lily was dragged outside where she saw the sun for the very first time, but the beauty didn’t last, as she and the other survivors were soon taken to the Mariposa Military Base and dipped into the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV). Fallout's Biggest Mysteries | Fallout Lore
Fallout has a lot of history, factions and people that are quite mysterious, with a lot their past either being lost or simply never known. So I present to you, 4 of Fallout’s biggest mysteries, along with several theories which try and explain what’s really going on. Vault-Tec existed as early as 2031, when it acquired and re-branded Morgantown's local college as Vault-Tec University. The company could be older than this and they may have even gone by another name, we don’t know. But we do know that in the early 2050’s, thanks to The Euro-Middle Eastern War, The New Plague and The collapse of The United Nations, The US Government set Project Safehouse in motion.

Caesar | Fallout Lore
Edward Sallow was born in 2226 near the Boneyard. His early years were marked by tragedy - raiders murdered his father when he was only two years old, forcing his mother to seek refuge with the Followers of the Apocalypse. A group dedicated to preservation, restoration and furtherment of knowledge. It was within the Followers' library that the seeds of his future were planted. As his mother toiled, cooking and cleaning, young Edward devoured the free education offered by them. Though a brilliant student, his success was driven only by his personal interest in subjects, and his arrogance quickly alienated his peers. The Followers preached enlightenment and peace, but to Edward, their mission was a naïve dream - one destined to fail in the harsh realities of the post-apocalyptic world, a bel...

Randall Clark aka The Survivalist | Fallout Lore
Before the Great War, Randall Dean Clark had served with the United States Army and had been one of the many unfortunate souls to have been deployed to annex Canada. While there he witnessed things that no one should have to see, entire families fighting, killing one another for food and soldiers executing those that refused to cooperate. When the killing was done and Canada had been successfully annexed, Clark was sent home, leaving the battlefield behind but also taking his atrocities with him, the nightmares of war forever embedded in his mind.
To escape these memories, Clark found himself wandering into the wilderness to hone his survival skills. For multiple days and sometimes even weeks, Clark would leave his family in Salt Lake City, his wife Charlotte, and his son Alex, who thanks ...

The Kings of Freeside | Fallout Lore
Long before The Kings existed. Mr. House, the man who would eventually shape New Vegas, awoke from a coma in 2138, but he didn’t step into the spotlight for over another hundred years. Instead, He waited, carefully biding his time until the moment was just right. That moment came in 2274 when scouts from the New California Republic were spotted at Hoover Dam. Mr. House, seeing the opportunity to restore order and power to Vegas, sent his Securitrons out from the Lucky 38 and began rebuilding the city. Despite Vegas surviving The Great War, people didn’t immediately settle into the remnants of the old city. It was years before that happened and when it did the survivors, described as Vault Tribes, fought amongst themselves. That was until House appeared, directing those who were willing to ...

The Forced Evolutionary Virus | Fallout Lore
The Forced Evolutionary Virus, also known as FEV, is a virus artificially created by West Tek's Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Division. The virus’s ability to change an individual’s observable traits and genes has made it one of the most important mutagens known to man. Harnessed both before and after the Great War, for reasons both noble and sinister. But what is FEV, to quote Father Elijah it a long story, FEV…a virus with an even longer story, so let’s take a look at how the virus came to be, what it was used for, and who by and hopefully by the end of the video we’ll have a much better understanding.

Fallout's Cybernetic Organisms | Fallout Lore
Throughout the Fallout series many humans, ghouls, super mutants and even dogs, have had certain elements of their bodies replaced with cybernetic modifications. The definition of a Cyborg is a biological organism whose abilities have been extended beyond normal limitations, either through electronic, mechanical or robotic means. Synths on the other hand, which are synthetic in nature, are the polar opposite. They are synthetic organisms and while they do have human or animal flesh they are not considered cyborgs by definition, as such they will not be discussed, but they will receive their own dedicated video. Now, the use of implants and prosthetics was fairly normal before The Great War, with artificial organs being used in hospitals during lifesaving surgeries, but also more broadly in...

After the Great War, sightings of cryptids began to increase and the reason why, at least according to Shelby O'Rourke, a cryptozoologist living in The Mire, was thanks to nuclear war removing the majority of humans, the creatures now felt safe enough to come out of hiding…Over the years many cryptids have either appeared or been mentioned throughout the Fallout series, however I’m going to exclude the eldritch entities, paranormal encounters and extra terrestrials, all of which while strange and mysterious, are technically not cryptids, who are said to animal in nature and terrestrial in origin.
With that said, we begin with The Mega Sloth.

Emerging as a super mutant, Lily was physically altered, she was shorter than average due to her age, but she was intelligent and powerful.

The Followers preached enlightenment and peace, but to Edward, their mission was a naïve dream - one destined to fail in the harsh realities of the post-apocalyptic world, a belief that never went away. By the time he was twenty, Edward had become a budding anthropologist and linguist, as such he was sent on an expedition to study the dialects of the tribes living in the Grand Canyon, but he wasn’t alone, there was Bill Calhoun a fellow Follower and Joshua Graham, a Mormon Missionary from New Canaan. Despite having the best intentions, fate would lead Edward far from the path of peaceful study. During their journey, his party was captured by the Blackfoot, a weak, disorganized tribe on the verge of extinction. Where his companions saw hopelessness, Edward saw potential and in return for his parties freedom, he offered the Blackfoot more than just the secrets of language, he offered them survival through knowledge of war. He trained them in the use of firearms, taught them to make explosives, and drilled them in military tactics. It was here, as he stood over the bodies of his enemies, that Edward Sallow died and Caesar was born...

For multiple days and sometimes even weeks, Clark would leave his family in Salt Lake City, his wife Charlotte, and his son Alex, who thanks to these frequent excursions would hardly ever see him. The husband and father who had left for the war had returned a stranger, but no matter how many times he would run off into the wilderness, to distract his troubled mind with survival, he always came home. And it was on that fateful day, October 23rd, 2077, as Clark was driving home from his latest bout of survival training, where the world was forever changed.

But what is FEV, to quote Father Elijah it a long story, FEV…a virus with an even longer story, so let’s take a look at how the virus came to be, what it was used for, and who by and hopefully by the end of the video we’ll have a much better understanding.

The Forced Evolutionary Virus, also known as FEV, is a virus artificially created by West Tek's Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Division. Now, the use of implants and prosthetics was fairly normal before The Great War, with artificial organs being used in hospitals during lifesaving surgeries, but also more broadly in military and police settings. Specifically, implants that improved the defences and combat proficiency of Cyberdogs and Robobrains. However, the process of turning a biological organism into a cyborg isn’t as simple as I’ve made it sound, and many times the procedures were detrimental to the subjects health and wellbeing. As a result Doctors would only suggest cybernetic surgeries if it was a medical emergency. Whereas the US military took things to the extreme.
