Swatch Internet Time (or beat time) is a decimal time concept introduced in 1998 by the Swatch corporation as part of their marketing campaign for their line of "Beat" watches.
Instead of hours and minutes, the mean solar day is divided up into 1000 parts called ".beats". Each .beat is equal to one decimal minute in the French Revolutionary decimal time system and lasts 1 minute and 26.4 seconds (86.4 seconds) in standard time. Times are notated as a 3-digit number out of 1000 after midnight. So, @248 would indicate a time 248 .beats after midnight representing 248/1000 of a day, just over 5 hours and 57 minutes.
There are no time zones in Swatch Internet Time; instead, the new time scale of Biel Meantime (BMT) is used, based on Swatch's headquarters in Biel, Switzerland and equivalent to Central European Time, West Africa Time, and UTC+01. Unlike civil time in Switzerland and many other countries, Swatch Internet Time does not observe daylight saving time.
History
Swatch Internet Time was announced on October 23, 1998, in a ceremony at the Junior Summit '98, attended by Nicolas G. Hayek, President and CEO of the Swatch Group, G.N. Hayek, President of Swatch Ltd., and Nicholas Negroponte, founder and then-director of the MIT Media Lab. During the Summit, Swatch Internet Time became the official time system for Nation1, an online country (supposedly) created and run by children.
Jet Set Radio(ジェットセットラジオ,Jetto Setto Rajio), titled Jet Grind Radio in North America, is a video game developed by the Sega studio Smilebit. It was published by Sega for the Dreamcast on June 29, 2000 in Japan, October 30, 2000 in North America and November 24, 2000 in Europe. The player controls one of a gang of youths who roam the streets of Tokyo-to, rollerblading and spraying graffiti while evading the authorities. It was one of the first games to use cel-shaded visuals, giving it a "flat", cartoon-like appearance.
The player controls Beat, a tagger who forms a gang of graffiti-tagging rollerbladers. In a typical stage, the player must tag every graffiti spot in each area before the timer runs out, while evading the authorities, who pursue on foot, in tanks and helicopters. New playable characters are unlocked after the player beats them in trick battles.
Beat is the ninth studio album by the British rock band King Crimson, released in 1982. The halftonequaver image on the cover was designed by artist Rob O'Connor.
"Neal and Jack and Me" is the track most obviously inspired by Beat writers. The 'Jack' of the title is Beat writer Jack Kerouac, while 'Neal' is Kerouac's best friend Neal Cassady. Besides On the Road, the lyrics make references in French to other significant Kerouac works; Les Souterrains, Des Visions du Cody and Sartori a Paris. The song was released as a b-side to "Heartbeat". Musically it picks up where the album and songDiscipline left off, with Fripp and Belew's dueling guitars weaving in and out of patterns in 5 4 and 7 8 time signatures.
"Heartbeat" is also the name of a book written by Neal Cassady's wife Carolyn about her experiences with the Beats.
Luna is an original XM Satellite Radio music channel, one of the few XM channels that has not had any live personalities. Luna airs Latin Jazz Music and has been described as "The Hottest In Latin Jazz."
The channel was removed from the satellite lineup on April 17, 2006 but remained available online.
Luna was removed from XM Radio Online in July 2008.
It is now available both online and to all SiriusXM 2.0 branded receivers on channel 530 in the Latin neighborhood.
The Moon is thought to have formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago, not long after Earth. There are several hypotheses for its origin; the most widely accepted explanation is that the Moon formed from the debris left over after a giant impact between Earth and a Mars-sized body called Theia.
The Moon is in synchronous rotation with Earth, always showing the same face with its near side marked by dark volcanic maria that fill between the bright ancient crustal highlands and the prominent impact craters. It is the second-brightest regularly visible celestial object in Earth's sky after the Sun, as measured by illuminance on Earth's surface. Although it can appear a very bright white, its surface is actually dark, with a reflectance just slightly higher than that of worn asphalt. Its prominence in the sky and its regular cycle of phases have, since ancient times, made the Moon an important cultural influence on language, calendars, art, and mythology.
Luna 20 was the second of three successful Soviet lunar sample return missions. It was flown as part of the Luna program as a robotic competitor to the six successful Apollo lunar sample return missions.
Luna 20 was placed in an intermediate Earth parking orbit and from this orbit was sent towards the Moon. It entered lunar orbit on February 18, 1972. On February 21, 1972, Luna 20 soft landed on the Moon in a mountainous area known as the Terra Apollonius (or Apollonius highlands) near Mare Fecunditatis (Sea of Fertility), 120 km from where Luna 16 had landed. While on the lunar surface, the panoramic television system was operated. Lunar samples were obtained by means of an extendable drilling apparatus. The ascent stage of Luna 20 was launched from the lunar surface on 22 February 1972 carrying 30 grams of collected lunar samples in a sealed capsule. It landed in the Soviet Union on 25 February 1972. The lunar samples were recovered the following day.
Program animation or Stepping refers to the now very common debugging method of executing code one "line" at a time. The programmer may examine the state of the program, machine, and related databefore and after execution of a particular line of code. This allows evaluation of the effects of that statement or instruction in isolation and thereby gain insight into the behavior (or misbehavior) of the executing program. Nearly all modern IDEs and debuggers support this mode of execution.
Some Testing tools allow programs to be executed step-by-step optionally at either source code level or machine code level depending upon the availability of data collected at compile time.
History
Instruction stepping or single cycle also referred to the related, more microscopic, but now obsolete method of debugging code by stopping the processor clock and manually advancing it one cycle at a time. For this to be possible, three things are required:
A control that allows the clock to be stopped (e.g. a "Stop" button).
Internet Time is a new universal time created by Swatch. With this way of timekeeping, there are no more time zones, as the entire world is happening at the same time, at the same moment. Internet Time divides the 24 hours of a day into 1000 unit

How Swatch tried to reshape our Timing System | Story of Internet Time | Swatch Internet Time |
But in 1998, the Swiss watch company Swatch, working in tandem with the founder of the MIT Media Lab, nonetheless pitched the wild idea of redesigning the time system. They threw out the 24-hour system in order to reshape our timing system.
Instead, they replaced it with something called Internet Time. To find out more about what that was... stay tuned till the very end.

Decimal Time: What if it was the same time everywhere?
In the late 90s the internet was taking off and the world was becoming more global, but everyone was in different time zones, which could be a pain. Swatch came up with a solution: Internet Time.

Swatch .Beat - The Failure of Internet Time - Bad Ideas #64
The Swatch company wanted to change time as we know it. Using 1000 beats in a day, they would get rid of pesky seconds, minutes, and hours. No longer will we be held under the yoke of the 24 hour system! And it'll be on Swiss international time.

Internet Time is a new universal time created by Swatch. With this way of timekeeping, there are no more time zones, as the entire world is happening at the same time, at the same moment. Internet Time divides the 24 hours of a day into 1000 unit
Jeff tries to convince anyone who will listen to change Giant Bomb's time to "Swatch Internet Time"

In the late 90s the internet was taking off and the world was becoming more global, but everyone was in different time zones, which could be a pain. Swatch came up with a solution: Internet Time.

The Swatch company wanted to change time as we know it. Using 1000 beats in a day, they would get rid of pesky seconds, minutes, and hours. No longer will we be held under the yoke of the 24 hour system! And it'll be on Swiss international time.

51 parts, 1 central screw, 17 pending patents and a 90 hour power reserve. From the master watchmakers at Swatch: an automatic (self-winding) mechanical movement. Pick it up, flip it over—the front tells the time, the back tells the story. Fascinating.

[Intro: KRS - talking] Yes, KRS. Revolution. You know what this is We back in the building, straight up Yo, look at 'em. Look at 'em runnin' Look at 'em runnin' already. Out the door Let's go. This is raw. Y'all know what time this is [Verse 1:] When KRS-One comes to spit You DJ's with no breaks, I don't wanna hear that shit The radio? I can't even bare that shit Gucci/Prada, I don't even wear that shit I'm in the streets, holla, but y'all fear that shit We blue collar DJ's, we're here to rip 900 number, we got two pairs of it MP3 shit, I'm not sharin' it Classic samples and loops, we not clearin' it The life of DJ, there's no comparin' it Many wanna be but many more are scared of it Before they start they already plan to quit The music? They no longer fans of it They wanna use it, so they can get a grand and shit The program director is handin' 'em strips Make 'em play wack shit and lie from they lips! [talking: DJ Premier] You see, there's times like this. When you need real motherfuckers like us to let you know what a DJ is Listen man, I gotta pay you to play my shit? Check this out My shit's already hot so I ain't gotta pay for shit You can't tell a DJ what to do. We tell you what's really good DJ Revolution, I got you. Fuck these clowns [Verse 2:] So, you wanna be a DJ live on the set? Can't be travellin' back again, you should not forget The beats in the street and you have been elected To carry the tradition of records being selected Check it Your job is to break new records Go to the club, get on man and wreck shit Seemless mixin', blends undetected The true DJ and MC are connected Like me and DJ Revolution Look at what we usin' Beats and rhymes, no confusion Who's in the house? If my crew's in the house? 100's of people be groovin' it out Cuttin', mixin', scratchin' non-stop Party rockin', two hours non-stop If you got Serrato Bravo But if you can't cut vinyl records, you won't be able to follow A true MC, not a new MC Fuck the computer it's you and me And the crowd And oh yes they want it loud At the tombstone of Scott La Rock, I vow Never to let a wack DJ mix me And I'll be spittin' this way past 60 Ain't nothin' changed but the format Funk, soul, jungle, maaaan, you gotta play all that Mix it up, not lick it up The mix, a DJ should pick you up KRS-One DJ Revolution Tell me, what's the solution? [Scratch chorus: "The DJ" - Common] [Verse 3:] Yeah, you're a D dot J dot, man don't even say that We real in the field, y'all pressin' play back DJ Revolution, watch how you say dat Y'all gonna respect this DJ from way back Yo, hey Jack, this the payback Y'all far from home and forgot your way back So bein' I'm the teacher and all this Me and DJ Revolution put together this short list For DJ's So you can get on your job A DJ is not an Ipod A DJ is not a jukebox, fuck your requests You come to hear the DJ rock Just because you got 20, 000 songs in your computer and you call on them Doesn't mean you should bore the crowd Be selective, you don't have to play all of them I really shouldn't have to say this But don't build your set from your P.D. playlist DJ's across the nation What you play in your ride, play on the station Needless to say DJ's must love the music they play And Mix If you're good Just because you can scratch doesn't mean you should Cuttin' and scratchin' is seasonin' when you use it Rock it, but people wanna hear the music So #7 Let's get into this Don't ever start a mix you can't finish At #8 For DJ's to hear it Don't shout your name over other rapper's lyrics Or rhymes Keep the party movin' Play up to two verses only, keep the party movin' Find a friend A true MC that down with you till the end Someone who can explain what you doin' Sorta like KRS with DJ Revolution What are we provin'? DJin' with MCin' together is hip hop's true fusion "The DJ" [talking: KRS One] Stand up for the culture. Don't just grab a check These motherfuckers won't be here next year What you gonna do when they fire yo' ass? Man, you better stand with the people. DJ Revolution. The originator
