Mariam Hamdan [00;00;25;13]
We talk all things food, buildings, academics. We go to the library, the Rec.
Kirti Madhu [00;00;30;26]
You can also go see one of the residence halls and at least one or two of the classrooms.
Mariam Hamdan [00;00;36;10]
You can ask whatever questions you want. If you really want to see something specific, we can make it happen.
Nicolas Luciano [00;00;41;18]
Besides campus tours, we have various Select Saturday events, as we call it, and that's basically where students can come and we have events that are related to their major or their program.
Mariam Hamdan [00;00;52;29]
I think it's really important for students to physically come to campus if that is possible. It is one thing to find the answer on the SLU website, but it's a completely 'nother experience to actually come to campus and see what it's about.
Nicolas Luciano [00;01;04;19]
You're able to experience the culture and, you know, who our people really are.

[00:00:02] Saint Louis University, also known as SLU, is located in the dynamic urban center of Saint Louis, Missouri's Midtown Arts District, stretching over 281 acres. Campus is home to nearly 130 buildings, where students thrive academically and socially, embrace hands-on learning opportunities and make lifelong connections. Step through the archways that mark campus entrances and into a park-like setting dotted with hammocks, fountains and welcoming places to study. There's always a place to meet a friend or grab a bite to eat day or night. Sluice academic buildings are home to a dozen schools, colleges and degree granting centers. State of the art classrooms, labs and clinics help prepare students for careers in STEM health, business, law, education and the arts. One of campus's most recognizable buildings is Pius Library, home to more than 1 million volumes, including many rare books. It's also where you'll find sluice academic technology commons equipped with 3D printers, recording studios, a virtual reality simulator, and more collaborative learning spaces that allow students to work closely with professors and participate in research are key. At SLU, the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building opened in 2020, features innovative teaching environments and flexible lab spaces, while the Boise Research Center, whose iconic flotilla can be spotted from nearly anywhere on campus, is the home base for SLU research in vaccine development, medicine and more.
[00:01:53] Nearby, you'll find SLU's competitive school of medicine, the first established west of the Mississippi River, a short shuttle ride away and strategically located near Saint Louis courthouses. The School of Law. Another first in the region stands 12 stories tall and is a landmark downtown. Also defining SLU skyline are some of SLU's 11 apartment and residence hall options. Many residence halls feature learning communities which are devoted to helping students achieve their academic goals and connect with other Billikens. Options range from single rooms to quads, courtyard apartments or high rises with views of the city. So you'll find an option perfect for you. Residence halls at SLU are more than where you sleep. Inside you'll find classrooms, areas dedicated to worship and communal areas like kitchens, free laundry facilities, and lounges. You'll also find lots of places to eat, including an All You Care to eat dining hall, several coffee spots, and popular takeout options that can be enjoyed on cozy patios located all over campus. Finding your place and being supported are a big part of this culture, so you'll have easy access to services right where you need them. Many administrative functions take place in DuBourg Hall, which was the very first building on this current campus. But you'll also find resources like our Student Success Center, Health and Counseling Services. Simon Recreation Center, Career Services, and more.
[00:03:31] While most places on campus can be quickly reached on foot or bike, you'll also find shuttle services and safety escorts that easily get you where you need to go. And a conveniently located light rail Metrolink station connects you to the city. While SLU is in the middle of all Saint Louis has to offer, there are also plenty of ways to stay entertained and get involved right on campus, including Division one, sports, three museums, Live Theater, and Chaifetz Arena, one of the city's best venues for concerts and sporting events, attend Mass at College Church among the country's most beautiful campus churches. Or volunteer with one of SLU as many student organizations focused on social justice, the home of student life and involvement is SLU’s Busch Student Center with dining, meeting space, and more. But many students also say the Center for Global Citizenship is among their favorite spots on campus. Flags flying atop its roofline represent the home countries of SLU students, faculty, staff, and alumni and on nice days. Lippert Clocktower Plaza is a popular gathering place for studying and meeting up with friends. We can't wait to welcome you to Saint Louis University. Campus tours are offered year-round, and we'd love to tell you more. Schedule a visit or learn more at slu.edu.

Jenesca: [00:00:01] What are you looking for in a school? What do you want to graduate with? The skills, the techniques, but also just experiences. What person do you envision yourself to be through programming, the community and relationships? I've had to make space to grow now so that you can do good in this world.
Patrick: [00:00:17] I felt like I was at home. I hadn't really felt that at any of the other 12 schools that I had taken tours of.
Tristin: [00:00:24] SLU was the one school where every student I smiled at, smiled back at me.
Lydia: [00:00:28] There were some other schools that just didn't have that same atmosphere, and I almost immediately felt that.
Jahmal: [00:00:33] We're not just numbers here. Every student has the count.
Patrick: [00:00:37] I've been challenged throughout my four years to kind of grow as an individual.
Lydia: [00:00:41] I think for me, I found who I want to be. As cheesy as that is, I don't think I would have found that somewhere else.
Jenesca: [00:00:47] I wanted a community. I just walked around campus during the visit. Everyone was saying, “Hi, welcome to SLU”. It was a really easy decision once I visited. Everyone cares about how you're doing. Everyone cares about you as a person. And that was something I really wanted to be a part of. The people that I've been surrounded with at SLU, to live with.
Lydia: [00:01:04] Some of my best friends who have also just been amazing people.
Patrick: [00:01:07] The vibe here at SLU, you can be comfortable because you know that the next person is just as kind as you could want them to be.
Jenesca: [00:01:14] Passionate people on fire who want to make a difference in this world.
Jahmal: [00:01:17] It's refreshing, especially in the climate that we live in, constantly bombarded with the injustice of the world. And here I'm constantly surrounded by people who want to make a difference and a change.
Jenesca: [00:01:28] The St Louis community. It's a package deal when you come to SLU. Like you're getting the city to whether that's through service opportunities, through just fun activities. Going to the loop or a downtown Saint Louis College is a full experience. It's not just school and academics.
Lydia: [00:01:41] Each person is not just their major. I'm a well-rounded human being who cares about the community, who does service. We really push each other to be the best whole person we can be. I don't know who I would be at a different school because of the opportunities that I've had.
Tristin: [00:01:53] It does have that feeling of home and I hope you find it here at SLU.
