Do Indians See Themselves as Asian? | Street Interview
If you consider yourself a true fan of Asian Boss, become a member of our community to join the cause: https://asianboss.io
It seems that in the West, especially in the US, people think of East Asian countries first before South Asian countries like India. For example, recently, Malaysian comedian Ronny Chieng joked on ‘The Daily Show’ that Indians are not Asians in a stand-up skit and how he does not feel represented by Britain’s first Asian prime minister, Rishi Sunak. Chieng has gotten quite some online backlash for this joke, but how do Indians feel about this? Do they think of themselves as Asians or Indian? Our Asian Boss reporter hit the streets of Delhi to find out.

Why South Asians Are More Likely To Get Diabetes Than Europeans
Dr. Mubin Syed says that famine under British colonialism continues to negatively affect South Asians’ physiology today.
The Indian subcontinent faced as many as 31 serious famines under British rule, and tens of millions are thought to have starved to death.
Dr. Syed suggests the ones who survived generationally passed down “starvation-adapted” bodies, which tend to generate and store fat, rather than burn it off with lean muscle mass.
South Asians have also been found to be up to six times more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than Europeans.

After Decades of Brownface, South Asians Fight for Better Representation | National Geographic
South Asian Americans are expanding on the success of their immigrant parents, creating a blended cultural identity—and turning the tables on old stereotypes. In recent movies and on television, there’s been an increase in diversity and representation, but it wasn’t always like that. This short video explores how we got from white people in brownface to authentic storytelling and also examines stereotypes that still linger on.
