Singapore's first public LGBT pride festival, IndigNation, took place during the month of August in 2005, with a second annual IndigNation in August 2006. Previous gay celebrations, exemplified by the Nation parties held annually in Singapore since 2001, were private commercial events held for LGBT recreation, but were also socio-political statements of significance in Singapore gay history and milestones in Singapore's human rights record.
History
Before 2001
Prior to 2001, all events held for LGBT people were private affairs not advertised or even made known to the general public. Most were held indoors, especially on Sunday nights at various mainstream discos which were eager to tap the pink dollar on a day when business from their straight patrons was slow. This phenomenon began in the early 1980s when the police started to turn a blind eye to men disco-dancing with each other, but not during the slow numbers, when they were cautioned by the managements of these venues to "behave". This was done to avoid complaints from heterosexual patrons who were initially invariably present.
Nation19 is a magazine publication that blends hip-hop culture, photojournalism, and anthropology. The printed and digital magazine is produced and published by multimedia team, Queen Muhammad Ali and Hakeem Khaaliq. Nation19 also produces documentary films and hosts exhibits based on various articles featured in the magazine. Nation19 is defined by its large photo spreads and motifs of indigenous empowerment, archeological research, and social change. Nation19 offers posters, limited T-shirts, and accessories for purchase in their online store.
The Hashtag and term ‘APDTA’ was coined by Nation19 and is a trademarked brand sold by the company.
Scope
Investigative journalism is a regular element of the magazine. A controversial interview with deceased CIA whistleblower and activist, Michael Ruppert, was published in the "Survival Edition" shortly after his death. The piece focused on the Fukushima nuclear disaster, and other issues related to the Pacific Ocean.
Kill the Lights is the fifth studio album by American country music artist Luke Bryan. It was released on August 7, 2015, through Capitol Nashville. The album's lead single, "Kick the Dust Up", was released to radio on May 19, 2015. "Strip It Down" was released as the second single from the album on August 4, 2015. The album's third single, "Home Alone Tonight", was released to country radio on November 23, 2015.
Kill the Lights garnered positive reviews from music critics. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, moving 345,000 equivalent units in the week ending August 13.
Critical reception
Kill the Lights has received mostly positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a "weighted average" rating out of 100 from selected independent ratings and reviews from mainstream critics, the album received a Metascore of 69/100, based on nine reviews, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic rates the album four stars conveying: "Kill the Lights winds up feeling happy and generous, an inclusive record that plays to teenage desires as effectively as memories of an adolescence left behind. " The publication Billboard rates the album three and a half stars, and Jewly Hight commenting: "the fact that Kill the Lights features a pensive, black-and-white cover shot -- the rare photo in which he's not smiling even a little -- is a hint: He isn't simply going about his business-as-usual fun on this album."Brian Mansfield rates the album three stars out of four at USA Today proffering: "The hits are fine, but that's the guy who's really worth getting to know." Maura Johnston gives the album a positive review on behalf of The Boston Globe suggesting: "Bryan might have broken up with spring break, but crashing pop’s party will probably offer him just as good a time."
"Move" is a single by CSS, it is the third released from the album Donkey. It was released on October 13, 2008. It was remixed by Cut Copy and Frankmusik. The single failed to chart everywhere, except for Italy. It is featured in the forever 21 playlist. A remix of the song was used for a jazz routine on So You Think You Can Dance season 5, which was performed by Janette Manrana and Evan Kasprzak, and later season 8 for a solo by jazz dancer Missy Morelli.
The film covers three days in the life of Hiram Jaffe (Gould), a would-be playwright who supplements his living as a porn writer and by walking dogs. He and his wife, Dolly (Paula Prentiss), are moving to a new apartment on New York's Upper West Side. Jaffe is beset by problems, including his inability to persuade the moving man to move the couple's furniture, and retreats into fantasy.

Google X Vice Singapore Pride Campaign 2022: Finding Pride
This year one of the biggest projects we had the honour of working on was the Google Pride Campaign 2022, in collaboration with Vice, Singapore. This is Google's global campaign to help support and celebrate LGBTQIA+ friendly spaces and their road to recovery.

"How modern scholarship messes us up, is that they try to make you think everybody’s different, one from another. So by calling us African, they’re denying us or isolating us to one continent, and in reality back in the ancient ages, it was only one system. We’re connected"
- Mother Tynnetta Muhammad
We took a boat to a small Island off the coast of Cartagena de Indias (Colombia). The island covers a surface area of 19.84 km² with an estimated population of 9,000 Black people. The mask and its design comes from this region and represents the resilience of the people, their struggle to be free, and their connection to other Black cultures such as Australia and Africa. We are all connected.

After 2 years of online-only events, the 14th edition of Pink Dot (http://pinkdot.sg/) came back in full swing over the weekend in support of the LGBTQ+ community in Singapore. The yearly non-profit movement, which began in 2009, saw thousands of people coming together at the Speakers’ Corner in Hong Lim Park to celebrate love without judgement. We went on the ground to get in the mix!

This year one of the biggest projects we had the honour of working on was the Google Pride Campaign 2022, in collaboration with Vice, Singapore. This is Google's global campaign to help support and celebrate LGBTQIA+ friendly spaces and their road to recovery.
Zcyphher was on board to produce the segment representing India in this campaign alongside stories from Australia, Japan, and Thailand.
For our campaign, we documented Inder and Ashish. They met each other 10 years ago and have been married for the last 8 years.
With the help of Google, they are able to find Stay Uncle, a website for searching and booking hotels that welcome and have made themselves safe spaces for the LGBTQIA + community, to book rooms without being judged.
The couples experience a space that acknowledges their relationship which helps them truly be themselves.

Singapore has an annual Pride celebration under the name Pink Dot, as volunteers, and members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ do a light up at the end of the festival to show just how many of us there are! This year was Pink Dot's 10th anniversary, and my second year attending.

Bangkok Pride Festival 2024: A Grand Celebration of Love and Equality
Bangkok, Thailand – The highly anticipated Bangkok Pride Festival 2024 kicked off in grand fashion on Saturday, June 1, 2024, drawing hundreds of thousands of people to witness a spectacular parade and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. The vibrant event commenced at 3:00 PM and continued until 9:00 PM, transforming Ratchadamri Road into a vibrant tapestry of colors, music, and pride.
This year's festival held a special significance as it served as a platform to advocate for marriage equality in Thailand. With the potential legalization of same-sex marriage on the horizon, Thailand is poised to become the first country in Southeast Asia to recognize and protect the rights of LGBTQ+ couples. The festival aimed to raise awareness and garner support for this crucial social change.
The parade route began at the iconic National Stadium and snaked its way through the heart of Bangkok, passing by renowned landmarks such as the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Siam Paragon shopping mall, and Wat Pathum Wanaram. The streets were abuzz with energy as participants and spectators alike danced, cheered, and waved rainbow flags, creating an atmosphere of unity and celebration.
In addition to the parade, the festival featured a diverse range of activities, including live music performances, art exhibitions, food stalls, and workshops. These events provided a platform for LGBTQ+ individuals to showcase their talents, connect with the community, and promote diversity and inclusion.
