The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a mainline ProtestantChristian denomination in the United States in the Reformed tradition. It is often referred to as The Christian Church, The Disciples of Christ, or as The Disciples. The Christian Church was a charter participant in the formation of the World Council of Churches and of the Federal Council of Churches (now the National Council of Churches), and it continues to be engaged in ecumenical conversations.
The Disciples' local churches are congregationally governed. In 2008 there were 679,563 members in 3,714 congregations in North America. For 2012, their Yearbook & Directory claimed 625,252 members in 3,627 congregations.
History
The name, Disciples of Christ, is shared by two groups, The Churches of Christ and the independent Christian churches and churches of Christ. They emerged from the same roots. The Stone-Campbell movement began as two separate threads, each without knowledge of the other, during the Second Great Awakening in the early 19th century. The first of these two groups, led by Barton W. Stone began at Cane Ridge, Bourbon County, Kentucky. The group called themselves simply Christians. The second, began in western Pennsylvania and Virginia (now West Virginia), led by Thomas Campbell and his son, Alexander Campbell. Because the founders wanted to abandon all denominational labels, they used the biblical names for the followers of Jesus that they found in the Bible.
The Disciples of Christ are a Christian rap group which originated in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the early 1990s. They released three albums for Star Song Records and later formed their own label, We are One/Throne Room Records.
Beginnings
The core of the group was Ben Reges (born Alton Hood) and Absalom (Kelvin Harvey) who were attending Oberlin College on football scholarship and friend Prophet (Michael Brown). Hood says of that time,
"Basically we were into the world. We both had scholarships to play football. We didn't have Christ in our lives, so we began to party and live the high life, hanging out with girls, that whole party life. We had this void in our lives. So what happened was that I was introduced by some friends to the occult. It got pretty serious."
Hood credits God with cleaning up both him and Harvey from drug addictions born out of their use in occult rituals:
"Praise God, through a supernatural manifestation of the Holy Spirit, God's power came down right there in the room, saved me, delivered me right there on the spot...".

Doesn't have respect at all
Somebody going through it somewhere
Wonderin' what you're gunna do
Wonderin' if you're gunna make it
Wonderin' how long it will take
And will you ever get through
Can't see the light of day nowhere
The enemy tryna make you feel like pain will be always
But you know like I know that trouble will never last always
So hold ya head up high
'Cause God is on your side
And He loves you

I am a Christian. A believer in Jesus Christ.
Bold?
Are you uncomfortable?
Afraid to see where Im going next??
I know... because WE hate people right? Hate homosexuals, hate adulturers, hate sinners. Walk around with our noses in the air. Entitled. For an easy life—a life
Where everyone is "perfect"
Where everyone works together
Where everyone follows the rules
Where everyone goes to church... and NEVER misses the mark... Messes up.
THIS is wrong. Never one day have I hated another human. Never one day have I been any better than anyone else. Never one day have I escaped from being just as broken as my divorced grandparents, my molested sister, or dead uncle who suicided. Every day I join the world in the trenches of life. I fight to reach the other side of misery. Break through my walls of pain and hurt...
See...
Im not so different.
AM I?
You see the brown eyes I stare behind? They only ever wanted to bring the kingdom.
They only ever wanted to bring you joy!
Never one day have I walked onto college avenue or into a class and not felt like YOU... my classmates... my peers and professors, see me as anything more than a rule enforcer, a pharasee... The one who passes judgement because remember!! I am a Christian. A believer in Jesus Christ.
Because this is how I identify, I know what you expect, but that's okay. I love you anyway. And I will see you as perfect, as beautiful, as just the way that YOU were designed and created to be.

I am a student at UNCG. I made this video for a class but the reality is that this is my heart.
Script:
