Metropolitan statistical area
In the United States, a metropolitan statistical area (MSA) is a geographical region with a relatively high population density at its core and close economic ties throughout the area. Such regions are neither legally incorporated as a city or town would be, nor are they legal administrative divisions like counties and states. As such, the precise definition of any given metropolitan area can vary with the source. A typical metropolitan area is centered on a single large city that wields substantial influence over the region (e.g., Chicago or Atlanta). However, some metropolitan areas contain more than one large city with no single municipality holding a substantially dominant position (e.g., Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, Riverside–San Bernardino or Minneapolis–Saint Paul).

Why It's So Hard To Define a Metro Area
There are many variables to consider when defining a metro area, however it is very easy to miss one.
You have to determine the main city/cities, determine which counties make up the metro area, and determine if any counties with ties to one urban core have stronger ties to a different core.
Oh, and there's always the possibility of combining two metro areas.
As always, please give recommendations as to how I can improve future uploads!

Description: A combined statistical area is composed of adjacent metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas in the United States and Puerto Rico that can demonstrate economic or social linkage. The United States Office of Management and Budget defines a CSA as consisting of various combinations of adjacent metropolitan and micropolitan areas with economic ties measured by commuting patterns. These areas that combine retain their own designations as metropolitan or micropolitan statistical areas within the larger combined statistical area. The primary distinguishing factor between a CSA and an MSA/µSA is that the social and economic ties between the individual MSAs/µSAs within a CSA are at lower levels than between the counties within an MSA. CSAs represent multiple metropolitan or micropolitan areas that have an employment interchange of at least 15%. CSAs often represent regions with overlapping labor and media markets. As of July 2015, there are 171 combined statistical areas in the United States, plus three in Puerto Rico.

This is our mall series opener on dead malls, abandoned buildings, the dead retail era of America in 2023 and beyond.

Wyoming Valley Mall, Wilkes-Barre, PA born in 1971.
This mall is already topping the list as a favorite of mine. It’s super charming and has alot of potential, unfortunately with retail dying and the recent jewelry store robbery at Wyoming Valley Mall, we dont have high hopes!
This is our mall series opener on dead malls, abandoned buildings, the dead retail era of America in 2023 and beyond.
Come with us as we explore this mall, show you the good, the bad and the ugly!
