Pennsylvania is Pere Ubu's eleventh studio album. The album marks Tom Herman's return to Pere Ubu's studio work after a twenty-year absence.
Director's Cut
In 2005, to celebrate Pere Ubu's 30th Anniversary, a "Director's Cut" was released which featured new mastering, alternate mixes, and two bonus tracks. David Thomas explains: "The point of doing a Director's Cut is to benefit from that older and wiser thing. I reviewed all alternate mixes from the session, sometimes discovering that an earlier mix turned out to be superior to the chosen mix. As well, 10 years later, we have access to improved mastering technology. Consequently, there is a greater clarity and cohesion to the Director's Cut. We are not going to make both versions available. The Director's Cut is the way it's supposed to be. Period."
"Pennsylvania" is the official state song of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The song was written and composed by Eddie Khoury and Ronnie Bonner and serves as the official song for all public purposes. State Representative Frank L. Oliver introduced the bill for the song, and it was adopted by the General Assembly and signed into law by GovernorRobert P. Casey on November 29, 1990.
"Barber Pole Hobbies" open for 28 years in Sayre, Pennsylvania
Loren Frantz opened Barber Pole Hobbies at 113 N Lehigh Ave. in 1995. The store is in the same location where his grandfather first opened a barber shop in the 1930’s, which was then run by his father.
“In the late 80’s I thought I wanted to join as well, but I just didn’t have the artistic ability to cut somebody’s hair,” said Frantz.
“There are so many options here. How many kits are in this store?” asked reporter Nick Dubina.
“Oh, there’s gotta be 50 or 60 thousand different kits. Cars, Planes, Boats, I have something for everybody,” said Frantz. “The models range from really easy that can snap together, to ones that can take you 6 to 7 months to build. We get repeat customers from 7-year-olds to 70 plus. I have models that are ten dollars, and others that can go up to hundreds of do...

10 Places in Pennsylvania You Should NEVER Move To
Move to these places and you're gonna regret it big time!
If you were going to make a list of places to NOT to move to in Pennsylvania, you’d have a lot to choose from. Many people wouldn’t want to live on a farm, or in smallish communities where there isn’t even electricity. Or in an old beat up former coal mining town where the local economy is horrible. Many of us wouldn’t want to live in a big inner city where violence and homelessness rules the day.

You could actually choose many MANY places in Pennsylvania that would be a bad choice for a newcomer. Long time Pennsylvania residents could rattle off at least 20 places they wouldn’t want to live in themselves. And, in case you didn’t know, migration TO the Keystone State stopped being positive a long while ago.
Anyways, because everyone likes lists in tens, we did a lot of homework to bring you a list of only 10 places in Pennsylvania where you should NEVER move, even though there’s way more than that.
We're going to talk about places in Pittsburgh, near Philadelphia and near Scranton. Places like McKeesport, Chester, Reading and more!

HISTORY
Robert Heysham Sayre (1824-1907): Born in Bethany, Pennsylvania, Sayre was an influential figure in the 19th-century American railroad industry. Educated as an engineer, he played a pivotal role in the construction of various railroad lines. His association with Asa Packer, a business magnate, and philanthropist, led to his involvement in the Lehigh Valley Railroad.
Lehigh Valley Railroad: Founded in the 1850s primarily to transport anthracite coal from the mines in Pennsylvania to markets in New York and New Jersey, the Lehigh Valley Railroad expanded considerably under the leadership of people like Asa Packer and Robert Heysham Sayre. Sayre's engineering expertise was instrumental in the development of the rail line, and he held various positions within the company over the years, ultimately becoming its president.
Sayre's Establishment: The location that became Sayre was initially just farmland. However, with the expansion of the railroad, the Lehigh Valley Railroad sought a location for its primary repair and maintenance facility. The land near the current Sayre was chosen due to its strategic location. As the facility became operational, it led to the rapid growth of the town around it, eventually leading to its incorporation as a borough in 1891.
Legacy: The naming of the town after Robert Heysham Sayre was a nod to his immense contributions to the railroad and, by extension, the community that developed around it. The legacy of the railroad is still visible in the town's layout, historic buildings, and local museums.

Wikipedia calls it the "Penn-York" Valley, although few other sources use that moniker. This valley spans from the confluence of the Chemung and Susquehanna rivers to a few miles past the NY state line. Sayre is the principle municipality in the valley, and this tour will also take you to Athens, South Waverly, Athens Township, and the village of Waverly in New York.
This was our video submission for HGTVs Home Town Takeover, a six-episode special event slated to air on HGTV in 2021. Check out our beautiful town and learn about some of the many people and places that make Sayre a great place to call home!

Attendees of the joint DL&W Railroad Historical Society/Susquehanna Valley Railway Historical Society (NRHS) visit to the 1881 Lehigh Valley Railroad passenger station enjoyed an additional treat as the Lehigh Railway began a train building operation on the tracks next to the station. The train was led by SD40-2 No. 5700 and GP38-3 in RJ Corman pool power livery pulling a long line of covered hoppers.
The Lehigh Line (or "Lehigh Line" on the corporate website) is a 60-mile shortline operating in Wyoming and Bradford counties in Pennsylvania. It interchanges with the Norfolk Southern in Sayre, and the Reading & Northern in Mehoopany and Towanda. It was purchased by the RJ Corman Railroad Group in October 2020.
