The King's Singers are a Britisha cappellavocal ensemble founded in 1968. They are named after King's College in Cambridge, England, where the group was formed by six choral scholars. In the United Kingdom, their popularity peaked in the 1970s and early 1980s. Thereafter they began to reach a wider international audience, appearing frequently on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in the U.S. In 1987, they were prominently featured as guests on the Emmy Award winning ABC-TV special Julie Andrews: The Sound of Christmas.
Today the ensemble travels worldwide for its performances, appearing in around 125 concerts each year, mostly in Europe, the U.S. and the Far East, having recently added the People's Republic of China to their list of touring territories. In recent years the group have had several UK appearances at the Royal Albert Hall Proms and concerts as part of the Three Choirs Festival and the City of London Festival.
History
The group has always consisted of six singers in total, with their membership changing over the years. None of the original members remain. The first stable incarnation of the group, from late 1969 until 1978, comprised:
"Save Your Kisses for Me" was the winning song of the Eurovision Song Contest 1976, performed for the United Kingdom by Brotherhood of Man in The Hague, Netherlands. The lyrics and music were written by Tony Hiller, Lee Sheriden, and Martin Lee, the latter two being members of the band. The song became a worldwide hit, reaching No.1 in many countries, including the UK, where it became the biggest-selling song of the year. Overall, it remains one of the biggest-selling Eurovision winners ever, and the biggest such seller in the UK.
Background and production
"Save Your Kisses for Me" was originally written by member Lee Sheriden in August 1974. On bringing the song in to the next songwriting session, others thought that the title was clumsy and reworked it into "Oceans of Love". Sheriden was unhappy with the changes and the song was shelved. A year later when it came to coming up with songs for the next album, they discovered that they needed one more song and Sheriden again put forth "Save Your Kisses for Me". This time it was accepted, as he later recalled:
Love and Kisses from Brotherhood of Man (usually referred to as simply Love and Kisses) is the second album released by the new line-up of British pop group Brotherhood of Man. It was released in the UK the day before their 1976 Eurovision win with "Save Your Kisses for Me", which the album contained. In some European countries the album was released in October 1975 with a slightly different track listing.
Background
In line with their previous album, the style of the album's tracks was more soul-based than the pure pop for which the group would become famous. Due to this, the single "Save Your Kisses for Me" is somewhat out of place on the album, although pop is also present on the track "Cry Thief". Like the group's other albums, the songs were produced by manager Tony Hiller.
During recording sessions for the previous album, member Lee Sheriden had come up with a song called "Save Your Kisses for Me", which was then reworked into "Ocean of Love". Sheriden was unhappy with the changes and shelved the song. During writing sessions for this album, they discovered they needed one more song and Sheriden presented this song again in its original form. This time it was accepted and Sheriden himself sang lead vocals. The decision was then taken for other male member Martin Lee to sing it, which Sheriden was satisfied with.

This anthem - originally written by Harry Dixon Loes as a Christian children's song - became a musical symbol of the civil rights movement in the 1960s and 70s. It's a song that brought people together at that time of challenge and strife, united by its central message of confidence and peace. The arrangement was made by Stacey V. Eurovision 1976 - United Kingdom
Brotherhood of Man performing (and cutely dancing to) "Save Your Kisses for Me", the UK entry at the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest.
After winning that year's vote by one of the largest margins in ESC history, this song became one of the biggest hits to come out of the contest, even scoring big in the US (something quite rare for a Eurovision entry). It especially soared in the British charts, of course, where the group subsequently had two more #1 hits with songs "Figaro" and "Angelo".

Here is the second single from our EP, 'The Library, Vol. 4. It's an arrangement that's been in the library for a few decades now, and it's a total gem. The song is iconic, the harmony is delicious, and our instrumental collaborators are wonderful. The film comes from A Fly on the Wall productions.

Gibbs for our 'Finding Harmony' album which we released in 2020.

Lyrics:
Save your kisses for me
Show me how you miss me
All so easily my lovin'
Save your kisses for me
'Cos I don't wanna be
A summer love thing
The way of your touch is always heavenly
And I love the way that you're loving me
You wrapped me up in the color of your love
You must be an angel high from above
How can I be sure that you won't go
And what will be
Save your kisses for me
Show me how you miss me
All so easily my lovin'
Save your kisses for me
'Cos I don't wanna be
A summer love thing
Are you gonna be there when I need someone
And will I be always just the only one
I don't wanna have just another heartbreak
So tell me is your love true or a fake
How can I be sure that you won't go
And what will be
Save your kisses for me
Show me how you miss me
All so easily my lovin'
Save your kisses for me
'Cos I don't wanna be
A summer love thing
One kiss, one love, one word
One vow and nothing more
One night, one dream
Gonna save it, save it for me
Save your kisses for me
Show me how you miss me
All so easily my lovin'
Save your kisses for me
'Cos I don't wanna be
A summer love thing
Show me how you miss me
I don't wanna be
A summer love thing
Save your kisses for me
'Cos I don't wanna be
A summer love thing
Save your kisses for me

Why do I do, just as you say Why must I just, give you your way Why do I sigh, why don't I try to forget It must have been, That something lovers call fate Kept me saying: "I have to wait" I saw them all, Just couldn't fall 'til we met It had to be you, it had to be you I wandered around, and finally found The somebody who Could make me be true, And could make me be blue And even be glad, just to be sad Thinking of you Some others I've seen, Might never be mean Might never be cross, Or try to be boss But they wouldn't do For nobody else, gave me a thrill With all your faults, I Love you still It had to be you, wonderful you It had to be you
