The Crown Colony of Sarawak was a BritishCrown colony established in 1946 shortly after the dissolution of British Military Administration.
Administration
The Governor of British Crown Colony of Sarawak (Malay: Tuan Yang Terutama Gabenor Koloni Mahkota British Sarawak) was the position created by the British Government upon the cession of Sarawak from the Brooke Administration in 1946. The appointment was made by King George VI, and later Queen Elizabeth II until the self-government of Sarawak on 22 July 1963 and the forming of the Federation of Malaysia on 1963. After the formation of Malaysia, the title was changed to 'Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak', which also means 'His Excellency The Governor of Sarawak', or 'His Excellency The Head of State of Sarawak' and the appointment was later made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong or King of Malaysia.
The official residence of the Governor of Sarawak at that time was The Astana, located at the North bank of the Sarawak River.
Sarawak (Malay pronunciation:[saˈrawaʔ]) is one of the two Malaysian states on the island of Borneo. It is also one of the founding members of the Malaysian federation alongside North Borneo (now Sabah), Singapore (expelled in 1965) and the Federation of Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia or West Malaysia). This territory has a certain level of autonomy in administration, immigration, and judiciary which differentiates it from the rest of the Malaysian Peninsula states. It is also known as Bumi Kenyalang ("Land of the Hornbills").
Sarawak is situated on the northwest Borneo, bordering the state of Sabah to the northeast, Kalimantan Borneo to the south, and surrounding the independent state of Brunei. Capital city is Kuching. The city is also the economic centre of state and seat of Sarawak state government. Other cities and towns are Miri, Sibu, and Bintulu. As of the last census (2015), the state population was 2,636,000. Sarawak has an equatorial climate with tropical rainforests and abundant animal and plant species. The state has several prominent cave systems at Gunung Mulu National Park. Rajang River is the longest river in Malaysia. Bakun Dam, one of the largest dams in Southeast Asia is located at one of the tributaries of the Rajang River. Mount Murud is the highest point in Sarawak.

Fair Land Sarawak - Anthem of the Crown Colony of Sarawak
{——————————————————————————^•…`|ENGLISH|´…•^—————————————————————————}
“Fair Land Sarawak” was the anthem for the Crown Colony of Sarawak, the nation of Sarawak, later the Malaysian state of Sarawak. It was taken from the melody of “Gone Forth Beyond the Sea”, a Brooke-era anthem of Sarawak, and the lyrics were written by F. C. Ogden. It was used from 1946 until 31 August 1973.
The music, which oversaw its use during the Brooke dynasty rule of Sarawak, had an unknown composer. Nevertheless, it was rearranged by George R. K. Freeth to suite the lyrics of F. C. Ogden. It was extensively used when Sarawak became a Crown Colony, and during Sarawak’s brief independence on 15 September 1963, and when Sarawak joined the Federation of Malaysia. Fair Land Sarawak
Lyrics:
English:
Fair Land Sarawak
We will never cease to honour thee
and with our loyal sons
Defend your liberty
From your high forest hills,
Down to the open sea
May freedom ever reign
Men live in unity
Proudly our Flag flies high
above our Country strong and free
Long may our People live
in peace and harmony

It was extensively used when Sarawak became a Crown Colony, and during Sarawak’s brief independence on 15 September 1963, and when Sarawak joined the Federation of Malaysia. It fell from use during the federation’s independence day in 1973, and was replaced with “Sarawak Bahagia”, alongside the coat of arms and flag.
Sarawak Day is annually celebrated on 22 July every year. It marks the date (22 July 1963) when the people of Sarawak was given confidence in self governance where a ministerial cabinet was first formed among native Sarawakians, under guidance of the British Governor of Sarawak. Some would consider the date to be Sarawak’s independence day, though it would be false as Sarawak had only achieved full sovereignty after the British Governor left Sarawak on 15 September 1963, making way for preparations of the Federation. Alas, it can still be celebrated as the day local Sarawakians were entrusted with their own affairs after centuries of Bruneian and later British rule.
{——————————————————————————^•…`|MALAY|´…•^—————————————————————————}

Ketika menyampaikan ucapan penggulungan pada persidangan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Rabu lalu, Abang Johari berkata, Kerajaan Sarawak merancang membangunkan lapangan terbang antarabangsa baharu susulan pengambilalihan MASwings.

A man from the USA trying to discover the world one place at a time, while sharing the experiences through my lens. I like traveling to places that are usually not first on most people’s itinerary and showing everyone that these places are worth the journey. I want to experience all the countries I visit as a member of the society but at the same time learn about the culture, food and beautiful people. Growth is not achievable without leaving your comfort zone, so just do it!

{——————————————————————————^•…`|MALAY|´…•^—————————————————————————}

The author of the tune is unknown, and it may originate in plainchant; but an attribution to the composer John Bull is sometimes made.

Fair Land Sarawak
Lyrics:
English:
Fair Land Sarawak
We will never cease to honour thee
and with our loyal sons
Defend your liberty
From your high forest hills,
Down to the open sea
May freedom ever reign
Men live in unity
Proudly our Flag flies high
above our Country strong and free
Long may our People live
in peace and harmony

Who am I?
A man from the USA trying to discover the world one place at a time, while sharing the experiences through my lens. I like traveling to places that are usually not first on most people’s itinerary and showing everyone that these places are worth the journey. I want to experience all the countries I visit as a member of the society but at the same time learn about the culture, food and beautiful people. Growth is not achievable without leaving your comfort zone, so just do it!
