Rolling Stone
Rolling Stone is a biweekly magazine that focuses on popular culture. It was founded in San Francisco in 1967 by Jann Wenner, who is still the magazine's publisher, and music critic Ralph J. Gleason. It was first known for its musical coverage and for political reporting by Hunter S. Thompson. In the 1990s, the magazine shifted focus to a younger readership interested in youth-oriented television shows, film actors, and popular music. In recent years, it has resumed its traditional mix of content.
History
Rolling Stone magazine was founded in San Francisco in 1967 by Jann Wenner. To get it off the ground, Wenner borrowed $7,500 from his own family and from the parents of his soon-to-be wife, Jane Schindelheim. The first issue carried a cover date of November 9, 1967, and was in newspaper format with a lead article on the Monterey Pop Festival. The cover price was 35¢ (equivalent to $2.48 today).
In the first issue, Wenner explained that the title of the magazine referred to the 1950 blues song, "Rollin' Stone", recorded by Muddy Waters, the rock and roll band the Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan's hit single "Like a Rolling Stone". Some authors have attributed the name solely to Dylan's hit single: "At [Ralph] Gleason's suggestion, Wenner named his magazine after a Bob Dylan song."Rolling Stone initially identified with and reported the hippie counterculture of the era. However, it distanced itself from the underground newspapers of the time, such as Berkeley Barb, embracing more traditional journalistic standards and avoiding the radical politics of the underground press. In the very first edition, Wenner wrote that Rolling Stone "is not just about the music, but about the things and attitudes that music embraces".

Rolling Stone (Uganda)
Rolling Stone was a weekly tabloid newspaper published in Kampala, Uganda. The paper published its first issue on 23 August 2010, under the direction of 22-year-old Giles Muhame and two classmates from Kampala's Makerere University. According to Muhame, the paper's title was derived from the local word enkurungu: "It's a metaphor for something that strikes with lightning speed, that can kill someone if it is thrown at them". It suspended publication in November 2010, after the High Court ruled that it had violated the fundamental rights of LGBT Ugandans by attempting to out them and calling for their deaths. The paper was small, with a circulation of approximately 2000 copies. One of those listed, David Kato, was subsequently murdered.
The Ugandan paper is unaffiliated with the American magazine Rolling Stone, which later described the Ugandan paper's actions as "horrific" and protested its choice of name.
Reporting on homosexuality
On 9 October 2010, the newspaper published a front page article—titled "100 Pictures of Uganda's Top Homos Leak"—that listed the names, addresses, and photographs of 100 homosexuals alongside a yellow banner that read "Hang Them". The paper also alleged that homosexuals aimed to "recruit" Ugandan children. This publication attracted international attention and criticism from human rights organizations, such as Amnesty International,No Peace Without Justice and the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association. According to gay rights activists, many Ugandans have been attacked since the publication as a result of their real or perceived sexual orientation. One woman was reportedly almost killed when her neighbors began to stone her house.

It was a grisly sight: a murdered chimpanzee, his body beaten, bloodied—and partially cannibalized—by the community he used to lead. Rare video captures the deadly end to a tale of chimpanzee social politics. Researchers had been observing a group of chimpanzees in Senegal since 2005. Rare video captures the deadly end to a tale of chimpanzee social politics. Researchers had been observing a group of chimpanzees in Senegal since 2005. They identified one chimp, Foudouko, as the alpha leader. Two years later he fell from power, overthrown by a group of younger males. He lived on the outskirts of the group for years before attempting to return in mid-2013. He was killed by his former followers, a rare instance in which a chimp was killed within its own community.

Still, even modern television has its rules. Today, American television, radio, and cable are all monitored by the Federal Communications Commission. It was founded in 1934 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the organization has been governing television ever since. Of course, the definition of inappropriate has changed a lot over the years, and the FCC has become more relaxed over time. While many sitcoms and reality TV shows will do their best to sneak dirty jokes through the watchful eyes of FCC, there are just some things that go too far.
At the same time, while television has become more relaxed in some ways, we've also set a higher standard in others. For example, there are many older TV shows which used racist caricatures, something that would never fly today. As the world changes, people are finally recognizing that certain words, jokes, and actions can be extremely offensive, and even harmless, to other groups of people.
Television has also imposed more strict safety guidelines, both for the people involved on set, as well as any animals that might be involved.
Even with the rules we have, alongside more subtle rules of what's considered socially acceptable, there will always be people who try and get away with as much as they can. In today's video, we're going to look at 6 times that TV shows took things too far.

Recorded before a live audience in London in 1968, The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was originally conceived as a BBC-TV special. Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, it centers on the original line up of The Rolling Stones -- Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman (with Nicky Hopkins and Rocky Dijon) -- who serves as both the show’s hosts and featured attraction. For the first time in front of an audience, “The World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band” performs six Stones classics. The program also includes extraordinary performances by The Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, Yoko Ono, and The Dirty Mac. Rolling Stone
Rolling Stone is a biweekly magazine that focuses on popular culture. It was founded in San Francisco in 1967 by Jann Wenner, who is still the magazine's publisher, and music critic Ralph J. Gleason. It was first known for its musical coverage and for political reporting by Hunter S. Thompson. In the 1990s, the magazine shifted focus to a younger readership interested in youth-oriented television shows, film actors, and popular music. In recent years, it has resumed its traditional mix of content.
History
Rolling Stone magazine was founded in San Francisco in 1967 by Jann Wenner. To get it off the ground, Wenner borrowed $7,500 from his own family and from the parents of his soon-to-be wife, Jane Schindelheim. The first issue carried a cover date of November 9, 1967, and was in newspaper format with a lead article on the Monterey Pop Festival. The cover price was 35¢ (equivalent to $2.48 today).
In the first issue, Wenner explained that the title of the magazine referred to the 1950 blues song, "Rollin' Stone", recorded by Muddy Waters, the rock and roll band the Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan's hit single "Like a Rolling Stone". Some authors have attributed the name solely to Dylan's hit single: "At [Ralph] Gleason's suggestion, Wenner named his magazine after a Bob Dylan song."Rolling Stone initially identified with and reported the hippie counterculture of the era. However, it distanced itself from the underground newspapers of the time, such as Berkeley Barb, embracing more traditional journalistic standards and avoiding the radical politics of the underground press. In the very first edition, Wenner wrote that Rolling Stone "is not just about the music, but about the things and attitudes that music embraces".

In 2018, China announced a $3.1 billion dollar investment in the Uganda-China Industrial Park project, located in the Eastern Ugandan district of Tororo. The ambitious project aimed to transform Uganda's economy by creating a hub for manufacturing, processing, and exporting products to the East African region and beyond. The project is expected to generate over 100,000 jobs in the first phase alone, and create a significant boost to Uganda's economy.
The industrial park covers an area of 2,200 acres and is set to house more than 80 factories, ranging from food processing to automobile manufacturing. The project also includes the construction of a modern airport, a railway line, and a power station to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

It was a grisly sight: a murdered chimpanzee, his body beaten, bloodied—and partially cannibalized—by the community he used to lead. Rare video captures the deadly end to a tale of chimpanzee social politics. Researchers had been observing a group of chimpanzees in Senegal since 2005. They identified one chimp, Foudouko, as the alpha leader. Two years later he fell from power, overthrown by a group of younger males. He lived on the outskirts of the group for years before attempting to return in mid-2013. He was killed by his former followers, a rare instance in which a chimp was killed within its own community.

You can get away with a lot on television these days, but there are still plenty of examples of TV shows that went too far. The definitions of obscene and inappropriate have relaxed a lot since television shows were first created. If you transported someone from the 1950s to watch today's television, they would be shocked and outraged by the amount of cursing you can get away with!
Still, even modern television has its rules. Today, American television, radio, and cable are all monitored by the Federal Communications Commission. It was founded in 1934 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the organization has been governing television ever since. Of course, the definition of inappropriate has changed a lot over the years, and the FCC has become more relaxed over time. While many sitcoms and reality TV shows will do their best to sneak dirty jokes through the watchful eyes of FCC, there are just some things that go too far.
At the same time, while television has become more relaxed in some ways, we've also set a higher standard in others. For example, there are many older TV shows which used racist caricatures, something that would never fly today. As the world changes, people are finally recognizing that certain words, jokes, and actions can be extremely offensive, and even harmless, to other groups of people.
Television has also imposed more strict safety guidelines, both for the people involved on set, as well as any animals that might be involved.
Even with the rules we have, alongside more subtle rules of what's considered socially acceptable, there will always be people who try and get away with as much as they can. In today's video, we're going to look at 6 times that TV shows took things too far.

Nirvana was an American rock band formed in Aberdeen, Washington, in 1987. Founded by lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic, the band went through a succession of drummers, most notably Chad Channing, before recruiting Dave Grohl in 1990. Characterized by their punk aesthetic, Nirvana's fusion of pop melodies with noise, combined with their themes of abjection and social alienation, brought them global popularity. Following extensive tours and the 1992 compilation album Incesticide and EP Hormoaning, the band released their highly anticipated third studio album, In Utero (1993). The album topped both the US and UK album charts, and was acclaimed by critics. Nirvana disbanded following Cobain's suicide in April 1994. Various posthumous releases have been overseen by Novoselic, Grohl, and Cobain's widow Courtney Love. The posthumous live album MTV Unplugged in New York (1994) won Best Alternative Music Performance at the 1996 Grammy Awards.
Nirvana is one of the best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 75 million records worldwide. During their three years as a mainstream act, Nirvana received an American Music Award, Brit Award and Grammy Award, as well as seven MTV Video Music Awards and two NME Awards. They achieved five number-one hits on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart and four number-one albums on the Billboard 200. In 2004, Rolling Stone named Nirvana among the 100 greatest artists of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility in 2014.
