How J.I. Rodale Started Organic Gardening Magazine - Story told by Patricia Bragg - Interview 1/12
J.I. Rodale was an inventor before stumbling across one of "Health Crusader" Paul Bragg's lectures in Pennsylvania. Patricia Bragg, daughter of Paul Bragg, tells the story of how her dad spoke with "Young Rodale" after the lecture and then introduced the young man to organic gardening and inspired him to "wave the banner" for all else to see.
He later created Rodale Publishing with the creations of Organic Gardening Magazine and Prevention Magazine under its umbrella. These magazines were huge successes and are still widely subscribed to today. Today Rodale Press is one of the largest independent publishers in the world.
