Daphné (born 1974) is a French singer. Her first album, L'émeraude (The Emerald), was released in 2005.
Biography
Daphné was born in Clermont-Ferrand, Puy-de-Dôme, France but never actually lived in the prefecture of Auvergne. She has stayed in Paris, Poitiers in the Poitou region, the Alps and even abroad.
Daphné has always been a huge fan of Henry Purcell, Mozart and Maurice Ravel. Her modern musical tastes include Stevie Wonder and Sting but she says the latter did not influence her own work. Technically speaking, the most important thing for her in writing a song is finding the right tune because "tunes carry emotions". Sometimes referred to as the French Björk, Daphné's entrancing voice often has her compared to a fairy. She confesses that she "would love to touch the hearts of people who stopped believing in their dreams, in their lives, who only think of running away..."
Her first album, which could be defined as trip hop with a touch of pop and chanson, just illustrates this frame of mind. Le réveil (The Awakening) is about being happy in love and confident in the future. Anna is about the end of innocence. Un homme sous influence (A Man Under Influence) is about rejection while Ton cœur (Your Heart) is an ode to trust. Trafalgar Square tells how the sun always shines again after the rain. L'insoumise (The Rebel) and Il viaggio (The Journey), a song in Italian, are both about the essential need to stand for oneself, to resist, to fight against oneself and society to uncover one's true personality and eventually see love as it is: a liberation.
Daphne, Op. 82, is an opera in one act by Richard Strauss, subtitled "Bucolic Tragedy in One Act". The German libretto was by Joseph Gregor. The opera is based loosely on the mythological figure Daphne from Ovid's Metamorphoses and includes elements taken from The Bacchae by Euripides. The opera premiered at the Semperoper in Dresden on 15 October 1938, originally intended as a double bill with Strauss' Friedenstag, but as the scale of Daphne grew, that idea was abandoned. The conductor of the first performance was Karl Böhm, to whom the opera was dedicated.
The chaste girl Daphne sings a hymn of praise to nature. She loves the sunlight as trees and flowers do, but she has no interest in human romance. She cannot return the love of her childhood friend Leukippos, and she refuses to put on the ceremonial clothes for the coming festival of Dionysos, leaving Leukippos with the dress she has rejected.
Daphne (/ˈdæfniː/; Greek: Δάφνη, meaning "laurel") is a genus of between 50 and 95 species of deciduous and evergreenshrubs in the family Thymelaeaceae, native to Asia, Europe and north Africa. They are noted for their scented flowers and poisonous berries.
Description
The leaves are undivided, mostly arranged alternately (although opposite in D. genkwa). The flowers lack petals and have four (rarely five) petaloidsepals, tubular at the base with free lobes at the apex. The flowers are grouped, either in clusters in the leaf axils towards the end of the stems or in terminal heads. They range in colour from greenish-yellow to white, bright pink and purple; most of the evergreen species have greenish flowers, while the deciduous species tend to have pink flowers. Many species flower in late winter or very early spring. The fruits are one-seeded drupes, which in some species are fleshy and berry-like, in others dry and leathery.
Selected Species
Hybrids
Numerous natural and artificial hybrids are cultivated as ornamental plants. These include:
Trousers (pants in North America) are an item of clothing worn from the waist to the ankles, covering both legs separately (rather than with cloth extending across both legs as in robes, skirts, and dresses).
In the UK the word "pants" generally means underwear and not trousers.Shorts are similar to trousers, but with legs that come down only to around the area of the knee, higher or lower depending on the style of the garment. To distinguish them from shorts, trousers may be called "long trousers" in certain contexts such as school uniform, where tailored shorts may be called "short trousers", especially in the UK.
In most of the Western world, trousers have been worn since ancient times and throughout the Medieval period, becoming the most common form of lower-body clothing for adult males in the modern world, although shorts are also widely worn, and kilts and other garments may be worn in various regions and cultures. Breeches were worn instead of trousers in early modern Europe by some men in higher classes of society. Since the mid-20th century, trousers have increasingly been worn by women as well. Jeans, made of denim, are a form of trousers for casual wear, now widely worn all over the world by both sexes. Shorts are often preferred in hot weather or for some sports and also often by children and teenagers. Trousers are worn on the hips or waist and may be held up by their own fastenings, a belt or suspenders (braces). Leggings are form-fitting trousers, of a clingy material, often knittedcotton and spandex (elastane).
In relation to the canon law of the Roman Catholic Church, canonists give rules for the exact interpretation and acceptation of words, in order that decrees may be correctly understood and the extent of their obligation determined.
Authentic interpretation
An authentic interpretation is an official interpretation of a statute issued by the statute's legislator. In canon law, an authentic interpretation has the force of law.
Besides the Pope, who has plenary legislative power, there are several other legislative authorities in the Roman Catholic Church with varying degrees of authority. Primary examples are diocesan bishops and their equivalents, episcopal conferences, and particular councils. Any of these legislators can issue authentic interpretations of their laws and their predecessor's laws. These authentic interpretations trump even administrative decisions of ordinaries and judgments of ecclesiastical courts, for neither of those acts have the force of law like an authentic interpretation. The effect of an authentic interpretation depends on the extent of the interpretation:

Daphne Plant Profile
Daphne (Daphne spp.) is a small shrub with highly fragrant flowers in late winter and early spring. Many of them are evergreen. Daphne shrubs are hardy to USDA zones 4 to 9.
Daphnes need great drainage. Plant them in a raised bed or on a slight slope. If you have clay soil, amend it with lots of leaf compost and spread a layer of poultry grit or expanded slate in the bottom of the planting hole. Be careful not to over water it, but note that it should not be left to dry out as that will damage its delicate feeder roots.
They need morning sun and afternoon shade to thrive. Plant it in a protected location that is at least shielded from cold, drying winds.

How do I take care of a Daphne Plant?
One of the best Flowering Shrubs in winter . Guaranteed to lift your spirits when little else is in bloom. Daphne flowers have an incredible fragrance, so it's a good idea to grow one near a path or a door so you can enjoy its scent as much as possible.
Daphnes are excellent plants for small gardens. Most varieties are evergreen, providing extra colour and structure in the winter garden. Daphne flowers are also excellent for cutting, and their fragrance intensifies when they're brought indoors.

Daphne, Eternal Fragrance - Light Prune Before Winter December 9
This Daphne has been blooming since Spring so I cannot find a good window to give it a light prune. Still in blooms in December but figure this may be the best time. Lifting the bottom opens up the pot for easier watering, fertilizing and clean up. Besides, would like it to grow taller since its neighbors are.

Daphnes are known to be temperamental and are sensitive to certain pathogens and root rot. They are prone to sudden, inexplicable death. They also resent being moved so plant them well and do not move them again.
Note that the berries and all parts of Daphne odora are poisonous, so be cautious about planting them where young children or pets may eat them.
Daphne odora grows three to four feet tall, with a two to four foot spread, and forms a dense mound.
Daphne odora ‘Aureo-Marginata’ is the most aromatic of the species as well as much being hardier than other cultivars.
Daphne x burkwoodii ‘Carol Mackie’ is a genetic mutation or chimera of Daphne x burkwoodii ‘Somerset’. It is prized for its stunning variegation and fragrant bloom. It was originally discovered in a New Jersey garden.

About me:
I'm a real mixture. Half Italian, Half Austrian, Brought up in Australia and married to a British/Irish man. I have been living in the UK for 20+ years.
I love gardening. I especially love growing fruit and vegetables. And the more exotic they are the better. I also love cooking. Give me an ingredient and I'll make you something delicious. Being brought up in the Southern Hemisphere I do miss the ingredients you used to get from the greengrocers, so I now try to grow them here in the Northern Hemisphere, which is a challenge but I love trying.
Susybliving is my lifestyle journey. I really enjoy sharing my experiences of growing and cooking what I grow. I hope you will as well.
Daphne Perfume Princess™ is not just any ordinary daphne!
It has: Large blooms - up to 4x the size of traditional daphne blooms; Intense perfume with citrus undertones; And clusters of blooms that progress down the stem like no other daphne.
Daphne Perfume Princess™ is a unique and enchanting daphne that should be on everyone’s list of ‘must have’ daphnes. It’s the earliest and longest flowering of all daphnes, with one of the sweetest fragrances that is enhanced with its soft citrus undertones.

Care, pruning and propagation of the Daphne Odora shrub in my garden. As an amateur gardener its important to have plants that are relatively easy to care for. In this video I show how I care for the Daphne, prune it and for the first time attempt to take cuttings.

This Daphne has been blooming since Spring so I cannot find a good window to give it a light prune. Still in blooms in December but figure this may be the best time. Lifting the bottom opens up the pot for easier watering, fertilizing and clean up. Besides, would like it to grow taller since its neighbors are.
