Beijing Connection - This ending wasn't the one that I wanted (Official Lyric Video)
This ending wasn’t the one that I wanted mengingatkan kita tentang pentingnya mendengarkan suara hati yang paling jujur, yang terkadang tenggelam oleh berb...

There are no people in Beijing, the subway is empty!
Have you noticed that there are fewer and fewer people in Beijing this year? The post-Chinese New Year period is typically when people return home, but this year many houses cannot be rented out, and the streets are relatively quiet.

The largest market in Beijing, China, with a wide variety of delicious food
The market address for this visit: Shahe Market, Changping District, Beijing, China
In the modern city of Beijing, there is a place full of fireworks, that is Shahe Market. Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the Shahe Market on the side of the G6 auxiliary road of the Beijing-Tibet Expressway will be lively, and people from downtown Beijing will gather here. Compared with the high-rise buildings in the city, Shahe Market is particularly simple and noisy. There is no air conditioning and exquisite decoration here, only the fragrance of the soil and the shouting of the market. Grandpas and aunts carry handcarts and shuttle between the stalls, picking fresh fruits and vegetables and affordable daily necessities. In recent years, Shahe Market has also become a check-in place for many young p...

In recent years, Shahe Market has also become a check-in place for many young people. They are looking for memories of old Beijing here and feeling the unique market culture. Three or five friends meet up to look for food in the market and taste traditional snacks from all over the country. This film focuses on recording more than a dozen street food, including Beijing stewed fire cake, Northeast smoked meat pancake, Shaanxi sauerkraut noodles, Old Beijing donkey rolls, Henan steamed stewed noodles, Northeast pot-fried pork, Northeast cold noodles, Henan pan-fried buns, Shandong Danxian mutton soup, Shaanxi Biangbiang noodles, dried plum cakes, crispy fried dough sticks, Fujian Qianlixiang wontons, hot and sour noodles, glutinous rice wine, etc. Through this film, you can learn more about the life of ordinary citizens in Beijing, China.
This is Shijingji 😊, if you like my video, please like and subscribe!

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

In this video, we’re gonna learn how to understand Chinese people from Beijing and generally northern China when they start speaking fast in real life!
Basically, a LOT of words end up being pronounced pretty differently from how they show up in your Chinese textbooks, so even if you’ve been studying for a long time, it might be hard to understand natives!
If you’ve ever been to Beijing, you’re probably familiar with the “pirate-like” ARRR (also known as 儿化) that’s typical there and throughout most of Northern China, as well as Sichuan and Chongqing.
You might also have heard the classic “Bu’r dao” from a Beijing taxi driver, but the thing is that all of these pronunciation features have rules, and learning them will REALLY help you understand fast Chinese speech better.
PLUS, not only will this help improve your listening skills, it’ll make you sound more authentic (地道 dìdao) when speaking! Who doesn’t want that!
Today we cover:
00:00 Intro
00:21 How textbook Mandarin and REAL Mandarin are different
01:20 Neutral tones & Rhythm in Standard Mandarin and Beijing Mandarin
02:56 How Tones are exaggerated in Bejing Mandarin
03:54 ERHUA (The R sound) sound in Beijing Mandarin
06:42 When Beijingers use 您
07:36 Commonly-Used Pronouns are pronounced differently
09:06 When “w” becomes “v”
09:45 Finals “a/e/en” are easily dropped or softened
10:39 When “zh/sh” become “r”
11:54 When “j” becomes “y”
12:16 "Y" could be dropped
12:26 "H" could be dropped
13:20 The VERY Beijing “th” sound
14:01 How syllables merge
14:24 NEVER change the beginning of a sentence
Remember, Chinese makes perfect sense!

Chinese Railways - BJ & DF5 class diesel locomotives work trains on the Nanpiao coal railway
The Nanpiao coal railway was a quite well known steam railway for many years in China using a fleet of SY steam locomotives. The railway replaced these with BJ (or Beijing) class diesel locomotives which have become a rarity themselves these days. Most of the BJ class had also been retired and were always known in Nanpiao for their scruffy appearance. The mine has had a resurgance in recent years which has prompted them to purchase seven DF5 diesel locomotives. One BJ class was kept in use, and freshly overhauled just prior to my visit, to work the spoil line where the DF5's couldn't owing to the heavier axle load. Just after my visit, a second BJ was announced to return to service. Sadly the working BJ class had a collision with a truck at a level crossing in 2017 and both BJ's were put u...

Chinese Railways - Freight & Passenger Trains Hauled by Diesel & Electric Traction at Luopoling, BJ
A large compilation from a day out on the Fengsha line at Luopoling. This is a stunningly scenic line and close to Beijing, heading north west to Zhangjiakou. This was my second visit to Luopoling and the difference in less than a year was huge. Far fewer diesels were seen and the 8K class was nearly gone completely.
The trains are listed below as follows :
0:19 - east bound passenger train HXD3C 0515 with double decker stock & west bound HXD2 1152 with container train
1:18 - K886 passenger service with HXD3C 0558
2:08 - SS4G 0613 with west bound train of high capacity C70C hoppers plus east bound DF4B 6388 light engine.
3:42 - SS4G 7238 heading west with long container train
4:26 - Double header HXD2 1100 and 8K 100 move a long train of hoppers west bound.

Chinese Railways - DF12 and HXN5B's Shunting Trains Around Urumqi, Xinjiang Province & Some Mainline
Various trains passing through Urumqi West. , Up until recently, Urumqi was completely in the hands of the diesels. Now with electrification, at least five different electric types were found with eight types of diesel locomotives. The highlight for me was finding the elusive DF12 diesels running push pull trains of coal to the steelworks. Footage was taken on a pedestrian bridge spanning the yard near the locomotive depot at Urumqi West.
Apologies for the severe camera shakes in places. My poor Video camera had copped a real smack during my travels which permanently affected the stability. it was retired a few days later on the completion of the trip!

Chinese Railways - Cab ride in DF 东风 2026 diesel locomotive shunting wagons @ Kunming copper smelter
A two hour cab ride in one of China's oldest operational diesel locomotives, the freshly overhauled DF #2026. At the time it was estimated it would remain in service for another 5 years, however recent news is it will be retired within weeks (at time of posting this video). My friend Steve and I had a fantastic afternoon with the crew shunting wagons in and out of the huge copper factory in northern Kunming.

Chinese Railways - Didao Coal Mine Rwy System in Winter, Jixi, Heilongjiang Province - GKD1A, DF4B
Video shot on the Didao mining railway at Jixi. Surprisingly, this part of the Jixi coal railway network was the busiest of the three visited, quite opposite to my first trip here some ten years prior. We arrived a bit late in the day, but were treated to a number of trains in only a couple of hours.

Sadly the working BJ class had a collision with a truck at a level crossing in 2017 and both BJ's were put up for sale.
