The film opens in the countryside outside the fictional town of Lahood, California, and takes place sometime in the 1870s or early 1880s (based on remarks in the film about outlawing hydraulic mining). Thugs working for big-time miner Coy LaHood ride in and destroy the camp of a group of struggling miners and their families who have settled in nearby Carbon Canyon and are panning for gold there. In leaving, they also shoot the little dog of fourteen-year-old Megan Wheeler. As Megan buries it in the woods and prays for a miracle, we see a stranger heading to the town on horseback.
Megan's mother, Sarah, is keeping company with Hull Barret, the leader of the miners. Hull heads off into town to pick up supplies, where the same thugs start to beat him up and he is rescued by the stranger, who takes the men on single-handedly. Hull invites him to his house, and while Eastwood's character is washing, Hull notices what looks like six bullet wounds to his back. Shortly after, he appears wearing a clerical collar and thereafter is called Preacher.
Pale Rider is the debut full-length album from Western Australian hip hop artist, Drapht. It was released in October 2003 through Australian Hip Hop label, Syllabolix Records. The album features contributions by MC Layla, Dazastah, Optamus and Hunter. Tracks were produced by Dazastah, Optamus or Fdel. Matt Unicomb in 3D World describes the album as being "one of Western Australia's defining hip hop achievements."
Overview
The ninth track on the album, "Weather Man", features samples from Eminem's "Square Dance". In a 2003 interview Drapht states that the title of the album is based on the Clint Eastwood movie of the same name and 'all my life being told that I have real pale skin'. The artwork is by Perth graffiti artist, Dash (who also produced the artwork for Brothers Grimm and The Life of Riley). It received national airplay on Triple J radio station.
In August 2008 Drapht told Ted Schlechte of Drum Media Perth that "I was fortunate to be hanging out with the Downsyde boys and the rest of SBX who were hugely influential. Essentially I got into music because it really amazed me how Daz [Dazastah] tackled his writing style with his witty punch-lines. Aggression was one thing I wanted to rid myself of though, at that time in my life it was my venting process. An angry teen mad at society, and myself. But we live to grow through that." Daniel Fosky of Scene described how the artist had developed "from the angst driven young Perth rapper leaking out" of Pale Rider. Drapht describes that at the time of writing the album he was like "all other teens"..."an angry, ignorant handful with an overload of self-importance and shutoff to the rest of the world." In another interview he has also stated that at that time he was "100% closed minded" and "just listened to hip-hop."
Ross' musical style on Pale Rider strays only slightly from his previous solo album, This Is the Life, and thus breaks his tradition of making significant shifts in musical direction on each of his solo albums. Despite the similarities in style, Pale Rider is, overall, a more vibrant and melodic album than its predecessor—despite its recurring themes of death and mortality.
One of the strongest songs expressing these themes is "In the End", which Ross dedicates to Deacon Blue guitaristGraeme Kelling, who died due to cancer before the album's release. The lyrics reference the last conversation Ross had with Kelling just prior to Kelling's passing.
Ross does not, however, break the tradition of featuring his wife and fellow Deacon Blue member Lorraine McIntosh on backing vocals for one track on the album. This time around, McIntosh is featured on "In this World".
The album also contains Ross' version of the song "She Gets Me Inside", which Ross wrote for recording artist Ronan Keating on Keating's album Turn It On.
Richard Donnell Ross (born January 26, 1960), known as "Freeway" Rick Ross, is an American author and convicted drug trafficker best known for the drug empire he established in Los Angeles, California, in the early to mid 1980s.
Ross has said that when he first saw crack-cocaine as a teenager in 1979, he did not immediately believe it was a drug because it looked different from other drugs he had seen.
The nickname Freeway came from Ross' owning properties along the Los Angeles Harbor Freeway and living next to the 110. According to an October 2013 Esquire magazine article, "Between 1982 and 1989, federal prosecutors estimated, Ross bought and resold several metric tons of cocaine. In 1980 Ross' gross earnings were said to be in excess of $900 million – with a profit of nearly $300 million. Converted roughly to present-day dollars: 2.5 billion gross, and $850 million in profit, respectively.” During the height of his drug dealing, Ross was said to have sold "$3 million in one day." According to the Oakland Tribune, "In the course of his rise, prosecutors estimate that Ross exported several tons of cocaine to New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and elsewhere, and made more than $600 million between 1983 and 1984."
Richard Alexander "Ricky" Ross (born 22 December 1957) is a Scottish singer-songwriter and broadcaster. He is the lead singer of the rock band Deacon Blue.
Biography
Ross was born in Dundee, Scotland, in 1957 and attended the High School of Dundee, an independent school. Before the formation of Deacon Blue, he released a solo album So Long Ago, on the Glasgow independent label Sticky Records. After the band's break-up in 1994, Ross resurrected his solo career and Epic released his second solo album What You Are in 1996. As Ross's first solo album So Long Ago was a minor release on a relatively minor label, What You Are became his first solo release on a major label and as such is generally regarded as his debut solo album for a major label, notwithstanding any current or future projects on either category of label. Or release.
Ross released another album, New Recording, on his own label in 1997.
After Deacon Blue's reunion in 1999 and the release of their Walking Back Home and Homesick albums, Ross entered into a new publishing deal with Warner Chappell UK, and released another solo album, This Is the Life, through Chrysalis Records's short-lived Papillion label, in 2002. Papillion had released Deacon Blue's Homesick album the previous year.

A nameless stranger who rides into a small California gold rush town finds himself in the middle of a feud between a mining syndicate and a group of independent prospectors.

From outer space he came to this world To conquer and rule - nothing is safe To suck it out like a spider a fly By his mental strength he controls The mankind and gave religion But their gods are so far away [Bridge:] It doesn't matter how many will die It doesn't matter how many will cry [Ref:] He is the Pale - Pale rider The bringer of death, suffer and pain Pale - Pale rider The lord of destruction is his name Behind the clouds their lives a tribe In a cold world where all life will die They wait for - for the helping hands All treasure he found here on this earth And at other planets he robbed too In thousands of years of his endless pain I am the Pale rider searching for superiority The world where I live is like hell so dark All hate around me I can understand
