Exercises (album)
Exercises is the second studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released in 1972. Although their music is most accurately described as "blues-tinged hardrock" (CD liner notes), this record is quite far from the band's more standard fare, featuring, quite surprisingly, a number of acoustic arrangements, several songs with orchestral strings, and traditional Scottish airs. Indeed, the album's "1692 (Glen Coe Massacre)" is about a real incident in Scottish history, namely, the massacre of Glencoe. The album is also significant for its Roy Thomas Baker production—only his third project, and well before his breakthrough works with Queen in the mid-seventies—and its oddly 'new wave' cover-art (designed by CCS Associates). An early version of the Razamanaz song, "Woke Up This Morning", also makes an appearance on Side 1.

Temporomandibular joint
The temporomandibular joint is the joint of the jaw and is frequently referred to as TMJ. The TMJ is a bilateral synovial articulation between the mandible and temporal bone. The name of the joint is derived from the two bones which form the joint: the upper temporal bone which is part of the cranium (skull), and the lower jawbone or mandible.
Structure
There are six main components of the TMJ.
Capsule and articular disc
The capsule is a dense fibrous membrane that surrounds the joint and incorporates the articular eminence. It attaches to the articular eminence, the articular disc and the neck of the mandibular condyle.
The unique feature of the TMJs is the articular disc. The disc is composed of fibrocartilagenous tissue that is positioned between the two bones that form the joint. The TMJs are one of the few synovial joints in the human body with an articular disc, another being the sternoclavicular joint. The disc divides each joint into two.These two compartments are synovial cavities, which consists of an upper and a lower synovial cavity. The synovial membrane lining the joint capsule produces the synovial fluid that fills these cavities.

Pain
Pain is a distressing feeling often caused by intense or damaging stimuli, such as stubbing a toe, burning a finger, putting alcohol on a cut, and bumping the "funny bone". Because it is a complex, subjective phenomenon, defining pain has been a challenge. The International Association for the Study of Pain's widely used definition states: "Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage." In medical diagnosis, pain is a symptom.
Pain motivates the individual to withdraw from damaging situations, to protect a damaged body part while it heals, and to avoid similar experiences in the future. Most pain resolves once the noxious stimulus is removed and the body has healed, but it may persist despite removal of the stimulus and apparent healing of the body. Sometimes pain arises in the absence of any detectable stimulus, damage or disease. Simple pain medications are useful in 20% to 70% of cases.

Pain (philosophy)
Philosophy of pain may be about suffering in general or more specifically about physical pain. The experience of pain is, due to its seeming universality, a very good portal through which to view various aspects of human life. Discussions in philosophy of mind concerning qualia has given rise to a body of knowledge called philosophy of pain, which is about pain in the narrow sense of physical pain, and which must be distinguished from philosophical works concerning pain in the broad sense of suffering. This article covers both topics.
Historical views of pain
Two near contemporaries in the 18th and 19th centuries, Jeremy Bentham and the Marquis de Sade had very different views on these matters. Bentham saw pain and pleasure as objective phenomena, and defined utilitarianism on that principle. However the Marquis de Sade offered a wholly different view - which is that pain itself has an ethics, and that pursuit of pain, or imposing it, may be as useful and just as pleasurable, and that this indeed is the purpose of the state - to indulge the desire to inflict pain in revenge, for instance, via the law (in his time most punishment was in fact the dealing out of pain). The 19th-century view in Europe was that Bentham's view had to be promoted, de Sade's (which it found painful) suppressed so intensely that it - as de Sade predicted - became a pleasure in itself to indulge. The Victorian culture is often cited as the best example of this hypocrisy.

Pain (musical project)
Pain (typeset as PAIN) is a musical project from Sweden that mix heavy metal with influences from electronic music and techno. The project started out as a hobby project for front man Peter Tägtgren, whose idea was to fuse heavy metal with 1980s-inspired electro-industrial and techno influences. Tägtgren, who is also the vocalist/guitarist of Hypocrisy and producer of his own The Abyss studios, is the only current member.
Pain's self-titled debut was released in 1997, and since then Pain has released six more albums and a DVD. Starting with their second, all of Pain's albums have made the Swedish charts, thanks in large part to hit singles such as "End of the Line", "Shut Your Mouth", and "Same Old Song". In early February 2006, Blabbermouth.net reported that Pain had signed with Roadrunner Records. Currently, Pain is under the Nuclear Blast Records banner.
In 2008, Pain was on tour as a supporting performer for the Finnish symphonic power metal band Nightwish. During this tour singer Peter Tägtgren, drummer David Wallin, and bassist Johan Husgafvel were assaulted by a gang in Leipzig. Tägtgren received 10 stitches in his face, Wallin suffered a concussion and stitches to his head, and Husgafvel had his nose broken.

Taryn had Severe TMJoint Pain and was Locked (close-lock) for over 6 months. One day post op.
Taryn was having severe jaw pain due to a close-lock dislocation of her TMJoint. Unfortunatelty, most dentists do not understand the importance of reducing a close-lock as quickly as possible. The temporomandibular joint -- the TMJ - is the joint between the lower jawbone - the mandible - and the temporal bone of the skull. The TMJ is responsible for jaw movement and is the most used joint in the body. The TMJ is essentially the articulation between the condyle of the mandible and the mandibular fossa - a socket in the temporal bone. The unique feature of the TMJ is the articular disc - a flexible and elastic cartilage that serves as a cushion between the two bone surfaces. The disc lacks nerve endings and blood vessels in its center and therefore is insensitive to pain. Anteriorly it attaches to lateral pterygoid muscle - a muscle of chewing. Posteriorly it continues as retrodiscal tissue fully supplied with blood vessels and nerves.
The mandible is the only bone that moves when the mouth opens. The first 20 mm opening involves only a rotational movement of the condyle within the socket. For the mouth to open wider, the condyle and the disc have to move out of the socket, forward and down the articular eminence, a convex bone surface located anteriorly to the socket . This movement is called translation.
The most common disorder of the TMJ is disc displacement, and in most of the cases, the disc is dislocated anteriorly. As the disc moves forward, the retrodiscal tissue is pulled in between the two bones. This can be very painful as this tissue is fully vascular and innervated, unlike the disc. The movements made by chewing or even talking cause a chronic bruise to the tissue resulting in inflammation and pain.
The forward dislocated disc is an obstacle for the condyle movement when the mouth is opening. In order to fully open the jaw, the condyle has to jump over the back end of the disc and onto its center. This produces a clicking or popping sound. Upon closing, the condyle slides back out of the disc hence another "click" or "pop". This condition is called disc displacement with reduction .
In later stage of disc dislocation, the condyle stays behind the disc all the time, unable to get back onto the disc, the clicking sound disappeared but mouth opening is limited. This is usually the most symptomatic stage - the jaw is said to be "locked" as it is unable to open wide. At this stage the condition is called disc displacement without reduction
Fortunately, in majority of the cases, the condition resolves by itself after some time. This is thanks to a process called natural adaptation of the retrodiscal tissue, which after a while becomes scar tissue and can functionally replace the disc. In fact, it becomes so similar to the disc that it is called a pseudodisc.

PAIN is an industrial metal project created by Peter Tägtgren, a Swedish musician, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. If you want to hear this story from him, it would be short and straight to the point: “PAIN was just me f'n around in the studio, and it grew into becoming a band.”
Started as a one-man project with all the vocals, instruments parts, and production made by one person… Well, it still is, but not only. It also became a prominent touring group that today consists of, apart from Peter, his son Sebastian Tägtgren (drums), Jonathan Olsson (bass), and Sebastian Svalland (guitar).
Nevertheless, a long time ago, in 1997, when the debut album of the project was released, there was nobody but Peter. By this time, he already had four successful albums with Hypocrisy – and also had some ideas that wouldn’t go with the band’s style.
That’s how the story of PAIN began – the story where 8 albums are known and loved for such smashing hits as ‘End Of The Line’, ‘Shut Your Mouth’, ‘Same Old Song’, ‘Follow Me’, ‘Coming Home’ and many more. This story also contains strong lyrics, rich arrangements, solid melodies, unflagging energy, killing live shows, and big plans for the future.

The temporomandibular joint -- the TMJ - is the joint between the lower jawbone - the mandible - and the temporal bone of the skull. The TMJ is responsible for jaw movement and is the most used joint in the body. The TMJ is essentially the articulation between the condyle of the mandible and the mandibular fossa - a socket in the temporal bone. The unique feature of the TMJ is the articular disc - a flexible and elastic cartilage that serves as a cushion between the two bone surfaces. The disc lacks nerve endings and blood vessels in its center and therefore is insensitive to pain. Anteriorly it attaches to lateral pterygoid muscle - a muscle of chewing. Posteriorly it continues as retrodiscal tissue fully supplied with blood vessels and nerves.
The mandible is the only bone that moves when the mouth opens. The first 20 mm opening involves only a rotational movement of the condyle within the socket. For the mouth to open wider, the condyle and the disc have to move out of the socket, forward and down the articular eminence, a convex bone surface located anteriorly to the socket . This movement is called translation.
The most common disorder of the TMJ is disc displacement, and in most of the cases, the disc is dislocated anteriorly. As the disc moves forward, the retrodiscal tissue is pulled in between the two bones. This can be very painful as this tissue is fully vascular and innervated, unlike the disc. The movements made by chewing or even talking cause a chronic bruise to the tissue resulting in inflammation and pain.
The forward dislocated disc is an obstacle for the condyle movement when the mouth is opening. In order to fully open the jaw, the condyle has to jump over the back end of the disc and onto its center. This produces a clicking or popping sound. Upon closing, the condyle slides back out of the disc hence another "click" or "pop". This condition is called disc displacement with reduction .
In later stage of disc dislocation, the condyle stays behind the disc all the time, unable to get back onto the disc, the clicking sound disappeared but mouth opening is limited. This is usually the most symptomatic stage - the jaw is said to be "locked" as it is unable to open wide. At this stage the condition is called disc displacement without reduction
Fortunately, in majority of the cases, the condition resolves by itself after some time. This is thanks to a process called natural adaptation of the retrodiscal tissue, which after a while becomes scar tissue and can functionally replace the disc. In fact, it becomes so similar to the disc that it is called a pseudodisc.

Temporomandibular Joint: Articulating Surfaces, Ligaments, Movements, Neurovascular supply, USMLE
I. Introduction:
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the joint that connects the mandible (lower jaw) to the temporal bone of the skull.
It is a hinge joint and a sliding joint, which means it allows for both rotational and translational movements of the jaw.
The TMJ is important for functions such as chewing, speaking, and swallowing.
II. Structure of the Temporomandibular Joint:
Bones of the temporomandibular joint include the temporal bone, mandible, articular eminence, mandibular fossa, and condyle of the mandible.
Muscles of the temporomandibular joint include the masseter, temporalis, medial pterygoid, and lateral pterygoid muscles.
Ligaments of the temporomandibular joint include the temporomandibular ligament, stylomandibular ligament, and sphenomandibular ligament.
The articular disc is a fibrocartilaginous structure that separates the condyle of the mandible from the mandibular fossa.
The synovial membrane lines the inner surface of the joint capsule and produces synovial fluid to lubricate the joint.
III. Bones of the Temporomandibular Joint:
The temporal bone is a bone of the skull that forms the lateral wall of the skull and contains the mandibular fossa.
The mandible is the lower jaw bone that articulates with the temporal bone.
The articular eminence is a small projection of bone on the temporal bone that helps guide the mandible during movements.
The mandibular fossa is a depression on the temporal bone where the condyle of the mandible articulates.
The condyle of the mandible is the rounded end of the mandible that articulates with the mandibular fossa.
IV. Muscles of the Temporomandibular Joint:
The masseter muscle is a powerful muscle that elevates the mandible during chewing.
The temporalis muscle is a fan-shaped muscle that retracts the mandible and assists in elevating it during chewing.
The medial pterygoid muscle is a muscle that elevates and protracts the mandible during chewing.
The lateral pterygoid muscle is a muscle that depresses and protracts the mandible during opening of the mouth.
V. Ligaments of the Temporomandibular Joint:
The temporomandibular ligament is a thick band of fibrous tissue that connects the zygomatic process of the temporal bone to the neck of the mandible.
The stylomandibular ligament is a thin band of fibrous tissue that extends from the styloid process of the temporal bone to the angle of the mandible.
The sphenomandibular ligament is a thin band of fibrous tissue that extends from the spine of the sphenoid bone to the lingula of the mandible.
VI. Articular Disc of the Temporomandibular Joint:
The articular disc is a fibrocartilaginous structure that separates the condyle of the mandible from the mandibular fossa.
It is attached to the joint capsule and moves with the condyle during movements of the jaw.
The articular disc helps distribute forces evenly across the joint during movements.
VII. Synovial Membrane of the Temporomandibular Joint:
The synovial membrane lines the inner surface of the joint capsule and produces synovial fluid to lubricate the joint.
It also provides nourishment to the articular cartilage and removes waste products from the joint.
The synovial membrane is highly vascular and innervated, allowing it to detect pain and inflammation in the joint.
VIII. Blood and Nerve Supply of the Temporomandibular Joint:
Arteries supplying the temporomandibular joint include the superficial temporal artery, maxillary artery, and anterior tympanic artery.
Veins draining the temporomandibular joint include the superficial temporal vein, maxillary vein, and posterior auricular vein.
Nerves innervating the temporomandibular joint include the auriculotemporal nerve, masseteric nerve, deep temporal nerves, and lateral pterygoid nerve.
IX. Function of the Temporomandibular Joint:
Movements of the temporomandibular joint include opening and closing the mouth, protruding and retracting the mandible, and side-to-side movements of the mandible.
The muscles involved in these movements include the masseter, temporalis, medial pterygoid, and lateral pterygoid muscles.
Normal functioning of the temporomandibular joint allows for pain-free and efficient movements of the jaw.

Taryn was having severe jaw pain due to a close-lock dislocation of her TMJoint.
Unfortunatelty, most dentists do not understand the importance of reducing a close-lock as quickly as possible. When locked the pressure is on the retrodiscal lamina which is prone permanent damage.
Taryn required a unilateral pivotal appliance too maintain the joint reduction..

The TMJ connects the temple bone of the skull to the lower jaw bone. TMD is a condition that can cause pain and dysfunction in the jaw joint, the muscles that control the jaw or both.
Signs and symptoms of TMD include:
•Painful clicking or grating in your jaw
•Painful locking or clenching of your jaw
•Pain while talking, chewing or opening your mouth wide
•Headaches and neck pain
•Pain, ringing or fullness in your ears
Hearn suggests the following things to avoid:
•Opening your mouth forcefully, such as while yawning or yelling
•Crunchy or hard foods
•Taking large bites of food
•Foods that require prolonged chewing
•Chewing gum
You also should take notice of habits, such as biting your nails, chewing your cheeks or lips, resting your jaw on your hand, or clenching and grinding your teeth.
Hearn shares best practices for TMD pain relief and teaches how maintaining your jaw position, correcting your posture, exercising and getting a good night’s sleep can help you relieve TMJ pain.

Exercises (album)
Exercises is the second studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released in 1972. Although their music is most accurately described as "blues-tinged hardrock" (CD liner notes), this record is quite far from the band's more standard fare, featuring, quite surprisingly, a number of acoustic arrangements, several songs with orchestral strings, and traditional Scottish airs. About PAIN:
PAIN is an industrial metal project created by Peter Tägtgren, a Swedish musician, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. If you want to hear this story from him, it would be short and straight to the point: “PAIN was just me f'n around in the studio, and it grew into becoming a band.”
Started as a one-man project with all the vocals, instruments parts, and production made by one person… Well, it still is, but not only. It also became a prominent touring group that today consists of, apart from Peter, his son Sebastian Tägtgren (drums), Jonathan Olsson (bass), and Sebastian Svalland (guitar).
Nevertheless, a long time ago, in 1997, when the debut album of the project was released, there was nobody but Peter. By this time, he already had four successful albums with Hypocrisy – and also had some ideas that wouldn’t go with the band’s style.
That’s how the story of PAIN began – the story where 8 albums are known and loved for such smashing hits as ‘End Of The Line’, ‘Shut Your Mouth’, ‘Same Old Song’, ‘Follow Me’, ‘Coming Home’ and many more. This story also contains strong lyrics, rich arrangements, solid melodies, unflagging energy, killing live shows, and big plans for the future.
