Meridian (plural: "meridians") is used in perimetry and in specifying visual fields. According to IPS Perimetry Standards 1978 (2002): "Perimetry is the measurement of [an observer's] visual functions ... at topographically defined loci in the visual field. The visual field is that portion of the external environment of the observer [in which when he or she is] steadily fixating ...[he or she] can detect visual stimuli."
In perimetry, the observer's eye is considered to be at the centre of an imaginary sphere. More precisely, the centre of the sphere is in the centre of the pupil of the observer's eye. The observer is looking at a point, the fixation point, on the interior of the sphere. The visual field can be considered to be all parts of the sphere for which the observer can see a particular test stimulus. If we consider this surface to be that on which an observer can see anything, then it is a section of the sphere somewhat larger than a hemisphere. In reality it is smaller than this, and irregular, because when the observer is looking straight ahead, his or her nose blocks vision of some possible parts of the surface. In perimetric testing, a section of the imaginary sphere is realized as a hemisphere in the centre of which is a fixation point. Test stimuli can be displayed on the hemisphere.
A 2001 review found little evidence to support the existence or function of qi or acupuncture meridians. However, more recent studies confirm that the meridians and acupoints have many biophysical properties such as electric, thermal, acoustic, optical, magnetic, isotopic, and myoelectric characteristics, which are different from those of non-acupuncture points.
Main concepts
The meridian network is typically divided into 2 categories, the jingmai (經脈) or meridian channels and the luomai (絡脈) or associated vessels (sometimes called "collaterals"). The jingmai contain the 12 tendinomuscular meridians, the 12 divergent meridians, the 12 principal meridians, the 8 extraordinary vessels as well as the Huato channel, a set of bilateral points on the lower back whose discovery is attributed to the famous physician in ancient China. The collaterals contain 15 major arteries that connect the 12 principal meridians in various ways, in addition to the interaction with their associated internal organs and other related internal structures. The collateral system also incorporates a branching expanse of capillary like vessels which spread throughout the body, namely in the 12 cutaneous regions as well as emanating from each point on the principal meridians. If one counts the number of unique points on each meridian, the total comes to 361, although 365 is usually used since it coincides with the number of days in a year. Note that this method ignores the fact that the bulk of acupoints are bilateral, making the actual total 670.
Critical reception of Blood was generally positive. The more atmospheric and ambient tracks were praised; the more metal-oriented tracks received mixed reactions. Moore's lyrics and Harrison's drumming, in particular, were met with acclaim.
A Bordeaux wine is any wine produced in the Bordeaux region of France, centred on the city of Bordeaux and covering the whole area of the Girondedepartment, with a total vineyard area of over 120,000 hectares, making it the largest wine growing area in France. Average vintages produce over 700 million bottles of Bordeaux wine, ranging from large quantities of everyday table wine, to some of the most expensive and prestigious wines in the world. Eighty-nine percent of wine produced in Bordeaux is red (called "claret" in Britain), with sweet white wines (most notably Sauternes), dry whites, and (in much smaller quantities) rosé and sparkling wines (Crémant de Bordeaux) collectively making up the remainder. Bordeaux wine is made by more than 8,500 producers or châteaux. There are 54 appellations of Bordeaux wine.
History
The vine was introduced to the Bordeaux region by the Romans, probably in the mid-1st century, to provide wine for local consumption, and wine production has been continuous in the region since then.
Blood is a 2012 thriller that follows two brothers who are policemen and charts the moral collapse of a police family. The two brothers, played by Paul Bettany (Joe Fairburn) and Stephen Graham (Christie Fairburn) must investigate a despicable crime in a small town, in the shadow of their former police chief father. It was directed by Nick Murphy and written by Bill Gallagher.
The film is a cinematic remake of the 2004 BBC television mini series Conviction, which Gallagher also wrote.
Plot
Although they try to realise their job, Joe and Chrissie commit the ultimate crime, and the fear of being caught out by their police force colleague, Robert (Mark Strong), turns their lives into a downward spiral of guilt and paranoia.

We speak with Dr. Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco [MD (Spain), Sports Medicine Specialist (Spain), Director of McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program] about the science behind both traditional and neurofunctional acupuncture. Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners discovered favourable access points to the nervous system that they labelled as meridians. Anatomy and physiology explains how these meridians follow peripheral nerve and arterial pathways as well as myofascial pain patterns.

NOTE FROM TED: Please do not look to this talk for medical advice. This talk only represents the speaker's personal views and understanding of medicine and lacks legitimate scientific support. We've flagged this talk because it falls outside the content guidelines TED gives TEDx organizers. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. Charmian is the Head of Chinese Medicine Department and a Senior Lecturer in the School of Health and Bioscience at The University of East London. In her talk she talks about her 20 years' experience in learning about and practising acupuncture in the UK and Nanjing, China. What is it about those little needles that make them alleviate pain, treat illnesses and even help women to get pregnant?
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBratislava, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBratislava event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Hiatt I get jumpy, wanna step on the gas Drive right out of this place fast She says: 'Red light, I'll take those keys' Out of my mind and on my knees. Something happens and I don't know why I can't seem to get my future out of my eyes Something happens and never for sure If I could name this sickness, I'd be cured, I'd be cured. She's long distance and it's a grind Always static on that line Tear the phone out from the wall But in my head I get that call. Something happens and I don't know why I can't seem to get my future out of my eyes Something happens and never for sure If I could name this sickness, I'd be cured, I'd be cured. She don't wanna talk, she don't wanna talk to me She just wanna look, she just wanna look through me. It's a famine or it's a feast Who's that beauty? Who's that beast? Threatening murder or happiness And if I do it, will I confess? Something happens and I don't know why I can't seem to get my future out of my eyes Something happens and never for sure
