Originally Cawsand was in the parish of Rame, but now has its own church in the village. The neighbouring church at Maker is in the same parish as Rame. Together they are called 'Maker-with-Rame' parish. Rame was recorded in the Domesday Book (1086) when it was held by Ermenhald from Tavistock Abbey. There were 27 households, land for 6 ploughs, 10 acres of pasture and 30 acres of underwood. An electoral ward bearing the name of Rame exists. The population at the 2011 census was 4,763.
There is another Rame near Falmouth in west Cornwall. It is believed that the west Cornwall Rame was named after the one on the Rame Peninsula.
Rame (Cornish:Hordh) is a small hamlet approximately three miles west of Penryn and five miles northeast of Helston in Cornwall. It is located on the A394 main road.
Rame Church Candlelit-Carol service 2001: MAKER WITH RAME, CORNWALL
Rame Church is an unspoilt 11th century church in the parish of Maker with Rame. There is no electric, all lighting by candles, the organ is pumped by a hand bellows. The atmosphere at all times of day and year is wonderful. It is one of my favourite places. The service is usually held the last Sunday before Christmas. The woman at the start, Karen, was later to become my wife.

Summer 1999 the Parish picnic of Maker with Rame
Summer 1999 the Parish picnic of Maker with Rame. This was a very atmospheric and moving event as the service was held in the windswept chapel on the top of Rame Head, St Michael’s Chapel. Nearly a quarter of a century has passed since this event, and I know for sure several of the people here are no longer with us, especially Lucy Turpitt, who I had the pleasure of working with for many years recently, I’ve posted some still photographs of this event.

Rame Conservation Trust - Redoubt number 5
The Rame Conservation Trust work hard to look after the heritage that exists in and around Maker Heights and the Rame Peninsula, South East Cornwall.
This film introduces the work of the Trust, and shows some repair work undertaken at the one of the scheduled monuments, which is the fort Redoubt Number 5. The work has secured and stabilised the fort which is designated as a monument at risk.
This is part of a Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty wide project, with thanks to National Lottery Heritage Fund investment.

Rame church
This video is of the inside of the most South-East church in Cornwall which is St Germanus's church at Rame, on the Rame peninsular, Cornwall, UK. The church is a nice church but is famous for having no electric. The light is lit by candles and the organ is pumped by hand. There is a Harmonium in the church but, very sadly, this is going to play its last song very soon before being destroyed however the outside part will be on display in the church to show how the instrument looked. The church is famous for its candlelit carol services which happen once a year at Christmas. This is how all churches use to have theirs before electricity was invented but, I have been told, it can get quite cold in there!
The church is in the parish of Maker-with-Rame.

This third video commissioned jointly by Celtic Construction and John Grimes Partnership describes the necessary works to both strengthen and heighten the sea wall. The existing wall is a tenuous defence. It not only protects the Institute and Clock Tower Building but also the village of Kingsand.
