An evolution of the older Concurrent CP/M-86 and Concurrent DOS operating systems, it was originally developed by Digital Research and later acquired and further developed by Novell. Its ancestry lies in the earlier Digital Research 8-bit operating systems CP/M and MP/M, and the 16-bit single-tasking CP/M-86 which evolved from CP/M.
The initial version of CP/M for the IBM PC, CP/M-86, was commercially unsuccessful, as Microsoft's MS-DOS offered much the same facilities for a considerably lower price. Like MS-DOS 1.0, CP/M-86 did not fully exploit the power and capabilities of the new 16-bit machine.

More Multitasking MS-DOS: Can Mac & Amiga Run Two Copies in Parallel? #DOScember
In this journal entry for #DOScember2022, let's see if either the Macintosh or Amiga can run its MS-DOS emulator concurrently. I'll be trying Insignia Solutions SoftPC on my PowerBook 180, and both PC-Task and Transformer on my Amiga 600. Both machines came out in the same year (1992) so it will be a fair comparison. I'm confident the Mac will come through but not so sure the Amiga will.

In this #doscember video we go over the Ultimate MS-Dos 7.1 distribution that allows you to very easily install MS-Dos 7.1 on your Retro PC. It includes all the essential tools that you will need for retro gaming, and serves as an alternative to tools like the MS-Dos Starter Pack from philscomputerlab.
You can find a copy of this floppy at : https://archive.org/details/ultimate-msdos-7.1
If you wish to write this to a real floppy you can use the udbd.exe file, which is compatible with Windows 98 (and modern Windows).

This video is part of #doscember2022 where creators get together to share interesting DOS themed videos, inspiring others to enjoy this old but lovely operating system.
