Proprietary file format
Now you can use the Eyeshot proprietary file format to persist your scene.
It includes the options to save geometry only, tessellation only or both (to leverage file size vs. loading speed), it supports entity types extension and file compression.
This file format will always be able to read old version files and will save current version only.

❌ Proprietary backup formats
Most good backup tools us proprietary data formats to most efficiently backup while simultaneously providing the features of the tool. That’s fine for backing up where the need to access decreases rapidly over time. For longer term archival, using different, simpler tools is a hedge against proprietary formats going away.

QuantumScape’s solid-state lithium-metal battery technology is designed to enable greater energy density, faster charging and enhanced safety compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. However, lithium metal has some unique characteristics that we believe require innovations in cell architecture to address the uniaxial expansion of lithium metal as it plates and strips during charging and discharging. In response, QuantumScape developed a new cell format – FlexFrame – a hybrid of conventional pouch and prismatic cell designs intended to enable a technological step-change improvement through elegant simplicity of design.
In this video, Associate Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan, Venkat Viswanathan, QuantumScape’s Principal Product Lead, Chris Dekmezian, and Senior Director of Cell Design & Manufacturing, Daniel Braithwaite, discuss the innovation behind FlexFrame.

Files & File Systems: Crash Course Computer Science #20
Today we’re going to look at how our computers read and interpret computer files. We’ll talk about how some popular file formats like txt, wave, and bitmap are encoded and decoded giving us pretty pictures and lifelike recordings from just strings of 1’s and 0’s, and we’ll discuss how our computers are able to keep all this data organized and readily accessible to users. You’ll notice in this episode that we’re starting to talk more about computer users, not programmers, foreshadowing where the series will be going in a few episodes.
