Malaysia has another island called "Pulau Pinang", which is a diving site located in South China Sea and part of the Johor Marine Park, which consists of a group of islands: Pulau Aur, Pulau Dayang, Pulau Lang, and Pulau Pinang itself.
History
Penang was originally part of the Malay Sultanate of Kedah. On 11 August 1786, Captain Francis Light of the British East India Company landed in Penang and renamed it Prince of Wales Island in honour of heir to the British throne. Light then received it as a portion on his marriage to the daughter of the Sultan of Kedah. Light ceded Penang to the Government of India and promised the Sultan military protection from Siamese and Burmese armies who were threatening Kedah. Light is now credited as the founder of Penang.
The island is 135 miles (217km) long, 45 miles (72km) wide and has an area of 2,577sqmi (6,674km2), about 1/10 the size of Ireland and slightly larger than the state of Delaware. Approximately 6,000 people live on the island. Craig is the largest community; founded as a saltery in the early 20th century, it has a population of 1,000. Some 750 people live in Klawock, a long-established village that grew with the fishing industry. Hollis was a boom and bust mining town from 1900 to about 1915; abandoned, it was re-established as a logging camp in the '50s, and now has a population of 100. Hollis is where the ferry terminal is located,

Being inhabited only by a few Kaurareg families (population 20 in 2001), it is very sparsely populated. The village in the north is called Muralug, after the native name of the island. The northeastern corner of the island, Kiwain Point, is only 830m (908yd) away from Vivien Point of Thursday Island, the main and most populous of the Torres Strait Islands, separated by Normanby Sound.

Exploring Prince of Wales Island: Labouchere Bay to Craig, Alaska
We start this journey on Prince of Wales Island, Alaska in Labouchere Bay and drive to Craig. Lab Bay got its start in the 1970s as a logging village. As resources depleted and companies moved to other areas to work, Lab Bay like many logging towns were dismantled and have now long since been grown over. Enjoy!

EXPLORED PENANG ISLAND, MALAYSIA
Penang is a Malaysian island off the Malay Peninsula in the Strait of Malacca. In George Town, the capital of Penang state, foreign influences are evident in landmarks like colonial Fort Cornwallis, Chinese clan temple Khoo Kongsi and Indian-style Kapitan Keling Mosque. Other notable religious sites include the Chinese Goddess of Mercy Temple, the Buddhist Kek Lok Si Temple and Hindu Sri Mahamariamman Temple.
The heritage tour of Georgetown (Unesco World heritage site) is a must to truly understand the different cultures and religions that live in the town and on the island.

We arrived at the beach and were instantly transported out of the chaos of George Town Penang into a seaside paradise. We had a relaxing stroll along Batu Ferringhi beach but decided to skip swimming due to the jellyfish in Penang that are known to sting. No thank you!
Visiting Batu Ferringhi Beach & Night Market is one of the best things to do in Penang while on vacation. Exploring Penang Island is much more than just George Town, so make sure you allow yourself some time to see the northern tip of Penang Island which is home to Batu Ferringhi, the Tropical Spice Gardens and more.
After flying the drone along Batu Ferringhi beach, we were lucky enough to find a local pier to watch an incredible sunset. We were happy to be the only two tourists in sight while we sat on the pier and watched the red, golden sun set below the horizon.
After the sun sets the Batu Ferringhi night market starts to become alive. Lining 1km of road along Jalan Batu Ferringhi, this is known to be the best night market Penang has to offer! The addition of this night market to Batu Ferringhi makes it not just your ordinary Malaysia beach. There is plenty to see day or night. As one of the most affordable beaches in Southeast Asia, Batu Ferringhi’s night market has a great deal of shopping and local Malaysian food to try. We found ourselves in a Turkish restaurant called Rubin Mardini on Jalan Batu Ferringhi and had an excellent meal. Highly recommend!
We hope you enjoyed the video and got some tips on the best places in Penang! Of course Batu Ferringhi isn’t one of the best beaches in Asia, but it’s a lovely beach filled with life nestled 20 minutes north of Malaysia’s UNESCO World Heritage sight of George Town Penang. If you’re exploring Penang Island, don’t forget to stop at Batu Ferringhi for a day and enjoy the sand, sun, and food. Hope you enjoy this Penang Vlog!

Our friend Rob Endsley is a husband, father, charter captain, radio host, and iconic Northwest outdoorsman. The first installment of Lindell Stories follows Rob through places known and unknown around Southeast Alaska's Prince of Wales Island on a 41-foot Lindell Yacht as he and his buddies search for Chinook salmon, halibut, lingcod, rockfish, shrimp, and the exalted wild steelhead. His and his family's sense of adventure embodies our "Fish Hard, Rest Easy" ethos. We hope this story inspires you to go on a voyage of your own.
Enjoy!

A Utah doctor steps off his Alaska Airlines jet and takes a short walk to his Beaver on floats and is whisked away to Prince of Wales Island. Prince of Wales Island, a short distance from Ketchikan, Salmon Capital of the World, is home to Prince of Wales Lodge. Upon arrival, the good doctor is met by lodge owner, Will Jones—and Edgar Allen Crow.

Prince George, Celebration his 11th birthday on Monday been 22 July 2024, on Private Island
As the Prince and Princess of Wales's son, Prince George, approaches his 11th birthday on Monday, July 22nd, it is evident that the young royal has been no stranger to celebrating his special day in the most lavish and extravagant manner befitting his royal status. Over the years, Prince William and Kate have spared no expense in ensuring that their eldest child's birthdays are nothing short of opulent, grand affairs.
Last spring, Steve decided to pass up an opportunity to kill a black bear in favor of an extended up close and personal experience. This time, Steve heads back to his shack on Prince of Wales Island and he’s brought his friend Paul Neess from Vortex Optics along to share the experience of using a canoe to slip in close to these giant black bears.
