Prehistory (The Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages) BEGINNINGS Ep. 1
Prehistory, also known as pre-literary history, is the period of human history between the use of the first stone tools by hominins c. 3.3 million years ago and the invention of writing systems. The use of symbols, marks, and images appears very early among humans, but the earliest known writing systems appeared c. 5000 years ago and it took thousands of years for writing systems to be widely adopted. In some human cultures, writing systems were not used until the nineteenth century and, in a few, are not even used until the present. The end of prehistory therefore came at very different dates in different places, and the term is less often used in discussing societies where prehistory ended relatively recently.

Millions of years ago, humans were near the bottom of the food chain. Predators, weather, and diseases all posed the threat of wiping our species out. But then, thanks to evolution, humans went from huddling in dark caves to building full-blown cities. How did that happen?

Prehistoric Hunebed Megaliths #megalithic #prehistory #shorts
The prehistoric Hunebed site is primarily found in the Netherlands and consists of several megalithic tombs dating back to the Neolithic period.
These burial mounds, known as hunebeds, were constructed using large boulders and are believed to have been built around 3500 BC by the Funnelbeaker culture.
Hunebeds served as communal burial sites, where multiple individuals were interred, reflecting the social and cultural practices of prehistoric communities.
The hunebeds feature a distinctive structure with large capstones supported by upright stones, showcasing advanced engineering techniques for their time.
The site is a vital part of European prehistoric heritage, offering insights into the ritual practices and societal organization of early agrarian societies.

Hello friends! Welcome to a new Happy Learning video.
Today, we’re going to learn about our Prehistory.
The first thing we need to know, is that our Prehistory is divided in three different periods… Paleolithic, neolithic and the metal ages.
The Paleolithic begins with the appearance of the first human beings and ends 8000 years before Christ.
During the Paleolithic period, people were nomads meaning they didn't live in one place, no,they were constantly on the move in search of animals to hunt. As they were hunters and gatherers, they needed to follow the animals in order to capture them and at the same time
they collected wild fruits found on the way.
They lived in tribes, in small groups formed by families, and they found refuge in caves where they would paint on the wall. These paintings were done with a mixture of charcoal, earth, animal fat and water. Look here are a few examples…truth is, its absolutely fascinating to think that these first paintings, these first artistic representations, were drawn thousands of years ago. Don’t you think?
Both Paleolithic men and women wore animal skins which they had hunted previously and they used tools such as an ax and spears made out of stones, wood and bones which they themselves carved.
With the passing of time, or rather centuries, these first human beings became more and more intelligent and they began to domesticate animals such as dogs, goats, sheep and pigs; they also began to cultivate plants which was then eaten. It is in these times, with the arrival of agriculture and farming, when everything changed, when man stopped being a nomad and becomes sedentary and the fist villages are made… This is when the Paleolithic period ends and the Neolithic begins.
The Neolithic started 8 million years before Christ, and it was then when we discovered agriculture and farming and it finishes 5.000 years before Christ with the beginning of the Metal Ages. Both men and woman in the Neolithic period were able to produce food by cultivating the land and domesticating animals. One can say they were the first farmers and agriculturalist of our history, better yet, prehistory. As they had to look after their crops and animals, they constructed small villages and began to settle in them permanently, meaning they transformed into sedentary, not like the Paleolithic who were nomads because they were constantly traveling. The first Neolithic settlements were situated in very futile lands, near rivers so that they could access water easily both needed for their crops as well as allowing their animals to drink. You know how important water is in our life! The first plants that were cultivated were cereals, such as wheat, or pulses like chickpeas…But do you know which were the first animals to be domesticated?...Well it was dogs, goats, sheep and pigs. During the Neolithic era many interesting things were invented such as ceramic and fabric but the most important invention was, without a doubt the wheel… Everything became so easy for men and women in the paleolithic. Especially, when they started using metals! This is the point where the Neolithic ended, and a new era in prehistory commenced: the metal ages! Which commenced approximately 6.500 years before Christ and finishes when the first written language was born.
During the Metal Ages, people began questioning the mysteries of life as well as death and the first religious representations arose. Constructions called megaliths were created with large blocks of Stone. Mega meaning large and liths Stone. The simplest megalith was the menhir, a large Stone riveted vertically into the ground. Dolmens were also constructed such as the ones seen in these images. The Metal Ages ended with the first written language, about 4000 years ago. And as the Metal Ages ended, Prehistory comes to an end, but then… History commences! Did you find learning about Prehistory interesting? Paleolithic, Neolithic and the Metal Ages? We definitely did! Because by getting to know our past, we understand our present, and make our future better.

PREHISTORY song by Mr. Nicky
To the tunes of “Dynamite” by BTS &
“Astronaut in the Ocean” by Masked Wolf
Backing tracks property of Karaoke Version/Tency Music
Lucy:
Because my stride was bipedal and upright
we can relate as hominids, both you and I
Handy Man:
Clues show over a million years ago, we were making tools of stone
And so the Paleolithic "Old Stone” age arose
Upright Man:
We strolled out of our old home
It got cold but with fire control
us nomads can roam with portable heat
and tigers leave us alone, hey!
Neanderthal:
Skill and teamwork mattered
Couldn't farm so we'd just hunt and gather food
Leaving foot and handprints that archaeologists examine
Cro-Magnon
Painting caves, and though we couldn't write
that's prehistoric fine art, with science you'll know
Lucy:
Straight from my bones!
All:
That my stride was bipedal and upright
We can relate as hominids, both you and I
Climates, rivers, landscapes all have geographical effects
on life and Ötzi dying in ice (whoa!)
From his gear, you'll see how far that tool making came along
Some settled down and farmed, and the New Stone Age was on!
It's a food revolution, going agricultural in fertile places
by domesticating wild plants and the right animals
Years of careful breeding get your herds and crops the way you need them
Irrigate your lands and grow that surplus food for stashing
so populations rise and artisans can specialize to build your civilization
Neanderthal:
Nah, let's just hunt!
All:
'Cause my stride's bipedal and upright
We can relate as hominids, both you and I
Climates, rivers, landscapes all have geographical effects
on life and Ötzi dying in ice (whoa!)
Signs show the guy had climbed and dined
violently died and was mummified in ice
Trying to survive requires refined items
Acquire them from towns with shiny knives
Trade with them for new goods and take their bright ideas home
Gilgamesh: and you just might end up being civilized!
Once you know a scribe wrote it down with a reed into clay
That source is beyond prehistory
Is your storytelling oral tradition still spoken?
Yeah, mine is in writing as your skull is decomposing, ay
Once you know a scribe wrote it down with a reed into clay
That source is beyond prehistory
Is your storytelling oral tradition still spoken?
Yeah, mine is in writing and you're just stiff and frozen
She says that you're cool
I'm like, "Yeah, that's true"
You thought your axe was h.o.t.
Copper weapons are n.o.t.
They've been improved upon
Step into the Age of Bronze
We're finding ways to strengthen metal
Adding tin to the copper you smelt will make your casts built to last
Not like tools from your Stone Age past
These are durable for farming tasks, though it's a low ranking social class
It isn't much higher than the slaves, let rich nobles administrate
with a high class of priests who pray to the gods running our city-state
Praise them, I'm the "Big Man", I lead our government
Overseeing the people dig planned canals with clear direction
Bringing order, central rule and protection
Raising armies you won't mess with or you'll rest in Fertile Crescent soil
Launching civilization in Mesopotamia because the location
between the Euphrates and Tigris makes it the greatest place
you can find to harvest grain in Southwest Asia
So with the surplus crops that we raise
You don't have to farm, get a job, do your lyre playing
Load up a cart, roll it to far markets now that wheels go on axle rods
With these new devices, who's surprised at Sumer's rise?
If your water and food supply is quite reliable like mine
Your small settlement might try building a city we'd fight
I'd quickly smite you like this lion
Once you know a scribe wrote it down with a reed into clay
That source is beyond prehistory
Is your storytelling oral tradition still spoken?
Yeah, mine is in writing while your grandkids are dozing, ay
Once you know a scribe wrote it down with a reed into clay
That source is beyond prehistory
Is your storytelling oral tradition still spoken?
Yeah, mine is in writing and you're just stiff and frozen
Lucy: Well, that was rude!
Upright Man: Who gave him the link?
Handy Man: Probably Otzi, notice he’s late again.
Cro-Magnon: It’s not Otzi, it’s “Oet-zi.”
Handy, Upright, Neand.: No!
Lucy: It’s “Oot-zi” like “Footsie.”
Handy, Upright, Neand.: Haha!
Handy Man: It’s “Oat-zi '' like “Floatsy!”
Neanderthal: It’s “Eet-zi” like “feetsy!” Haha!
Otzi: Whoaa!

Hunebeds are protected as cultural monuments and are popular tourist attractions, contributing to the understanding of prehistoric life.

Pawn Stars Chumlee Sentenced To Life In Prison After This
Pawn Stars is a very interesting show when you think about it. Because it’s honestly a show about grown men, running a pawn shop, trying to do all they can to get both interesting items, and items that can make them a lot of money. Plus, since it’s a family (plus Chumlee), it adds an extra dynamic that has kept it on for over 11 years. But if you look at the true history of the shop, you’ll find yourself looking at some bad beats and bad breaks that don’t paint the Pawn Stars in the best light. Allow us to show you then. Do you remember the Discovery Channel? The Discovery Channel used to be the go-to network for science, entertainment, and learning, but over the past 20 years, the Discovery channel has fallen towards irrelevance. In fact, Google search volume for “the Discovery channel” is down 90 to 95% since 2000. It’s easy to write off this downtrend as a result of the rise of streaming services and alternative forms of media like YouTube and TikTok. But, the Discovery channel’s fall is much more intricate than just a broad TV downturn. It all started in the year 2000 when the Discovery channel moved away from purely nonfictional content and incorporated elements of reality TV. Since then, the Discovery channel has expanded to producing full-on reality shows which pushed away their initial fanbase. Today, Discovery is trying to make a comeback with Discovery+ and they may very well be successful, especially thanks to their partnership with Warner Bros. But, even if Discovery channel reached its historic peak once again, it definitely won’t be the Discovery channel that we all knew and loved 10 years ago. This video explains the rise and fall of the Discovery channel and what happened to the Discovery channel.

A very popular topic that began when Home Run Pictures was tasked with the creation of animation and visual effects for a multi-part documentary series airing across several years on the Discovery Channel. Working with production company, Stardust Visual, and a team of scientists from the 1996 and 1998 TDC expeditions to the wreck, Home Run Pictures created realistic scenes of the famed ocean liner striking an iceberg and eventually sinking to the ocean bottom. In all, there were six programs on the Titanic for Discovery.Based on new found evidence at the two and a half mile deep Titanic wreck site, various simulations for the first documentaries were generated by our animators. Scenes show the ship sinking bow first and then breaking apart as it sank to its present resting place. Since a clear understanding of the "breakup" theory was being redefined, the underwater simulations were the first time these scenes had ever been visualized. Simulations of submersibles exploring the wreck site were also created.
One show pulled in the highest viewer ratings ever for The Discovery Channel and has been a popular rerun for years. Clips from the animation sequences were also screened at the 1997 Siggraph Show. The fourth program followed the 1998 expedition to the site. The team of scientists involved hoped to determine further details of the sinking... why did the steel plated ship's scrape with the iceberg deal such a strong blow... why did she split in two... how high did the stern section really rise during the sinking... and why is the stern section so much more destroyed than the bow?
Home Run Pictures was once again called upon to create animated scenes depicting the details of the sinking as determined by the expanded team of scientist-experts. Working again with documentary production company, Stardust Visual, scenes were created concurrently with the off-lining of the program with revisions being made as the scientific team's theories developed during the six month time frame from expedition to finished documentary show. In all, three of the shows for The Discovery Channel earned viewer ratings in Discovery's top ten list. Two of the shows held the number's one and two ratings positions as the most watched programs on the network at that time.
Then later, the re-visioned Titanic imagery from the documentaries made it's way to the fulldome world as an immersive program for planetariums and then recently as an immersive VR game playable in small portable inflatable domes or headsets. Here the player gets to explore the wreck of the Titanic miles below on the ocean floor using an ROV [Remotely Operated Vehicle] just like actual explorers would. The 360 degree view gives the educational game player an experience that only a few explorers have had on a North Atlantic expedition to the sinking site... to explore the deck of the ship, go inside the hull and possibly find the wireless room, the first-class dining room, the bottom deck boilers and other areas.
Considering the never-ending popularity of the Titanic story, we expect to be creating many more visual experiences about the famous ship's sinking in the future.
