What are Honours, Awards and medals Pt 1
In this Part 1 of What are Honours and Awards we will be looking at the history behind Orders of Chivalry and Decorations through the Imperial system into the current Australian system. Part 2 will be up soon and will cover war/campaign medals, service medals and foreign medals awarded to Australians.
Now, but for I get people telling me that I forgot an order or medal. Yes I know and it was very hard to draw a line, but with 176 awards making it in, the two parts are going to run for almost an hour, where I had initially only planed for around 20 mins for the whole thing.

Dictators throughout history have awarded themselves copious amounts of awards, decorations, and honors, which are intended to instill a sense of grandeur and awe in their subjects. This, however, often backfires, and the absurd amount of metal and ribbons pinned to their chest becomes the subject of ridicule, though rarely to their face.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
