Metro is a glossy monthly lifestyle magazine published in New Zealand. It has a strong focus on the city of Auckland, with reportage of issues and society. The magazine was first published independently by Warwick Roger and Bruce Palmer.
History
Metro was established in 1981. The debut of the magazine coincided with the rapid expansion of the New Zealand economy that occurred from 1984, following the election of the Fourth Labour Government, who implemented widespread neoliberal deregulation and economic reform. The increased access to imported luxury goods made Metro magazine an attractive media environment for advertisers.
Metro magazine's success led to the launch of a sister title North & South, edited by Robyn Langwell. This publication took a wider look at New Zealand regional stories. Langwell was editor of North & South until June 2007. A third title, women's interest magazine More, was launched before the stable was bought by ACP Media, an Australian publishing consortium.
Metro International is a Swedish media company based in Luxembourg that publishes the Metro newspapers. Metro International's advertising sales have grown at a compound annual growth rate of 41 percent since launch of the first newspaper edition in 1995. It is a freesheet, meaning that distribution is free, with revenues thus generated entirely through advertising. This newspaper is primarily intended for commuters who move daily in and out of big cities' business areas, mainly during rush hours.
The company was founded by Per Andersson and started as a subsidiary of the Modern Times Group along with Viasat Broadcasting. It is now controlled through investment companyKinnevik. The first edition of the newspaper was published as Metro Stockholm and distributed in the Stockholm metro. As of 2012, all European editions (except for the Hungarian one) have been sold, reportedly so that Metro International can focus on Latin America, considered the last growth market for free newspapers.
The station is available to 150,000 households in the Baton Rouge area. The channel provides information to the public about city services and activities including weekly council meetings and school board meetings and classes for credit from Louisiana State University. In addition, a city directory and airport flight times from the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport play intermittently on the station.
The history of wikis is generally dated from 1994, when Ward Cunningham gave the name "WikiWikiWeb" to the knowledge base, which ran on his company's website at c2.com, and the wiki software that powered it. c2.com thus became the first true wiki, or a website with pages and links that can be easily edited via the browser, with a reliable version history for each page. He chose "WikiWikiWeb" as the name based on his memories of the "Wiki Wiki Shuttle" at Honolulu International Airport, and because "Wiki" is the Hawaiian word for "Quick".
Wiki software has some conceptual origins in the version control and hypertext systems used for documentation and software in the 1980s, and some actualized origins in the 1970s "Journal" feature of NLS.
Its distant ancestors include Vannevar Bush's proposed "memex" system in 1945, the collaborative hypertext database ZOG in 1972, the NoteCards system from Xerox, the Apple hypertext system HyperCard. As was typical of these earlier systems, Cunningham's motive was technical: to facilitate communication between software developers.
274301 Wikipedia (provisional designations: 2008 QH24, 2007 FK34, 1997 RO4) is an asteroid orbiting in the asteroid belt. It was discovered by the Andrushivka Astronomical Observatory in August 2008. The asteroid was named after the online encyclopedia Wikipedia in January 2013.
Discovery
The asteroid was discovered by astronomers from the Andrushivka Astronomical Observatory (A50) in Ukraine, the country's only privately owned observatory, which has discovered over 90asteroids since 2003. It was first observed by the Andrushivka team on August 25, 2008, at 22:47 (UTC). It was also observed on the next night and it received provisional designation 2008 QH24. After it was also observed on September 6 by the Andrushivka team, the orbit of the asteroid was calculated accurately. It was shown that the asteroid 2008 QH24 was the same as 1997 RO4 and 2007 FK34 previously spotted by observatories Caussols-ODAS (France), Mt. Lemmon Survey and Steward Observatory (both in Arizona, U.S.). On April 18, 2011, the asteroid received the number 274301. The composition of the asteroid is not known but it is likely to consist, like other asteroids from the asteroid belt, of a mixture of rock and metal.

In architecture and building engineering, a floor plan is a drawing to scale, showing a view from above, of the relationships between rooms, spaces and other physical features at one level of a structure.
Dimensions are usually drawn between the walls to specify room sizes and wall lengths. Floor plans may also include details of fixtures like sinks, water heaters, furnaces, etc. Floor plans may include notes for construction to specify finishes, construction methods, or symbols for electrical items.
It is also called a plan which is a measured plane typically projected at the floor height of 4ft (1.2m), as opposed to an elevation which is a measured plane projected from the side of a building, along its height, or a section or cross section where a building, is cut along an axis to reveal the interior structure.
Overview
Similar to a map the orientation of the view is downward from above, but unlike a conventional map, a plan is drawn at a particular vertical position (commonly at about 4 feet above the floor). Objects below this level are seen, objects at this level are shown 'cut' in plan-section, and objects above this vertical position within the structure are omitted or shown dashed. Plan view or planform is defined as a vertical orthographic projection of an object on a horizontal plane, like a map.
PNR SOUTH COMMUTER RAILWAY UPDATE 2023
The Philippine National Railways (PNR) will stop operations for about 5 years to give way to the completion of the North South Commuter Railway (NSCR), a Transport official told lawmakers on Thursday.
Transportation Undersecretary for Rail Cesar Chavez explained this is so that they can solve the right-of-way problems that plague the NSCR construction
PNR's operations are delaying the construction and that the government can generate savings by stopping PNR's operations so they can build on the existing alignment.
PNR will suspend its rail services between Alabang, Muntinlupa City and Calamba, Laguna in October to make way for civil works of the NSCR.
Prior to that, the PNR will also shut its daily services between Governor Pascual, Malabon City ...

Prior to that, the PNR will also shut its daily services between Governor Pascual, Malabon City and Calamba, as well as between Alabang and Calamba, in May.The suspension of PNR operations for these lines would expedite the construction of the NSCR by eight months.
The government expects to generate P15.18 billion in savings since land acquisition and relocation of utilities will be done faster.
The closing of PNR services would allow NSCR contractors to lay down the tracks and put up posts for the new railway
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) awarded contract packages (CPs) S-04, S-05, S-06 and S-07 of the NSCR traversing Tutuban to Calamba last year and will issue the remaining CPs by March.
The DOTr admitted that at least 30,000 passengers would be affected by the suspension of PNR services.
The DOTr and PNR will make formal announcements two months before the official closing of train operations The project is expected to be completed in 2028, the P873.62-billion NSCR seeks to build a rail line connecting Malolos, Bulacan with Clark International Airport and Tutuban with Calamba.

SUMMARY
=======
Operation Downfall was the proposed Allied plan for the invasion of Japan near the end of World War II. The planned operation was cancelled when Japan surrendered following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Soviet declaration of war, and the Soviet invasion of Manchuria. The operation had two parts: Operation Olympic and Operation Coronet. Set to begin in November 1945, Operation Olympic was intended to capture the southern third of the southernmost main Japanese island, Kyūshū, with the recently captured island of Okinawa to be used as a staging area. Later, in the spring of 1946, Operation Coronet was the planned invasion of the Kantō Plain, near Tokyo, on the Japanese island of Honshu. Airbases on Kyūshū captured in Operation Olympic would allow land-based air support for Operation Coronet. If Downfall had taken place, it would have been the largest amphibious operation in history.Japan's geography made this invasion plan quite obvious to the Japanese as well; they were able to accurately predict the Allied invasion plans and thus adjust their defensive plan, Operation Ketsugō, accordingly. The Japanese planned an all-out defense of Kyūshū, with little left in reserve for any subsequent defense operations. Casualty predictions varied widely, but were extremely high. Depending on the degree to which Japanese civilians would have resisted the invasion, estimates ran up into the millions for Allied casualties.
