Large Professor (born William Paul Mitchell on March 21, 1973, in Harlem, New York, New York. USA), also known as Large Pro and Extra P., is a New York City-based hip hop rapper and record producer. He is also best known as a founding member of the influential underground hip hop group Main Source, and as mentor and frequent collaborator of Nas.About.com ranked Large Professor #5 on its Top 50 Hip-Hop Producers list.
In 1989, he joined the group Main Source, which also included K-Cut and Sir Scratch from Toronto. Main Source recorded one album with Large called Breaking Atoms, which was released in 1991. It included hits such as "Just Hangin' Out", "Looking at the Front Door," and featured Nas' first public appearance on a track called "Live at the Barbeque", along with Akinyele and Joe Fatal. In 1992, their success allowed them to record "Fakin' the Funk", a track on the White Men Can't Jump motion-picture soundtrack. Because of business differences, Large and Main Source quietly parted ways and Large went on to sign with Geffen/MCA Records. During and after his tenure with Main Source, he worked with Pete Rock & CL Smooth, and he produced a number of tracks for Nas, Busta Rhymes, Masta Ace, The X-Ecutioners, Tragedy Khadafi, Big Daddy Kane, Mobb Deep, and others during the 1990s.
Peer pressure (or social pressure) is influence a peer group, observers, or an individual exerts that encourages others to change their attitudes, values, or behaviors to conform to those of the influencing group or individual. Social groups affected include both membership groups, in which individuals are "formally" members (such as political parties and trade unions), and cliques in which membership is not clearly defined. However, a person does not need to be a member or be seeking membership of a group to be affected by peer pressure. One may also recognize dissociative groups, with which one wishes to avoid associating, and thus behave counter to that group's norms.
Peers become an important influence on behavior during adolescence, and peer pressure has been called a hallmark of adolescent experience. Peer conformity in young people is most pronounced with respect to style, taste, appearance, ideology, and values. Peer pressure is commonly associated with episodes of adolescent risk taking (such as delinquency, drug abuse, sexual behaviors, and reckless driving) because these activities commonly occur in the company of peers. Affiliation with friends who engage in risk behaviors has been shown to be a strong predictor of an adolescent's own behavior. Peer pressure can also have positive effects when youth are pressured by their peers toward positive behavior, such as volunteering for charity or excelling in academics. The importance of peers declines upon entering adulthood.

"Peer Pressure" is the first single from Mobb Deep's debut album Juvenile Hell. It was released under the 4th & Broadway label. The b-side features the song "Flavor For The Non-Believers". On Prodigy's first verse, he stated that he "dreamed of being an architect" before taking up hip hop.

Side B
Mobb Deep is an American hip hop duo from Queensbridge, Queens, New York, United States that consists of Havoc and Prodigy. The duo is "one of the most critically acclaimed hardcore East Coast Hip-Hop groups." The group is best known for its dark, hardcore delivery as exemplified by their hit track "Shook Ones (Part II)." Mobb Deep has become one of the most successful rap duos in hip hop, having sold over three million records.
Two of their albums have been critical successes, The Infamous (1995) and Hell on Earth (1996). The group briefly disbanded in 2012 but has since reunited.
Havoc and Prodigy met at the High School of Art and Design in New York City. Originally dubbing themselves the Poetical Prophets, the duo later changed its name to Mobb Deep to "reflect their reputation on the streets." Before the group's career beginnings, a fifteen-year-old Prodigy was featured on the classic movie soundtrack to Boyz n the Hood on Hi-Five's track "Too Young". In 1993, when Havoc and Prodigy were nineteen, they released their debut album, Juvenile Hell which was promoted by the single "Peer Pressure." The album sold poorly and eventually met with harsh reviews that dismissed the duo as just another hardcore group with little to distinguish it from the rest of the hip-hop world, despite production by DJ Premier and Large Professor. In 1993 Havoc made a guest appearance on the critically acclaimed Black Moon album Enta Da Stage on a song titled "U Da Man." In 1994 the duo released a single titled "Shook Ones Part 1".
The Infamous Mobb Deep is the eighth studio album by American hip hop duo Mobb Deep, which is composed of Havoc and Prodigy. The album was released on April 1, 2014, by Prodigy's Infamous Records and Sony's RED Distribution. The Infamous Mobb Deep is a double album that consists of one disc of new original music and another of unreleased tracks from the recording sessions from their second studio album The Infamous (1995). The album has been in development since 2011, but was delayed by a feud that occurred between Havoc and Prodigy during 2012. However, they shortly reconciled.
The duo toured to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut studio album during 2013. This led to the two reconvening to get back into the album's recording process. The album's production was handled by Havoc, Boi-1da, Illmind and The Alchemist among others. The album contains guest appearances from French Montana, Juicy J, The LOX, Bun B, Busta Rhymes, Nas, and Snoop Dogg among others. The 1994 Infamous Sessions contains guest appearances from Big Noyd, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, and Nas. The album was supported by the singles "Taking You off Here" and "Say Something".

For this installment of Rhythm Roulette, Mass Appeal presents Extra P, aka Large Professor. We took the legendary Queens producer to Human Head Records in Brooklyn, where he picked three random records to begin a game of Rhythm Roulette. He ended up grabbing an Instant Funk record, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes’ Black and Blue album, and Shirley Scott’s On A Clear Day. From there, Extra P began to go through the records and create some new heat from what he picked. When people close to your age try to influence you, it’s called peer pressure. A peer can be a friend, classmate, family member or anyone you hang out with. Peers can pressure you to make the same decisions they do. Sometimes peers will pressure you to do something dangerous, foolish, against the law or that you don’t feel ready for, like having sex. Peer pressure is a normal part of growing up. Everyone feels peer pressure, even adults. It can be hard to know what’s the right decision to make when you feel peer pressure. It’s your life and your choices. Make sure that the decisions you make are based on what you want—not what your peers want. -- Please like, share and subscribe to AMAZE! The Behavioral Science Guys, a.k.a. the _New York Times_ bestselling authors David Maxfield and Joseph Grenny, use behavioral science to explain why smart people do dumb things when they’re simply “following the crowd.” Joseph and David conduct an experiment to explore the power of social influence—also known as peer pressure. They found that 2/3 of any group regardless of gender, age, or background goes along with the crowd proving that social influence is extremely powerful. However, when the BS Guys introduce a confederate who practices one simple skill—the polite expression of doubt—95% of the test subjects now express their true opinion! What can we learn? Never underestimate the power of one. When you feel you are the odd person out, don’t stifle your concerns, but learn how to e...
