A Brief Summary of the Orthodox Baha'i Faith
THE BAHÁ’Í FAITH UNDER THE GUARDIANSHIP
The Bahá’í Faith, under the Guardianship, is distinguished by the acceptance of the Will and Testament of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, the Son of the Founder of the Faith, as a divinely-conceived, sacred, immutable and immortal Document which delineates the essential Institutions of an unique Administrative Order which, together with the application of the Laws and Principles revealed by Bahá’u’lláh, constitutes the basis for the establishment of the World Order of Bahá’u’lláh and a future World Civilization.

Baha'i Faith Guardians
If you yourself study the Will and Testament of Abdul Baha you will find that
“It is incumbent upon the Guardian to appoint another Guardian (His successor) in his life time.”
Are you ready to believe that our First Guardian, Shoghi Effendi, against the wishes of the Center of the Covenant, did not appoint second Guardian in his lifetime? No. Never. it is impossible.
Through a series of Cablegrams, between 1950 and 1957, Shoghi Effendi established the embryonic International Baha’i COuncil. Shoghi intended that this Council would involve through several steps, first as the International Baha’i Court, and than into the Universal House of Justice. Shoghi Appointed an American Hand of the Cause, Mason Remey, as its President.

This Order was established in embryonic form by Shoghi Effendi, the first Guardian of the Bahá’í Faith during a 36 year ministry. He had been appointed by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá in His Will and Testament, a Document which also provided for the continuity of this Institution as long as the Dispensation of Bahá’u’lláh endured through a succession of Guardians of the Faith each appointed by his predecessor "in his own lifetime." Sole interpretative authority of Bahá’í Holy Writ has been vested by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá in the Guardians who also serve as the "sacred head and the distinguished member for life" of the Universal House of Justice, the highest legislative organ of the Administrative Order and in this capacity provide "the necessary guidance to define the sphere of the legislative action" of this institution and insure that such subsidiary laws as are enacted by this body are in conformity with the immutable Laws revealed by Bahá’u’lláh in His Most Holy Book. Shoghi Effendi stated that the twin institutions of the Guardianship and the Universal House of Justice "supplement each other’s authority and functions" are inseparable and are "the twin pillars that support this mighty Administrative Structure."
Unlike sans-Guardian Bahá’ís who believe that the Guardianship ended with the passing of Shoghi Effendi, the Bahá’ís under the living Guardian believe that Shoghi Effendi appointed his successor, Mason Remey, in faithful compliance with the sacred provisions of the Will and Testament of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and that only complete acceptance of him as the second Guardian and the "Center of the Cause" and, in turn, his appointed successor, constitutes fidelity to the Covenant of Bahá’u’lláh.

Shoghi intended that this Council would involve through several steps, first as the International Baha’i Court, and than into the Universal House of Justice. Shoghi Appointed an American Hand of the Cause, Mason Remey, as its President.
In this way Shoghi Effendi appointed Mason Remy, as his successor, the second Guardian of the Baha’i Faith, since the President of the Universal House of Justice and the Guardian are one and the same person.
Shoghi Effendi died suddenly in London in November, 1957. As he left no Will, it was assumed by the Hands that he had not named a successor.
Regarding the Hand’s decision that the Guardianship had ended. It states that they sent a message to the Baha’i world declaring the end of the Guardianship. In fact, although they made the decision that the Guardianship was “badaa’ they did not announce it and kept it secret so that they could slowly condition the believers to accept the end of the Guardianship.
Mason Remy tried hard to convince these Hands of Cause and asked them not to separate Guardianship from the Baha’i Faith, They could not be convinced and they pushed the Baha’i world towards such darkness from where it was difficult for the Baha’is to come out.
In 1960, Mason Remey declared that Shoghi Effendi had appointed him as the second guardian of the Baha’i Faith.
Joel B. Marangella received a letter from Mason Remey dated 5 December, 1961, instructing him to keep the enclosed envelope unopened, until such time as he felt appropriate. Then, on 21 September 1964, Mason publicly announced the creation of the Second International Baha’i Council, naming Joel B. Marangella as its President. Soon thereafter, Joel opened the sealed 1961 document. which asked Joel to tell the Baha’i world that Mason had appointed Joel as the Third Guardian.
In the summer of 1965, Mason instructed Joel to tell the Baha’i World of the activation of the Council, and the October issue of the “Glad Tidings” did so. Joel B. Marangella served as the third guardian of the Faith
In 1992 the Orthodox Baha’i got a pleasant Success when in the capital of India, Delhi, there was establishment of National Orthodox Baha’i Council. Charles Mason Remey was born in Burlington, Iowa, on May 15, 1874. Mason Remey married Gertrude Heim Klemm in Paris on 17th July, 1931, and she died in Washington, D.C. 5th August, 1932.
Mason Remey the Architect
With a background in architecture, Mason Remey was asked to design the Australian and Ugandan Bahá'í House of Worship, which still stand today and are the Mother Temples for Australasia and Africa respectively. Upon the request of Shoghi Effendi, he also provided designs for a Bahá'í Houses of Worship to be built in Tehran, and on Mount Carmel in Haifa, and designed the magnificent International Archives building, the latter already constructed close to the Shrine of the Bab on Mount Carmel.
Mason Remey Writings
Mason Remey traveled extensively to promote the Bahá'í Faith during the Ministry of `Abdu'l-Bahá. Shoghi Effendi recorded that Mason Remey was the first Bahá'í to circle the globe teaching the Faith. A prolific writer, Mason Remey wrote numerous articles, many of which were published, promoting the Bahá'í Faith, including Abdu'l-Bahá – The Center of the Covenant and the five volume A Comprehensive History of the Bahá'í Movement (1927), The Bahá'í Revelation and Reconstruction (1919), Constructive Principles of The Bahá'í Movement (1917), and The Bahá'í Movement: A Series of Nineteen Papers (1912), comprising a few of the titles of the many works Mason Remey produced while `Abdu'l-Bahá was still alive. Mason Remey's life has been recorded in his diaries, and in 1940 he provided copies and selected writings to several public libraries. Included in most of the collections were the letters `Abdu'l-Bahá wrote to him. Mason Remey’s memoir of his final visit with ‘Abdu’l Baha in 1921 records the following words ‘Abdu’l Baha’s addressed to him at that time:
"I have adopted you as my son. You have to appreciate this favor very much indeed. One should see that you are living according to the requirements of this sonship. You should be aware of your responsibilities. My prayers will help you. I always pray for you."
