The story of the orthodox Jews that oppose Israel | Rabbi Elhanan Beck | UNAPOLOGETIC
Rabbi Elhanan Beck has lived outside of Israel since he was three years old, this is despite the fact that his family lineage in what he calls “Palestine” goes back seven generations.
Beck stands with what he says are the vast majority of Orthodox Jews who strongly oppose Israel. Their reason: The Jewish religious principle that Jews need to live in exile until the “peaceful” arrival of the messiah, and because of the “oppression” and “brutality” that Israel is built upon.
In this in-depth interview Rabbi Elhanan speaks about Judaism, Israel, Zionism, and 'red cows', and he reacts to what he openly calls Israel’s “genocide” in Gaza.

Orthodox Jews REACT to Messianic Jews Sharing ISAIAH 53
Jeff and Elisha are Jewish believers in Jesus and went to Jerusalem to share scripture and Jesus with religious Jews. *Check out their responses.
(*All people interviewed agreed to be filmed.)
The inter-Jewish dispute regarding Jesus as Messiah has existed since Jesus. We have a passion for sharing our faith in Jesus as Jews with other Jews with love and respect. We love our Jewish brothers and sisters even though we disagree regarding our faith. We pray that all will come to recognize Jesus as the Jewish Messiah and Savior of the world.
Evidence of the New Testament from the Old Testament:

Leaving the ultra-orthodox – Jews seeking a new life in Germany | DW Documentary
Increasing numbers of Jews have been leaving ultra-orthodox communities in recent years. Surprisingly, Germany has become a popular refuge for them. Rabbi Akiva Weingarten has been helping them.
More than 1.3 million Jews live in ultra-orthodox communities worldwide. It’s a kind of parallel universe — in which only God’s laws count. Every aspect of everyday life is clearly regulated: The women are responsible for the home and for looking after the children while the men devote their lives to religious study. But some ten percent of ultra-orthodox Jews in Israel go on to quit their communities - and that figure is growing. The majority are young adults and, surprisingly, many come to Germany. Akiva Weingarten was one of them. He grew up in an ultra-orthodox Satmar community in New York Sta...

Why the Ultra-Orthodox Jews in ISRAEL Refuse to Work and Fight for Their Country
The war between Israel and Hamas has been going on for five months and according to the Israel Defense Forces, the fighting in Gaza will likely last throughout 2024. The army is also preparing for a further escalation of fighting on the Lebanese border, where Hezbollah and allied Palestinian terrorist groups have been carrying out daily rocket, missile and drone attacks. So the Israeli army is at the limit of its forces. As a result, it plans to increase the reservists' length of service. Currently, men serve for 32 months, while women serve for 24 months. With the proposed changes, it will increase the period of mandatory service for male and female soldiers in combat to 36 months. In addition, the defense forces also plan to increase the retirement age for soldiers from 40 to 45 and for ...

Why Israel’s ultra-Orthodox Jews might soon have to serve in the military | DW News
Since Israel’s founding, ultra-Orthodox Jews in the country have been exempt from serving in the military so they can better devote themselves to religious study.
Today they number some 66,000 but last month, Israel's top court effectively lifted that exemption, triggering huge protests from the Orthodox community.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has until the end of the month to agree on a new conscription plan.

He grew up in an ultra-orthodox Satmar community in New York State but made a radical break in 2014. He left his wife and children and started a new life in Berlin - without a credit card, a bank account or a job, or any relatives to fall back on. He is now surrounded by a free community of former ultra-orthodox Jews - who turn to the rabbi for practical and religious advice. Moshe Barnett and David Lamberger have only been flat mates in Dresden for a few months now. They are not just seeking a new life, but a new relationship with God.

https://wn.com/Leaving_The_Ultra_Orthodox_–_Jews_Seeking_A_New_Life_In_Germany_|_Dw_Documentary

In addition, the defense forces also plan to increase the retirement age for soldiers from 40 to 45 and for officers from 45 to 50. This proposal, which increases the burden on those already serving in the military, generated a strong reaction among Israeli politicians because, in their opinion, the increased burden of military service should fall on the community of ultra-Orthodox Jews, because despite representing 13% of the entire population of Israel, this community is exempt from military service. Something that has obviously generated friction for many years with the rest of Israelis, but now, in the midst of the conflict, has become more controversial. So the questions are: why don't ultra-Orthodox Jews in Israel have to join the army like the rest of Israelis? Why don't most ultra-Orthodox Jews work? And why, if they do work, do they get lower salaries?

Since Israel’s founding, ultra-Orthodox Jews in the country have been exempt from serving in the military so they can better devote themselves to religious study.
Today they number some 66,000 but last month, Israel's top court effectively lifted that exemption, triggering huge protests from the Orthodox community.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has until the end of the month to agree on a new conscription plan.

WW2: The Rise of Nazism and the Holocaust | The Jewish Story | Unpacked
Despite facing antisemitism in the 1920s and 1930s, European Jews, especially those in Germany, lived well as integral members of society. However, that all changed when a fringe political movement rose to power.
The National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi Party) and their leader, Adolf Hitler, vowed to annihilate all Jews, whom they viewed as “parasites”. By the end of World War II, some six million Jews and five million others had been murdered at the hands of the Nazis and their supporters.
The effects of the atrocities of the Holocaust are still felt today by Jews around the world, and Jewish communities have worked tirelessly to educate the world about these horrors so that they never happen again.

Israelism: How Young American Jews’ Views of Israel Are Shifting | Films on VICE
The critically acclaimed feature-length documentary ‘Israelism’ investigates a movement of young American Jews who are campaigning to redefine Judaism’s relationship with Israel.
At the heart of the documentary are Simone Zimmerman, who grew up in Los Angeles and visited Israel on an exchange programme; and fellow American Eitan, who joins the Israeli military after graduating high school. Simone and Eitan are raised to defend the state of Israel at all costs but their lives are changed when they witness the mistreatment of Palestinians with their own eyes.
Their stories reveal a generational divide in the American Jewish community as more young Jews question the narratives their synagogues and Hebrew school teachers gave them as children.
‘Israelism’ features interviews with academics ...

As someone who grew up Jewish in Arizona, I’ve always been fascinated by the Hasidic Jews of Brooklyn, New York. They are widely considered to be America’s most religious and closed-off community, even more than the Amish of Pennsylvania. In this 47-minute documentary, I embark on a journey to uncover the secrets of the Hasidics behind closed doors, and discover what makes their lifestyles so incredibly unique.
Guided in the beginning by my friend Abby Stein, a former Hasidic rabbi who is now a transgender author, I gain a fascinating insight into Hasidic life and customs from her perspective - both the good and the bad.
In our climax scene, I meet with @ShloimeZionce, a fellow traveler and YouTuber, who opens the doors to his home so I could document a traditional Shabbat dinner with his family. With the permission of a rabbi, we capture the essence of this essential weekly ritual and the warmth and hospitality of the Hasidic people. You can follow Shloime's adventures on his channel: https://www.youtube.com/ShloimeZionce
This story is really fascinating and I'm really proud of how it came out. From the traditional clothing, music, and food to the strict gender roles and controversies surrounding the community, this documentary dives deep into every aspect of Hasidic life with a balanced portrayal of the good and the bad.
Join me on this captivating journey to experience the Hasidic Jews of Brooklyn, New York, like never seen before.

Even though Jews make up less than one quarter of one percent of the world’s population, they are one of the most targeted minority groups in the world. Why all the hate for the Jews?
Before we look at why people hate Jews, also known as Antisemitism, we need to define “Jew.” A Jew is someone who identifies with the cultural community whose traditional religion is Judaism and who traces their ancestry to the ancient Hebrew people of Israel, all the way back to Abraham. Jewish people are considered an ethnoreligious group. Both an ethnic group and a religion. There are plenty who identify as Jews yet are not religious. Israel’s Law of Return, which is the law that gives Jews the right to visit and be a citizen of Israel, says a Jew is someone with either a Jewish mother or who has converted to Judaism.
Anyway, during the time of Jesus in ancient Israel, many were of course Jewish, including Jesus himself. After Jesus died, his followers started a new religion called Christianity. As Christianity spread, and as more and more Roman emperors converted to the religion, Jews became marginalized in society, even though Jews worshipped the same God as Christians did. Roman rulers viewed the refusal of the Jewish community to accept Jesus as the Messiah as a threat. They straight up passed laws that discriminated against Jews. In the year 399, a law saying Jews couldn’t marry Christians, in 439, a law saying Jews couldn’t hold positions in government. In 531, a law saying they couldn’t appear as witnesses against Christians in court. Rumors began to spread that Jews had horns and tails, and that they killed Christian children and used their blood for rituals.
In the Middle Ages, many societies forced Jews to live in segregated ghettos and wear special clothing. The Catholic Church did not allow Jews to own land, so Jews couldn’t build up wealth through property. However, the Church also didn’t let Christians loan money for profit. Jews could, so they often turned to money lending to build up wealth. Due to the fact that nearly every moneylender happened to be Jewish, this ended up creating a stereotype that Jews were greedy. I mean, people who loan money and charge interest throughout history have rarely been seen in a positive light, amIright? Christian rulers used Jewish money to build extravagant churches and build up armies.
By the 11th century, Christianity dominated Europe, and the main minority religion was Judaism. Jews seemed to be the one group Christians could not convert, seen as outsiders. By this time, the Catholic Church was even teaching that Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus. And then, the Black Death. During the 14th century, the bubonic plague spread quickly across Europe, killing around ⅓ of its entire population. Since this was before science, people had no idea what was causing it. Due to superstition and fear, and without any evidence whatsoever, Christians blamed Jews for causing the plague, accusing them of poisoning wells to spread the disease.

‘Israelism’ features interviews with academics and political activists, including Noam Chomsky, Cornel West, Lara Friedman and a former director of the Anti-Defamation League, Abe Foxman. The film was initially released in February 2023, generating significant debate across American campuses.
