Oregon Route 22 is an Oregonstate highway that runs between the Oregon Coast community of Hebo, to an interchange with U.S. Route 20 near Santiam Pass in the Cascade Mountains. OR22 traverses several highways of the Oregon state highway system: the Three Rivers Highway No.32, part of the Salmon River Highway No.39, the Willamina–Salem Highway No.30, part of the Salem Highway No.72, and the North Santiam Highway No.162.

Three Rivers Highway
Oregon Route 22, known by the locals as Sourgrass, begins (at its western terminus) at a junction with U.S. Route 101 in the coastal town of Hebo. The first section, known as the Three Rivers Highway No. 32 (see Oregon highways and routes), is a mostly scenic route; however, it is narrow and winding, and not well-suited for high-volume traffic. OR 22 winds eastward though the coast range along the Little Nestucca River, until it reaches the community of Grand Ronde. There, it joins with Oregon Route 18 at a location known as Valley Junction, and overlaps OR 18 along part of the Salmon River Highway No. 39 in an approximately four-mile stretch between Grand Ronde and Willamina, at which point OR 22 heads southeast towards Salem, while OR 18 goes northeast towards the Portland area. The portion from Hebo to Grand Ronde was formerly signed as OR 14.
State Route 22 (SR 22) in the U.S. state of California is an east–west highway in southern Los Angeles County and northern Orange County. It runs between Long Beach and Orange by way of Garden Grove. The westernmost part of it is a surface street, Long Beach's 7th Street. From Long Beach to its eastern terminus in Orange, it is known as the Garden Grove Freeway. It is one of the two principal east–west routes in Orange County (the other being SR 91 approximately eight miles (13 km) to the north).
Route description
SR 22 is part of the California Freeway and Expressway System. SR 22 from Route 405 to Route 55 is known as the Garden Grove Freeway, as named by the State Highway Commission on October 22, 1957. An 8-mile (13km) stretch of Route 22 is named the Garden Grove Police Officers Memorial Highway to honor police officers killed in the line of duty.
SR 22 begins at the intersection of 7th Street and Pacific Coast Highway (State Route 1) in Long Beach. Then, 7th Street widens from an expressway into a freeway just before crossing the San Gabriel River (and with it, the Los Angeles/Orange County line). It then merges with the San Diego Freeway (Interstate 405) at the Interstate 605 interchange and runs concurrently with it for approximately three miles before the two routes diverge in northeastern Seal Beach. Thereafter, the Garden Grove Freeway travels mostly within the city of Garden Grove or along its border with neighboring Westminster. Just inside the Orange city limits, the freeway enters the infamously congested Orange Crush interchange with the Santa Ana and Orange Freeways (Interstate 5 and State Route 57, respectively). It continues along the border of Orange and Santa Ana for 3 miles (4.8km) until terminating at the Costa Mesa Freeway (State Route 55).
Part of the route is the successor to the No. 34 streetcar and bus line.
History
In 1907, the no. 34 streetcar started operating, known then as the Highlandtown Short Line. It operated until 1950, when it was converted in a bus route.
Route 22 started operating in 1947 as the successor to Bus Route S, which operated along a similar route starting in 1937.
An unbuilt extension of the Succor Creek Highway is designated southward from the start of the Homedale Spur to US 95.
History
Oregon Route 201 originally existed only as the Succor Creek Highway. It continued south of Adrian via Jordan Valley to McDermitt, where it continued as Nevada State Route 8. The route was completely decommissioned in 1940 with the extension of U.S. Route 95 through Oregon. It would not see new life until U.S. Route 30 was rerouted around Farewell Bend on roughly its current route.
US197 was established in 1952 using the existing The Dalles-California Highway, itself created as a part of the initial named Oregon highways in 1917. US197 traveled from its current northern terminus at Dallesport to US97 in Maryhill along Primary State Highway8 (PSH8) and US830, successors to the original State Road8 designated along the corridor in 1907. The Dallesport–Maryhill section was transferred to SR14 in 1979, but was not recognized by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) until 2006.
Oregon Route 39 begins at an interchange with U.S. Route 97, north of downtown Klamath Falls, and just west of the main campus of the Oregon Institute of Technology. For the first 5 miles (8.0km) of its existence, it is an urban expressway, known locally as either Kit Carson Way or as the East Side Bypass, that skirts the eastern edge of Klamath Falls. The northernmost mile or so is shared with U.S. Route 97 Business, which departs from OR 39 and heads downtown via Esplanade Street.
East of the junction with Main Street, OR 39 continues in a southeasterly direction, skirting the main business district. The East Side Bypass ends at an intersection with 6th Street (OR 39 Business), in the eastern suburb of Altamont. OR 39 then heads east-southeast on 6th street for several more miles, until an intersection with Oregon Route 140.
From U.S. Route 97, including the concurrency with U.S. 97 Business, to its departure from OR 140, including the concurrency, OR 39 consists of concurrent parts of the Klamath Falls-Malin Highway No. 50 (see Oregon highways and routes) and the Klamath Falls-Lakeview Highway No. 20.
