An open letter is a letter that is intended to be read by a wide audience, or a letter intended for an individual, but that is nonetheless widely distributed intentionally.
Open letters usually take the form of a letter addressed to an individual but provided to the public through newspapers and other media, such as a letter to the editor or blog. Especially common are critical open letters addressed to political leaders.
Currently there are very few sites solely specialising in publishing open letters. However, there are community sites where visitors can publish their own letters and promote them to a wider audience. Sociological or historical research on open letters are also not found, although sociologists and historians have written open letters. Recently, a professor of anthropology at Vidyasagar University in India has written a comprehensive article on open letter.
Letters patent are another form of open letter in which a legal document is both mailed to a person by the government, and publicized so that all are made aware of it. Open letters can also be addressed directly to a group rather than any individual.
Upon its release, Magna Carta Holy Grail was met with mixed reviews from music critics. Some complimented the album's production and composition, while others were disappointed with its overall theme and found many songs repetitive. On the day of its physical release in the United States, the album was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of 1,000,000 copies. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, selling 528,000copies in its first week, making it Jay-Z's 13th consecutive studio album to top the chart. On September 2, 2013, it was announced that Magna Carta Holy Grail was certified double Platinum by the RIAA, for shipments of two million copies in the United States. The album was nominated in six categories at the 2014 Grammy Awards winning the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration trophy for "Holy Grail" featuring Justin Timberlake.

Jamaal St John goes in on this poem! His poem addresses many issues concerning the imaging of black men in the major entertainment media with a special focus on Tyler Perry and his movies. poet/spoken word artist has been honing his literary craft for over (15 years). Jamaal is
a graduate of New Rochelle High School and attended Northeastern University majoring
in Criminal Justice. This poet's lyrical style is like no other. Jamaal's poetry is a cross
between old school hip-hop rhyme schemes with cunning wordplay, accentuated with
relevant social, political, cultural and economic topics. Jamaal manages to layer these
aspects with a comical dexterity that only few poets can match. Jamaal has many
accolades to his credit. He is a five (5) time Nuyorican Poets Café Grand Slam Finalist
for years 1996, 1997, 2000, 2008, and 2010 (he is the only poet in Nuyorican Poets
Café history to do so) and has won the coveted title of Nuyorican Slam King (December
2000). Jamaal highly contributed to the success of the Nuyorican National Slam Team
placing third in August 2000 as a member along with fellow teammates Bryonn Bain,
Helena D. Lewis and Tehut-Nine. Jamaal has had the auspicious title of Captain of the
Poetic Battles Slam Team at the World Famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York.
He has had second most wins at the acclaimed Hottest Poets slams based at Jimmy's
Uptown Restaurant in Harlem, New York. Jamaal taped for Russell Simmons' Def
Poetry during the second season. He was the Nuyorican Grand Slam Champion in
2008. Jamaal performed on the Nuyorican Poet's Cafe National Slam Team in 2010
coming in second in the nation out of 75+ teams. Jamaal is a 6-time and current

is Southpaw Stance. Jamaal's upcoming book The Status Quote, a book containing his
own meaningiful quotations on love and relationships will be due in Spring 2012.

This is my open letter, This is something to remember. I won't be buried before my time, I'm not searching for forever, I've got my eyes opened wide, I've been searching under rubble from the past, just looking for a reason to make your life last. No need to look skyward for you to find hope, no need for redemption to be saved from the rope, Fuck No! I'm not searching the sky for a reason to live 'cause I found beauty right here and found the passion to give, so let me give you my heart, let me give you my tears, let me give you my life, let me give you my fears. Just so you can hold on and sing while I do, sing these words out so loud, like I sing them for you. This is your open letter, something to remember, we can still keep on fighting even though life is not forever. I'm not searching the sky for a reason to live 'cause I found beauty right here and found the passion to give, so let me give you my heart, let me give you my tears, let me give you my life, let me give you my fears. This is my open letter, this is something to remember. This is my open letter, I'm not searching for forever. I'm not searching the sky for a reason to live 'cause I found beauty right here and found the passion to give, so let me give you my heart, let me give you my tears, let me give you my life, let me give you my fears. One more time! I'm not searching the sky for a reason to live 'cause I found beauty right here and found the passion to give, so let me give you my heart, let me give you my tears,
