A soliloquy (from Latin solo "to oneself" + loquor "I talk") is a device often used in drama when a character speaks to himself or herself, relating thoughts and feelings, thereby also sharing them with the audience, giving off the illusion of being a series of unspoken reflections. If other characters are present, they keep silent and/or are disregarded by the speaker.
The term soliloquy is distinct from a monologue or an aside: a monologue is a speech where one character addresses other characters; an aside is a (usually short) comment by one character towards the audience, though during the play it may seem like the character is addressing him or herself.
Soliloquies were frequently used in dramas but went out of fashion when drama shifted towards realism in the late 18th century.
Soliloquies in Shakespeare
Shakespeare’s soliloquies contain some of his most original and powerful writing. Possibly prompted by the essays of Montaigne, he explores in his greatest tragedies the way someone wrestles with their private thoughts under pressure, often failing to perceive the flaws in their own thinking, as in the great galloping I-vii soliloquy (‘if ‘twere done when ‘tis done…’) in which Macbeth unconsciously reveals through his imagery his fear of damnation but fails to realise what really holds him back from murdering his king: simply the fact that it is wrong.
The now jobless carousel barker Billy Bigelow, the antihero of the musical, sings this seven-and-a-half minute song just after he has learned he is about to become a father. In it, he happily daydreams over what it would be like to be a father to a boy, but midway through the song, he is horrified and disappointed to realize that it could turn out to be a girl. The song immediately becomes more tender, as he begins to like the idea. At song's end, he considers that a girl needs the very best a father can offer, and decides to get money to provide for her. It is this idea that spurs him on to help his criminal pal Jigger Craigin in committing a robbery, an act which ultimately leads to personal disaster for Billy.
Frank Sinatra had recently become a father when he recorded "Soliloquy" for the first time on May 28, 1946. With the time limitation of about 3:30 on a 10" 78-rpm record his 7:57 long recording was released on Columbia's Masterwork label (the classical division) as two sides of a 12" record.
"Oceans" is a song by American rock musician D. S. Bradford. The song was recorded in 2012 and released as a single in conjunction with an original hand drawn art piece on July 1, 2014. According to an interview in Vents Magazine, "Oceans" was Bradford's "testament to a fresh start, a new outlook on life." The song was produced and recorded entirely by Bradford. It was also reported during the interview that "Oceans" is the lead single from Bradford's upcoming debut EP, due for release in 2015.
Composition and recording
"Oceans" is a rock song described as blending punk rock elements with modulated guitar tones reminiscent of alternative rock. The song was written on January 8, 2012 and recorded completely on January 23, 2012. "Oceans" was the first song of a new era for Bradford, having returned from a hiatus from music to set straight his life and his priorities. The lyrical content alludes to retrieving a life from loss and regaining a hold on reality that was threatened by the actions of a person who lost their way in the superficial.
"Oceans" is a song by Canadian rock band The Tea Party. It was released as a promotional single in Canada, and their last single before disbanding. The music video was created by a team of animators and motion graphics students at York University headed by Jaimie Webster and Jonathon Corbiére.
"Oceans" was written in dedication to The Tea Party's late manager Steve Hoffman, who died of lung cancer in 2003. With the release of the single, The Tea Party hoped to bring more attention to the Steven Hoffman Fund.
OneOneThousand is the third full-length studio album by American post-hardcore band Burden of a Day. The album was released on May 12, 2009. It is their second album with Rise Records, and the first with lead singer Kyle Tamosaitis. The album debuted at #21 on the BillboardTop Heatseekers chart and #25 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.
Deinonychus was a Dutch doom metal band formed in 1992 by Marco Kehren. There is a close relationship between Deinonychus and the German band Bethlehem: Kehren provided vocals on S.U.I.Z.I.D., Reflektionen auf's Sterben and Profane Fetmilch Lenzt Elf Krank, while Bethlehem bassist and lyricist Jürgen Bartsch joined Deinonychus in 2005. The first three albums and the early demos released as
After the rain falls...an empty sky remains feature Kehren on all instruments and vocals; 1999's Deinonychus added Cradle of Filth drummer William Sarginson, and 2002's Mournument was recorded with a full band.
The band announced that they disbanded in September 2008.
Marco Kehren nowadays runs a martial industrial band by the name of Nihil Novi Sub Sole (Band). Warfare

Music by Marco Kehren/Deinonychus Lyrics by Shane Davison Like thousands of ripples in the ocean, thousands and thousands of ripples Or a ight full with burning stars, burning bright with the fires of the sky I see an unhappiness in your eyes, always in the eyes lies the truth The loneliness in your voice, on the verge of tears, Even across vast amounts of time, even without the use of time I know you all too well And I know that without you, I'm in my own self-made hell If I threw a single coin into these oceans, one single coin Would it take forever for the wves to reach you, and drown you in their volume, Tears descend everytime I look out unto the night, and lay waste on my tongue And to think somewhere you are looking out unto this same night, with another by your side No matter how many times I cut into myself, deeper and deeper I cut No amounts of blood can stop my hurt So I just look back out at the night Even the pleasure of orgasmic rush, the screams of absolute pleasure Can no longer bury the dulled pain in my heart, and wash away the grief This tired and weary heart, burned away by the pain, I just want to rush out into your arms, but the embrace would deem so cold now But dont have the strength, this mass ocean keeps us far apart, And again, I must pull myself out of melancholy. Many, many times I see your face, as if spinning in a dream Deep in though of your hateful love, blind was I to it But when I try to grasp you, you fade away, just like a dream And your laughter echoes in my mind, they're all laughing And across these oceans, I can still hear you laughing And I fall to my knees to cover my ears from the laughing Just like a thousand ripples in the ocean, thousands and thousands of ripples And a night sky satiated with burning stars, burning bright with the fires of the sky I see pools of unhappiness in your eyes, allways in the eyes lies the truth You can tell me no more lies, yet you keep telling me lies As they wont reach me anymore They could never reach across these oceans of soliloquy So dont tell me that you don't love me anymore, yet don't tell me that you love me either...
