North American Soccer League (NASL) was the top-level major professional soccerleague in the United States and Canada that operated from 1968 to 1984. It was the first soccer league to be successful on a national scale in the United States. The league final was called the Soccer Bowl from 1975 to 1983 and the Soccer Bowl Series in its final year, 1984. The league was headed by Commissioner Phil Woosnam from 1969 to 1983.
The league's popularity peaked in the late 1970s. The league averaged over 13,000 fans per game in each season from 1977 to 1983, and the league's matches were broadcast on network television from 1975 to 1980.
The league's most prominent team was the New York Cosmos. During the mid-to-late 1970s, the Cosmos signed a number of the world's best players —Pelé, Franz Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto— and the Cosmos averaged over 28,000 fans for each season from 1977 to 1982 while having three seasons of the average attendance topping 40,000 spectators per game. Other internationally well-known players in the league included Giorgio Chinaglia, Johann Cruyff, Johan Neeskens, Gerd Muller, George Best, and Rodney Marsh.
The 1968 North American Soccer League season was the 56th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer in the United States and Canada, and the 1st with a national first-division league with the inaugural season of the NASL.
The NASL was formed this year as a merger between the former top division soccer leagues, the United Soccer Association along with the National Professional Soccer League. In the inaugural year, the Atlanta Chiefs were the champions, by winning the NASL Final 3–0, in a two-game aggregate over the San Diego Toros. While the Chiefs were the champions for the season, the premiers for this season were the Toros, who obtained the highest point total.
Overview
17 teams competed in this inaugural season, and the Atlanta Chiefs won the championship. While San Diego won the premiership, Atlanta's winning percentage was higher because a match had been canceled. This would mark the first of five times in the league's history that the best record did not equate to a premiership.

Also interested in Hockey Wax Boxes or Stickers, even the Junk Card era of the 90s wax boxes.
Mainly I would be interested in Unwrapped Boxes for both which are readily available online in stores such as Amazon.
I would be interested in loose cards or stickers but it's easier to determine a value of a box when it's priced in a store.
I'd probably do one game per every $10 value of a box. So an example would be for a :

How They Shot Penalties In The NASL
I think it's a shame that the NASL's approach to penalties never really caught on. The attacking player had 5 seconds to move the ball from the 35 yard line up and shoot. The keeper could come off the line.
This comes from Soccer Bowl 1981 - the Chicago Sting vs the New York Cosmos. Sadly, this is near the end of the glory days of the NASL.

Henry Kissinger (US statesman)
Pele’s remarks:
“I had stopped playing here in Brazil, after a career of 20 years, so I thought that by playing in Europe, which paid better than the United States, I would play exactly the same way, and if that was the case, I was better off staying in Brazil. Furthermore, I would have the chance to see something new because football was just starting in the United States, and it was more like college football. I took all that in consideration and decided to go to Cosmos.”
If anyone is interested in old NASL soccer games on DVD or USB stick , I would be interested in trading for Soccer Cards or Panini Stickers.
2022 Panini World Cup Stickers Box is $72 on Amazon I would trade 7 games for it.
Prices vary online and I could direct anyone to a site of items that would interest me.
I'm pretty interested in any soccer from around the world I'm sure we can work something out.

Fantasy football as the game soared in popularity in the US. This clip is from a 1979 edition of ‘Brass Tacks’ which compared the commercialisation of soccer with the considerably less flashy version of top flight football that was on show in the UK.

The San Jose Earthquakes 2024/25 Alternate Jersey is a beautiful kit, but the history behind it is even more interesting! Time for a history lesson about Major League Soccer, San Jose Earthquakes, and why the 50th anniversary of the San Jose Earthquakes matters.
San Jose Earthquakes are one of the founding members of MLS, but began as an expansion franchise in the North American Soccer League, also known as NASL. The club has seen many iterations, but the 50th anniversary is significant as it’s one of the most important clubs in MLS history.
Let me know if you’d like to see a full video about the history of MLS.
