The Norfolk Admirals completed their three-game trip to Canada with a 4-1 victory over Trois-Rivières, securing their series sweep on Saturday afternoon. Three goals in the third period helped the Admirals maintain their position in first place in the ECHL North Division.
Thomas Milic returned to the cage for his 12th appearance this season, delivering an impressive display. He made 39 saves out of 40 shots, earning his ninth victory of the year, which is his career-high performance.
The game started with a close chance for Keaton Jameson, whose shot hit the post in the opening 20 seconds of the match. From then on, the pace slowed down, with both teams struggling to gain an advantage. Jameson and Mathieu Roy also had close chances in the first period, but their shots were saved by Lions goalie Joe Vrbetic, who made 13 saves in the frame.
Towards the end of the period, a scuffle between Mark Liwiski and Nicolas Lariviere resulted in multiple minor penalties and ten-minute misconducts. After the first period, the game remained scoreless, with Norfolk outshooting the Lions 13-10.
In the middle frame, the Admirals had a great effort offensively, putting 15 shots on goal. Almost five minutes into the second period, Andrew McLean made a diving effort to prevent a breakaway chance from Miguël Tourigny, resulting in a penalty shot.
Milic stood firm in the crease and Tourigny missed the shot wide. Just three minutes later, Carson Golder and Roy played the puck in the offensive zone before finding Justing Robidas out front, who made a spin-o-rama effort that found the back of the net. It was his ninth goal of the season.
The Admirals continued to maintain pressure in the offensive zone, while Milic played well in the crease. Late in the period, the Lions were penalized for tripping, and Norfolk went on the man advantage, but the score remained 1-0 after 40 minutes of play.
In the third period, the Admirals fired three goals past Vrbetic to secure their advantage. Just two minutes into the final period, Mark Liwiski deflected Josh McDougall's shot to score his fourth goal of the year, making it 2-0. Six minutes later, Keegan Iverson extended the lead to 3-0 by grabbing the rebound off of Vrbetic and netting his fourth goal of the year.
The score remained the same until the latter part of the frame, where the Lions emptied their net in hopes of finding a spark of life. After winning the faceoff, Thomas Caron gained possession of the puck in the neutral zone and fired it into the open goal, making it 4-0. Milic's shutout bid would be broken in the final two minutes of the game, but the Admirals went on to win the game decisively.
With this win, the Admirals earned the series sweep and improved their record to 14-7-1-1 on the year, concluding a spectacular week for the Norfolk Admirals.

After splitting their weekend series against Jacksonville last weekend, the Norfolk Admirals took a trip up to Quebec for a three-game series against the Trois-Rivières Lions. In a highly competitive battle, the Admirals outlasted the Lions, 4-3.

He obtained the rebound off Bouthillier, who saved the deflected shot from Carson Golder, and then Robidas shot the puck through the five-hole.
For most of the first period, Norfolk was in control, but towards the end, the Lions gained some momentum. With six minutes remaining in the period, William Lemay tapped in the puck after Nicolas Lariviere's shot was saved by Milic but slid behind him into the crease. This goal cut Norfolk's lead to 2-1. The momentum slowly shifted towards the Lions near the end of the period, but the Admirals remained ahead 2-1 after 20 minutes.
In the second period of the game, Trois-Rivières continued their late momentum and tied the game at two with Anthony Beauregard's ninth goal of the season. The period seemed to be a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, with the score remaining tied until the latter part of the period. Both teams were assessed several penalties during the second frame, and on a 4-on-3 power play opportunity, Mark Liwiski scored his third goal of the year with Ryan Foss assisting him by bringing the puck into the zone and dishing the pass to Liwiski, who had a wide-open net for an easy go-ahead goal.
After the Admirals scored a goal, the Lions quickly responded by tying the game two minutes later. John Parker-Jones scored his first goal of the season with a powerful slapshot, which made the game even once again. The score would remain the same for the rest of the period.
In the final period, the game was just as competitive as the second period, but no goals were scored until the latter part. The Admirals had to face multiple penalty kills, but they managed to keep the score even by killing off both PKs. It wasn't until the final four minutes of the game that the tie was broken. Josh McDougall scored his first goal of the year, which was a crucial moment in the game, and put Norfolk ahead 4-3. The Lions incurred a late cross-checking penalty, which paved the way for Norfolk's victory.
Thomas Milic made his 11th appearance in net for the Admirals and made 31 saves off of 34 shots en route to his eighth victory of the season. After winning this game, the Admirals have now won two games in a row and are only one point away from being in first place in the ECHL's North Division.

After splitting their weekend series against Jacksonville last weekend, the Norfolk Admirals took a trip up to Quebec for a three-game series against the Trois-Rivières Lions. In a highly competitive battle, the Admirals outlasted the Lions, 4-3.
It was a significant event for the Hampton Roads community as one of its own, Brandon Osmundson, made his debut with the local hockey team, the Admirals. Osmundson, who grew up playing for the Hampton Roads Whalers at the Chilled Ponds Ice Sports Complex in Chesapeake, signed on with the Admirals on Monday, fulfilling his lifelong dream of playing for his hometown team.
Norfolk quickly took the lead, with Thomas Caron scoring the first goal of the game just three minutes into the contest. Darick Louis-Jean passed the puck from the right-wing point to Caron in the middle of the ice, who shot past Zachary Bouthillier for his fourth goal of the season. Five minutes later, Justin Robidas scored his sixth goal of the season to extend the lead to 2-0. The Norfolk Admirals are in first place in the ECHL North Division. That is a statement that has not been uttered in the Hampton Roads area since their playing days in the American Hockey League (AHL). On Friday night, Norfolk won their third consecutive game, thanks to a three-goal second period and two goals from Justin Robidas that made all the difference in their 4-1 victory over Trois-Rivières.
Yaniv Perets made his return in the cage for the 11th time this season as he made 22 saves off of 23 shots to earn his fifth victory on the year.
In the first period, both teams were engaged in a defensive battle. Norfolk found themselves in the penalty box four times throughout the period, but they managed to kill off each penalty without any damage taken. On the other end, the Lions also had to kill off two penalties. The score remained even as both teams defended well.
Norfolk outshot the Lions 8-6 in the period, but they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. The score was tied at 0-0 after 20 minutes of play. However, the Admirals found a spark in their offense in the second period.
With less than five minutes left in the period, Carson Golder scored the first goal of the game to break the tie. Thomas Caron assisted with a one-time feed. Just a few minutes later, Darick Louis-Jean scored his first goal since March 17, which extended the Admirals' advantage to 2-0. He picked off the defender and scored a breakaway goal in his homecoming return to Quebec.
In the final seconds of the period, Justin Robidas scored his seventh goal of the year. He got the rebound off the initial shot from Louis-Jean to close out the Admirals' best second period of the season so far. The period ended with Norfolk leading 3-0.
Robidas scored his second goal of the night just 39 seconds into the third period, bringing his total goals for the season up to eight. However, Trois-Rivières responded quickly as Maxim Trépanier scored to break up Perets' shutout, making the score 4-1. The final period saw both teams incur several penalties, much like the first period.
Although Trois-Rivières gained momentum, the Admirals stayed the course and secured victory against the Lions.

Norfolk, VA - In front of their largest crowd of the season, the Norfolk Admirals did not disappoint. After falling to the Jacksonville Icemen on Friday, the Admirals returned the favor and scored a 4-1 victory themselves behind two goals from Stepan Timofeyev.
Yaniv Perests made his ninth appearance of the year and had a stellar performance with 22 saves made off of 23 shots.
In the opening period, it was the Admirals who struck first as Keegan Iverson wristed his shot past Matt Vernon to make it 1-0. Perets was a vital part of the Admirals as he made some big saves to keep the Admirals ahead. The lone goal from Iverson was the only score in the period.
Coming out of the break, the pace of play slowed down as teams weren't able to maintain possession on each end of the ice, but as the Admirals have struggled in the middle frame this season, that was not the case on Saturday. In the final seconds of the period, Justin Robidas netted his sixth goal of the year off the faceoff where his power-play goal made it 2-0 going into the final 20 minutes.
The Icemen vamped up their pressure early on in the third period looking to get back in the game. Just two minutes into play, Jacksonville got on the board to cut into the Admiral's two-goal advantage as Matt Iacoppeli got the puck past Perets. With it being a one-goal game, that did not phase Norfolk the rest of the way.
Timofeyev scored the last two goals for the Admirals, increasing their lead from 2-1 to 4-1, leading to a significant bounce-back victory and avoiding a sweep during the weekend. With this win, the Admirals now have a record of 11-7-1-1 (24 points) for the season, which is their best start since the 2010-2011 season.

Going into the game, the series was tied at one, with Trois-Rivières having won the previous game. However, the Admirals managed to clinch the series with a 5-2 victory on Saturday night. Carson Golder and Carson Musser both scored two goals each to help seal the win.
The momentum of the game shifted quickly to the visitor's side as they scored just six minutes into the game. Justin Ducharme scored the first goal of the game by putting away the rebound off of Thomas Milic, who initially saved Jakov Novak's shot. This gave the Lions an early lead of 1-0. Stepan Timofeyev brought the puck into the zone and passed it to Ryan Foss for an easy open-net goal, making the score even with six minutes left in the period. Norfolk had a power play opportunity in the final minutes but could not capitalize on it.
Musser scored his first goal of the season for the Admirals just 55 seconds into the second period, bringing the score to 2-1. The momentum shifted back to Norfolk as they dominated the rest of the second period, outshooting the Lions by 14-6. Milic made some crucial saves through the middle frame and kept his team ahead.
With only 20 minutes left in the game, the Admirals were still leading with a score of 2-1. They continued their winning streak by scoring three more goals in the final period. The Norfolk Admirals started a three-game series against the Trois-Rivières Lions on Wednesday, who are the top-seeded team in the North division. After losing two games last weekend, the Admirals started their Thanksgiving holidays with a 4-0 win against the Lions.
During the first two minutes of the contest, the Admirals were quick to get on the board as Keaton Jameson passed the puck to Danny Katic, who scored a goal to give them a 1-0 lead. Norfolk had a strong start as a team demonstrating a revamped offensive pressure and keeping pace with the Lions.
As the first period approached its midway point, tensions began to rise between the two teams. Despite the competitive play, the score remained 1-0 until five minutes remained in the period when Mathieu Roy scored his eighth goal of the season. He managed to score off a rebound in front of the crease, narrowly beating Joe Vrbetic to make it 2-0. The score remained unchanged for the remainder of the period.
Both teams played fiercely in the middle frame, but the score remained the same after 40 minutes.
The Admirals maintained their advantage throughout the final 20 minutes, fending off any pressure from the Lions. Despite the Lions' best efforts to cut into the Admirals' advantage, Thomas Milic, who was reassigned to Norfolk on Tuesday, prevented any damage throughout the evening.
In the final minutes of the third period, the Admirals scored a pair of insurance goals to secure their victory. Thomas Caron scored his third goal of the season with a one-time pass from Mark Liwiski, making it 3-0. A minute later, Simon Kubicek sniped his shot from the top of the point past Vrbetic to make it 4-0.
As the final seconds dwindled down, Milic secured his second professional shutout with a 28-save performance, putting Norfolk back into the win column.
