Ultra high frequency (UHF) is the ITU designation for radio frequencies in the range between 300 MHz and 3GHz, also known as the decimetre band as the wavelengths range from one meter to one decimetre. Radio waves with frequencies above the UHF band fall into the SHF (super-high frequency) or microwave frequency range. Lower frequency signals fall into the VHF (very high frequency) or lower bands. UHF radio waves propagate mainly by line of sight; they are blocked by hills and large buildings although the transmission through building walls is high enough for indoor reception. They are used for television broadcasting, cell phones, satellite communication including GPS, personal radio services including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, walkie-talkies, cordless phones, and numerous other applications.
The IEEE defines the UHF radar band as frequencies between 300MHz and 1GHz. Two other IEEE radar bands overlap the ITU UHF band: the L band between 1 and 2GHz and the S band between 2 and 4GHz.

Music video
The "UHF" music video features pastiches of several other music videos, intermixed with clips from the film. The videos parodied in the "UHF" video are:
UHF is a Portuguese rock band formed in the late 1970s in Almada by António Manuel Ribeiro (vocals, guitar and keyboard), Renato Gomes (guitar), Carlos Peres (bass) and Zé Carvalho (drums).
They were the driving force behind the Portuguese rock boom of the early 1980s. At this time very few rock bands had success singing in Portuguese.
UHF already had released their first single, "Jorge morreu" ("George died"), about a death by Overdose, when Rui Veloso, considered by many people as "the father of Portuguese rock", released his monumental first album Ar de rock ("Looks like Rock", a pun on "Hard rock", which is how it sounds in Portuguese). After Veloso's success, a second single, "Cavalos de corrida" ("Racing horses"), was released, followed by three very successful albums in Portugal: À flor da pele,Estou de passagem, and Persona non grata. The group has celebrated 35 years of existence in 2014, with the only member from the original formation being António Manuel Ribeiro, the leader and frontman of the band, and considered to be one of the best rock poets in the history of Portuguese Rock.
Sinusoidal wave going trough entire human audio spectrum, starting at 20Hz and ending at 20kHz. Note that the frequency increases exponentially, the idea was to increase the frequency by constant fraction of currently played frequency rather than by a constant value (which would result in clearly noticeable fast change at lower frequencies and nearly no change at higher frequencies). Enjoy.
Note: This wave has the same volume level measured by acoustic pressure all the time, however human sound perception differs depending on frequency. For lower frequencies (below 1kHz) you might want to increase your volume, but don't forget to lower it later to avoid damage to your hearing.

Ultra High Frequency ~ We're On The Right Track 1973 Disco Purrfection Version
Another sparkling gem from the Philly Soul music book. MFSB were the guys responsible for the success of Philadelphia International and the Salsoul Orchestra and were already in place and ready to jam in 1973!
You can tell the signature vibraphones, percussion, strings and drums belong to the one and only MFSB. If you don't hear anything below 40-50Hz even at full volume your audio hardware is probably incapable of playing lowest frequencies. You might want to try to listen on the headphones in such case. Also if you stop hearing sound somewhere between 10kHz - 20kHz - do not increase your volume for safety reasons. Every human hears a bit differently and have different hearing thresholds. Hearing range also changes with age. Younger people can usually hear higher frequencies.

I can't say enough good things about this one. Sophisticated and classy disco from 1973, this song missed the Disco Action and pop charts, but is still a highlight in the disco realm. The upbeat vocals sound hopeful, the strings evoke a picture of a sunny day with me and a pitcher of margaritas bbq-ing something with friends/family.
Norman Harris, Bobby Eli and the rest were guns for hire and played on many hit singles in the 70's under numerous band names, but their sound is unmistakable and evokes the early fascination with disco. Hope you like this one! UHF never lived up to the promise of this one and after a few non charting singles, evaporated only to return on a 1975 album called "Disco Gold".
Compiled by Scepter Records, the album presented the underground disco music that was filling the disco club floors and not really heard on the radio. Vince Aletti, disco historian supreme noted that the album contained a wide selection of club favorites, remixed and extended revitalizing these disco chestnuts for the emerging disco crowd in 1975. On the back cover was a listing of 200 disco DJ's and a note from Scepter thanking them for their support stating "Thanks, for without your help this album would not be possible."
Don't confuse this disco group with the Ultra High Frequency of 2001 which is a rock band, there is no relation at all. Aside from the four singles they released, I cannot find more information about who they were and what happened. Just one glorious song that helped to define the sound of disco.
