Lara Jennifer McAllen is a chart vocalist, singer/songwriter, and vocal producer.
Biography
Lara McAllen is the singer for the pop/dance music project Angel City. McAllen began dancing at age 5, and briefly pursued a modelling career before becoming a backing dancer for the pop singer Shakira at age 19. She then began her career as a dance music vocalist with Angel City when she signed her first recording contract with Ministry of Sound at age 20. Before Angel City, Lara found dancefloor success with Stuart's 2001 trance release "Free (Let It Be)", released through Incentive, an offshoot of Ministry of Sound.
While originally credited as a guest vocalist in Angel City, McAllen later joined the group as lead singer and performed all the tracks on the debut album "Love Me Right". McAllen had UK Top 10 records with Angel City before pursuing further work both in vocal production and songwriting. As a partner of the production company responsible for the Angel City records, McAllen worked alongside producers such as Jason Nevins, Rob Davis (Kylie Minogue) and Armin Van Buuren. She has also presented for various Sky Channels on programmes like FYC as well as featuring on TV shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks, CD:UK, Des and Mel and performing her debut single Love Me Right on Top of the Pops.
The song was one of the many hits from the jumpy handclapriddim known as the Diwali Riddim, that was also produced by Marsden.
Content
According to Wayne Wonder, the song is about a girl that he knew but he doesn't mention her name. He said in an interview with MTV in 2003 "I just wrote this song [about a girl] without calling her name in the song because she always said to me, 'You are always [calling] these other girls' names.' I said, 'I don’t have to call your name, I'll just write a song and you can appreciate it.'" He was also amazed by the success that the song had achieved, saying "Everybody loves it, which is surprising to me. When I'm writing, I don’t think [about whether the song] will be a big hit."

Reviews:
""No Letting Go" is obviously a labor of love. While the film is marvelously made, it just doesn't seem like the most commercial of productions. Instead, it's a film with a strong message and addresses a problem seldom talked about in movies...childhood mental illness.
When the film begins, Timothy is a 10 year-old who is starting to show some serious signs of anxiety--something you just wouldn't expect in a kid his age. His parents take him to therapy but it doesn't really seem to help. Then, the film jumps ahead to age 14. Now Timothy is not only anxious but seriously depressed...and with childhood depression comes a lot of other things, such as anger and unpredictability. The film not only focuses on Timothy but also on his family and how Timothy's precarious mental state effects them all in different ways. His parents' marriage is tense and difficult and his brothers obviously are affected as well. So is there any hope? Of course, as this a film about so much more than just a miserable family.
There is so much I love about this movie. The acting is very nice and most of the folks are faces you won't recognize...which is a plus because this makes them seem like a very real family. The direction by Jonathan Bucari is just amazing and the writing by Bucari and Randy Silverman shows that they know a lot about mental illness and its treatment. Considering I am a trained psychotherapist and have had to deal with mental illness in my own family, I can clearly see that they sure did their research. As a result, they offer a film with many great things to offer...hope for families...awareness of how widespread these problems are...the way it affects friends and neighbors...as well as the ways depression come out in children and teens. All in all, a great message film which not only does a great and beneficial service but is also highly engaging. It also has been taking many awards in the film festival circuit...and justified as the film has so much to offer and is so original. Fortunately, this film will be making its debut in March--so you can see it without the need of going to a film festival!"

Storyline:
Based on the multi-award winning short film Illness (2013), No Letting Go (2015) follows the story of the Spencer family whose middle son, Timothy, struggles with anxiety, depression and mood disorder. As his symptoms become more and more debilitating, his parents are faced with painfully difficult choices that will change their lives forever.
