American Indian boarding schools
American Indian boarding schools were boarding schools established in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries to educate Native American children and youths according to Euro-American standards. They were first established by Christian missionaries of various denominations, who often started schools on reservations and founded boarding schools to provide opportunities for children who did not have schools nearby, especially in the lightly populated areas of the West. The government paid religious societies to provide education to Native American children on reservations. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) founded additional boarding schools based on the assimilation model of the Carlisle Indian Industrial School.
Children were usually immersed in European-American culture through appearance changes with haircuts, were forbidden to speak their native languages, and traditional names were replaced by new European-American names (to both "civilize" and "Christianize"). The experience of the schools was often harsh, especially for the younger children who were separated from their families. In numerous ways, they were encouraged or forced to abandon their Native American identities and cultures. The number of Native American children in the boarding schools reached a peak in the 1970s, with an estimated enrollment of 60,000 in 1973. Investigations of the later twentieth century have revealed many documented cases of sexual, manual, physical and mental abuse occurring at such schools.

In the United States, Native Americans are considered to be people whose pre-Columbian ancestors were indigenous to the lands within the nation's modern boundaries. These peoples were composed of numerous distinct tribes, bands, and ethnic groups, and many of these groups survive intact today as sovereign nations. The terms Native Americans use to refer to themselves vary regionally and generationally, with many older Native Americans self-identifying as "Indians" or "American Indians", while younger Native Americans often identify as "Indigenous". Which terms should be used to refer to Native Americans has at times been controversial. The term "Native American" has been adopted by major newspapers and some academic groups, but has not traditionally included Native Hawaiians or certain Alaskan Natives, such as Aleut, Yup'ik, or Inuit peoples. Indigenous American peoples from Canada are known as First Nations.
Since the end of the 15th century, the migration of Europeans to the Americas has led to centuries of exchange and adjustment between Old and New World societies. Most Native American groups had historically lived as hunter-gatherer societies and preserved their histories by oral traditions and artwork, which has resulted in the first written sources on the conflict being authored by Europeans.

Trousers
Trousers (pants in North America) are an item of clothing worn from the waist to the ankles, covering both legs separately (rather than with cloth extending across both legs as in robes, skirts, and dresses).
In the UK the word "pants" generally means underwear and not trousers.Shorts are similar to trousers, but with legs that come down only to around the area of the knee, higher or lower depending on the style of the garment. To distinguish them from shorts, trousers may be called "long trousers" in certain contexts such as school uniform, where tailored shorts may be called "short trousers", especially in the UK.
In most of the Western world, trousers have been worn since ancient times and throughout the Medieval period, becoming the most common form of lower-body clothing for adult males in the modern world, although shorts are also widely worn, and kilts and other garments may be worn in various regions and cultures. Breeches were worn instead of trousers in early modern Europe by some men in higher classes of society. Since the mid-20th century, trousers have increasingly been worn by women as well. Jeans, made of denim, are a form of trousers for casual wear, now widely worn all over the world by both sexes. Shorts are often preferred in hot weather or for some sports and also often by children and teenagers. Trousers are worn on the hips or waist and may be held up by their own fastenings, a belt or suspenders (braces). Leggings are form-fitting trousers, of a clingy material, often knitted cotton and spandex (elastane).

Native American music
Native American music is the music that is used, created or performed by Native Americans in the United States and First Nations people of Canada, specifically traditional tribal music. In addition to the traditional music of the Native American groups, there now exist pan-tribal and inter-tribal genres as well as distinct Native American subgenres of popular music including: rock, blues, hip hop, classical, film music, and reggae, as well as unique popular styles like waila ("chicken scratch").
Characteristics
Singing and percussion are the most important aspects of traditional Native American music. Vocalization takes many forms, ranging from solo and choral song to responsorial, unison and multipart singing. Percussion, especially drums and rattles, are common accompaniment to keep the rhythm steady for the singers, who generally use their native language or non-lexical vocables (nonsense syllables). Traditional music usually begins with slow and steady beats that grow gradually faster and more emphatic, while various flourishes like drum and rattle tremolos, shouts and accented patterns add variety and signal changes in performance for singers and dancers.

Boarding school
A boarding school is a school in which most or all of the students live during the part of the year that they go to lessons. The word 'boarding' is used in the sense of "bed and board," i.e., lodging and meals. Some boarding schools also have day students who attend the institution by day and return off-campus to their families in the evenings.
Many independent (private) schools are boarding schools. Boarding school pupils (a.k.a. "boarders") normally return home during the school holidays and often weekends, but in some cultures may spend the majority of their childhood and adolescent life away from their families. In the United States, boarding schools comprise various grades, most commonly grades seven or nine through grade twelve—the high school years. Other schools are for younger children, grades two through eight. A military school, or military academy, also features military education and training. Some American boarding schools offer a post-graduate year of study to help students prepare for college entrance, most commonly to assimilate foreign students to American culture and academics before college.

For a century, the U.S government believed what was best for Native American kids was to strip them of their families and communities, their culture and language, their hair and clothes. Now, mounting research has demonstrated how this policy has decimated communities and been deadly to Native peoples. “Identification with a particular cultural background and a secure sense of cultural identity is associated with higher self-esteem, better educational attainment (grades and going to college), and is protective against mental health problems, substance use, and other issues for adolescents and adults,” a summary of research by the National Indian Child Welfare Association stated in 2017.
For 24 year old Delmar, learning about traditional practices is a way to honor her heritage and make sense of her place in the world.

Finding a perfect fit for pants is a huge challenge and although most people look at the jacket, it's a more difficult garment to fit, getting pants to fit properly is very very difficult as well and often neglected.
01:56 Components of Pants
Waistband → the strip of fabric sits around your midsection.
Front & Seat → the area around your butt, between the waistband and upper thighs
Rise → the measurement between the legs from the front of the waistband to the back; Low rise sits on the hip, mid-rise between the navel and hip, and high rise sit at the natural waist ( close to the belly button or directly on it)
Cut → the style of the trouser with regards to how close-fitting it is to the body
Inseam → the finished length of the legs of the pants, measured from the inside seam
One aspect of pants that depends on the current fashion is the fit. If you go back to the 20s, they had Oxford bags which are cut extremely wide, lots of volume, lots of fabric.
04:55 How Should Pants Fit?
A classic pair of pants should never have any puckering, pulling, or wrinkling. A wrinkle that shows that something is too tight is usually in the shape of an X and so you can always tell "Oh, something is too tight here and needs to be let out." Of course, you can only do that if there's enough fabric to let the pants out. Back in the day, tailors would use heavier fabrics that draped really well and would create a clean, nice look. Today, most fabrics are very lightweight because most people assume that they are too hot.
The second hallmark of well-fitting pants are the pleats. If you have a single center pleat, it should go down all the way to your shoe in one straight sharp creased single line and it should just slightly open up on top.
Three, the line of the pants should be straight. there should be no breaks in the front or in the back except for the amount of break on top of your shoe in the front.
The fourth thing I look at in pants is the knee area because if the crease hangs straight center in the front and in the back, you know you have a well-cut pair of pants. If it's slightly off to the side, to the outside or to the inside, you know an alterations tailor will have to make adjustments.

Overall, you may think this is a lot of things for such a simple garment and yes, our standards are quite high and personally, I would say that I only have two pairs of pants that I think fit perfectly for me so high standards are a good thing because there is always something you aspire to but don't be afraid and here are a few final tips that help you in getting pants that will fit well.
Do not buy goal pants because chances are, you won't get it in the shape you want at a point in time so the pants will never fit and stay in your closet.
Do not be afraid of pleats. Most men today think that pleats are outdated but in fact, you should just look at your body and if you have bigger thighs, a bigger seat, pleats are always more advantageous for you.
In the same vein, don't be afraid of cuffs or turn ups because they provide extra weight at the bottom of your pants.

Finding a perfect fit for pants is a huge challenge and although most people look at the jacket, it's a more difficult garment to fit, getting pants to fit properly is very very difficult as well and often neglected.
01:56 Components of Pants
Waistband → the strip of fabric sits around your midsection.
Front & Seat → the area around your butt, between the waistband and upper thighs
Rise → the measurement between the legs from the front of the waistband to the back; Low rise sits on the hip, mid-rise between the navel and hip, and high rise sit at the natural waist ( close to the belly button or directly on it)
Cut → the style of the trouser with regards to how close-fitting it is to the body
Inseam → the finished length of the legs of the pants, measured from the inside seam
One aspect of pants that depends on the current fashion is the fit. If you go back to the 20s, they had Oxford bags which are cut extremely wide, lots of volume, lots of fabric.
04:55 How Should Pants Fit?
A classic pair of pants should never have any puckering, pulling, or wrinkling. A wrinkle that shows that something is too tight is usually in the shape of an X and so you can always tell "Oh, something is too tight here and needs to be let out." Of course, you can only do that if there's enough fabric to let the pants out. Back in the day, tailors would use heavier fabrics that draped really well and would create a clean, nice look. Today, most fabrics are very lightweight because most people assume that they are too hot.
The second hallmark of well-fitting pants are the pleats. If you have a single center pleat, it should go down all the way to your shoe in one straight sharp creased single line and it should just slightly open up on top.
Three, the line of the pants should be straight. there should be no breaks in the front or in the back except for the amount of break on top of your shoe in the front.
The fourth thing I look at in pants is the knee area because if the crease hangs straight center in the front and in the back, you know you have a well-cut pair of pants. If it's slightly off to the side, to the outside or to the inside, you know an alterations tailor will have to make adjustments.

If you’re struggling to find decent trousers, pants, bottoms, or whatever you want to call them, don’t worry, you aren’t alone! A decent pair of pants is one of the most difficult things to find for the wardrobe in my opinion, but I’ve managed to find 8 pairs that I absolutely love that I’m gonna share with you! I have jeans, pleated pants, track pants, affordable options and some more luxurious options, so there should be something for everyone here!
For reference I’m 6 foot and I have a 30inch waist. I also have a 23 inch thigh if that helps and I’ll let you know the sizing of each pair of pants as we go!

Created to be your favourite all-round trekking trousers in cold conditions, Keb Agile Winter Trousers are soft-shell winter trousers made of a double-weave, four-way stretch fabric with a brushed inside that makes them both warm and extremely comfortable. Recycled polyamide, polyester and elastane blend with a DWR produced without PFAS and G-1000 Stretch reinforcements over the thigh pockets, knees and leg endings. Slightly roomier than Keb Agile Trousers to allow for thicker base layers underneath. The leg endings have a zippered gusset and are compatible with winter hiking boots. Perfect for winter excursions where you need excellent freedom of movement combined with warmth, durability and protection.

Almost three million people currently identify as Native American — despite this, their place in both our history, and the modern day, is largely ignored.
For a century, the U.S government believed what was best for Native American kids was to strip them of their families and communities, their culture and language, their hair and clothes. Now, mounting research has demonstrated how this policy has decimated communities and been deadly to Native peoples. “Identification with a particular cultural background and a secure sense of cultural identity is associated with higher self-esteem, better educational attainment (grades and going to college), and is protective against mental health problems, substance use, and other issues for adolescents and adults,” a summary of research by the National Indian Child Welfare Association stated in 2017.

American Indian boarding schools
American Indian boarding schools were boarding schools established in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries to educate Native American children and youths according to Euro-American standards. They were first established by Christian missionaries of various denominations, who often started schools on reservations and founded boarding schools to provide opportunities for children who did not have schools nearby, especially in the lightly populated areas of the West. The government paid religious societies to provide education to Native American children on reservations. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) founded additional boarding schools based on the assimilation model of the Carlisle Indian Industrial School.
Children were usually immersed in European-American culture through appearance changes with haircuts, were forbidden to speak their native languages, and traditional names were replaced by new European-American names (to both "civilize" and "Christianize"). The experience of the schools was often harsh, especially for the younger children who were separated from their families. In numerous ways, they were encouraged or forced to abandon their Native American identities and cultures. The number of Native American children in the boarding schools reached a peak in the 1970s, with an estimated enrollment of 60,000 in 1973. Investigations of the later twentieth century have revealed many documented cases of sexual, manual, physical and mental abuse occurring at such schools.

Finding a perfect fit for pants is a huge challenge and although most people look at the jacket, it's a more difficult garment to fit, getting pants to fit properly is very very difficult as well and often neglected.
01:56 Components of Pants
Waistband → the strip of fabric sits around your midsection.
Front & Seat → the area around your butt, between the waistband and upper thighs
Rise → the measurement between the legs from the front of the waistband to the back; Low rise sits on the hip, mid-rise between the navel and hip, and high rise sit at the natural waist ( close to the belly button or directly on it)
Cut → the style of the trouser with regards to how close-fitting it is to the body
Inseam → the finished length of the legs of the pants, measured from the inside seam
One aspect of pants that depends on the current fashion is the fit. If you go back to the 20s, they had Oxford bags which are cut extremely wide, lots of volume, lots of fabric.
04:55 How Should Pants Fit?
A classic pair of pants should never have any puckering, pulling, or wrinkling. A wrinkle that shows that something is too tight is usually in the shape of an X and so you can always tell "Oh, something is too tight here and needs to be let out." Of course, you can only do that if there's enough fabric to let the pants out. Back in the day, tailors would use heavier fabrics that draped really well and would create a clean, nice look. Today, most fabrics are very lightweight because most people assume that they are too hot.
The second hallmark of well-fitting pants are the pleats. If you have a single center pleat, it should go down all the way to your shoe in one straight sharp creased single line and it should just slightly open up on top.
Three, the line of the pants should be straight. there should be no breaks in the front or in the back except for the amount of break on top of your shoe in the front.
The fourth thing I look at in pants is the knee area because if the crease hangs straight center in the front and in the back, you know you have a well-cut pair of pants. If it's slightly off to the side, to the outside or to the inside, you know an alterations tailor will have to make adjustments.
07:45 Final Tips for Great-Fitting Pants
Overall, you may think this is a lot of things for such a simple garment and yes, our standards are quite high and personally, I would say that I only have two pairs of pants that I think fit perfectly for me so high standards are a good thing because there is always something you aspire to but don't be afraid and here are a few final tips that help you in getting pants that will fit well.
Do not buy goal pants because chances are, you won't get it in the shape you want at a point in time so the pants will never fit and stay in your closet.
Do not be afraid of pleats. Most men today think that pleats are outdated but in fact, you should just look at your body and if you have bigger thighs, a bigger seat, pleats are always more advantageous for you.
In the same vein, don't be afraid of cuffs or turn ups because they provide extra weight at the bottom of your pants.

If you’re struggling to find decent trousers, pants, bottoms, or whatever you want to call them, don’t worry, you aren’t alone! A decent pair of pants is one of the most difficult things to find for the wardrobe in my opinion, but I’ve managed to find 8 pairs that I absolutely love that I’m gonna share with you! I have jeans, pleated pants, track pants, affordable options and some more luxurious options, so there should be something for everyone here!
For reference I’m 6 foot and I have a 30inch waist. I also have a 23 inch thigh if that helps and I’ll let you know the sizing of each pair of pants as we go!

Created to be your favourite all-round trekking trousers in cold conditions, Keb Agile Winter Trousers are soft-shell winter trousers made of a double-weave, four-way stretch fabric with a brushed inside that makes them both warm and extremely comfortable. Recycled polyamide, polyester and elastane blend with a DWR produced without PFAS and G-1000 Stretch reinforcements over the thigh pockets, knees and leg endings. Slightly roomier than Keb Agile Trousers to allow for thicker base layers underneath. The leg endings have a zippered gusset and are compatible with winter hiking boots. Perfect for winter excursions where you need excellent freedom of movement combined with warmth, durability and protection.
