The National Party (Afrikaans:Nasionale Party) was a political party in South Africa founded in 1915 and first became the governing party of the country in 1924. It was in opposition during the World War II years but returned to power and was again in government from 4 June 1948 until 9 May 1994. At this time, it began implementing its policy of separate development, known as 'apartheid'. Members of the National Party were sometimes known as Nationalists or Nats. The policies of the party included apartheid, the establishment of a republic, and the promotion of Afrikaner culture.
During the 1980s, large fractions of the party's support base left for the Conservative Party, unhappy about the party's gradual dismantling of the Apartheid system. After 1990, the NP opened up its membership to all race groups and rebranded itself as a non-racial, conservative political force. It participated in the Government of National Unity between 1994 and 1996.
In an attempt to better distance itself from its past, the party was renamed the New National Party in 1997. The attempt was largely unsuccessful and the new party was disbanded in 2005.
The Hawaiian National Party also known as the Young Hawaiian Party, King's Party or Government Party was a political party in Hawaii under King David Kalākaua, formed to support him in the event of a second election held after the death of Lunalilo.
Uruguay is a station on Line B of the Buenos Aires Underground. It is located at the intersection of Avenida Corrientes and Calle Uruguay, near to the Courthouse and in the middle of the city's main theatre district.
Sixteen countries have been FIFA World Cup hosts in the competition's twenty tournaments since the inaugural World Cup in 1930. The organization was at first awarded to countries at meetings of FIFA's congress. The choice of location was controversial in the earliest tournaments, given the three-week boat journey between South America and Europe, the two centres of strength in football at the time.
The decision to hold the first cup in Uruguay, for example, led to only four European nations competing. The next two World Cups were both held in Europe. The decision to hold the second of these, the 1938 FIFA World Cup, in France was controversial, as the American countries had been led to understand that the World Cup would rotate between the two continents.
Both Argentina and Uruguay thus boycotted the tournament. The first tournament following World War II, held in Brazil in 1950, had three teams withdrawing due to either financial problems or disagreements with the organization.

South Africa election count continues in closest election for 30 years | BBC News
The counting of the votes has started in what is seen as South Africa's most closely fought elections since the African National Congress came to power 30 years ago.
Wednesday's election saw long lines of voters outside polling stations late into the night across the country.
The key issues for voters were widespread corruption in government, high levels of unemployment and rampant crime.
A record 70 parties and 11 independents were running, with South Africans voting for a new parliament and nine provincial legislatures.
More than 27 million people were registered to cast their ballots, including a high percentage of young voters.

South Africa's Electoral Commission is to hold a media briefing on the progress made following Wednesday's National Elections.
Millions of South Africans went to the polls on May 29 for national and provincial elections that could test the African National Congress’s (ANC’s) 30-year rule.
Partial results are expected over the next three days, with final results likely on Sunday, according to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC).
