The National Highway 25 or N-25 is a highway located in Sindh and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan. It is often referred to as the RCD Highway or Regional Cooperation for Development Highway, linking Karachi and Quetta.
Route
The N-25 National Highway or RCD Highway connects Balochistan with a number of provinces and cities in Pakistan, Iran and Turkey. It is 813km long, passing through Karachi, Bela, Khuzdar, Kalat, Quetta and Chaman and continuing into Afghanistan, It then joins N-40 (National Highway 40 Quetta-Taftan International Border Circuit) which leads it via Naukundi to Road 84 in Iran and through various Iranian Highways to Turkey and onwards Europe. The highway also has a recent connection to Gwadar. It also passes through many towns in Balochistan. Over 150 commercial vans and coaches move between the port city of Karachi and Quetta. It is a major road for Balochistan, connecting the province with the rest of Pakistan.
History
The RCD Highway was constructed under a treaty between Pakistan, Iran and Turkey and was first constructed during the regime of Sardar Attaullah Mengal as Chief Minister of Balochistan.
Japan has a nationwide system of national highways(一般国道,Ippan Kokudō) distinct from the expressways. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and other government agencies administer the national highways. Beginning in 1952, Japan classified these as Class 1 or Class 2. Class 1 highways had one- or two-digit numbers, while Class 2 highways had three-digit numbers. For example, Routes 1 and 58 were Class 1 highways while 507 (the one with the highest number) was a Class 2 highway.
A 1964 amendment to the governing law resulted in a unification of the classes, which took effect in April of the following year. Highways numbered since that time have had three-digit numbers, so the numbers 58–100, which had so far been unused, remained unused. However, when Okinawa Prefecture was reverted to Japanese control in 1972, Route 58, with its southern endpoint in Okinawa's capital city of Naha, was established. The numbers from 59 to 100 remain unused. Some other numbers have been vacated by the joining or changing of routes: 109 (joined with 108), 110 (renumbered as 48), 111 (renumbered as 45), 214–216 (joined to form 57).

These highways measured over 96,260km (59,810mi) as of 2015, including over 1,000km (620mi) of limited-accessexpressways (motorways). Out of 96,260km of national highways 22,900 plus km are at least 4 laned with the remaining 50,000km 2 laned. Indian government has set itself a target of construct and upgrade 30km of highway per day (11,000km per year) from 2017 and all new construction will be using cement concrete instead of bitumen.
In India, National Highways are at-grade roads whereas Express Highways, commonly known as Expressways, are controlled-access highways, mostly 6-lane or above, where entrance and exit is controlled by the use of slip roads (ramps) that are incorporated into the design of the highway. The highways do not have shoulder lanes. The speed on highway is mostly unregulated and is mostly slowed by heavy trucks in middle lanes. The highways are also used by pedestrians and cyclists creating dangerous situations.
