Fresh Tunes #1 ft Colonel Abrams - Do You Know What I Mean? (Original Mix) 1994
Classic House Music... Colonel Abrams (May 25, 1949 - November 25, 2016) was an American singer, urban contemporary musician, songwriter, dancer, and actor. Died November 25 2016. He became popular on the New York underground scene via radio and club play, and had his first major hit in 1984 with "Music Is the Answer" on the independent label Streetwise. Other hits in the mid 1980s included "Leave the Message Behind the Door", "Trapped" (a top ten hit in the UK, Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands), "The Truth", "Speculation", "I'm Not Gonna Let You" and "Over and Over", establishing Abrams as a solo artist, initially in Europe and later in the US.
"Do You Know What I Mean" samples Colonel Abrams lyrics from his song "The Truth".

As far as I know, released only to KPWR106, there is a special edit of "U Got Me Up" that mixes the "Cajmere's Underground Goodies Mix" with "E-Smoove Got Me Up Mix." Both versions are available separately - Cajmere's version on iTunes (link provided); while E-Smoove's mix is hard to find, possibly out of print. The only person who might be able to tell me about whether this "Lost Mix" exists is none other than the legendary DJ Richard "Humpty" Vission.
What you are hearing is a rough copy of "U Got Me Up" as I originally heard it back in the 90's. It may not sound exactly like this, but the fact that both sounds were joined as one is significant. This song was recreated using Adobe Audition 3, utilizing the vinyl rips of "E-Smoove Got Me Up Mix" and "Cajmere's Underground Goodies Mix," and the MP3 release of "Cajmere's Underground Goodies Mix" (starting the song with softer percussion). I am highly aware of the vinyl quality sound, but that's what I was stuck with.
Another thing: it is NOT the B96 Chicago version that Murfreebar uploaded to his personal account.
If anyone has any information about this lost remix, post here. I am also encouraging the original artists (Dajae, Cajmere, E-Smoove and others) and other DJs to check out this so-called unreleased version to see if they can provide me with details I may have missed. The purpose of uploading this song is only to learn of its existence, if it does exists. Once I have all the answers, THIS SONG WILL BE DELETED.

Strictly Rhythm is an American house-music record label. Strictly Rhythm Records artists include Erick Morillo, Todd Terry, Louie Vega, Kenny Dope, Armand Van Helden, DJ Pierre, Roger Sanchez, Josh Wink, Ultra Naté, and Barbara Tucker. Songs recorded for the label include Reel 2 Real’s “I Like To Move It,” Planet Soul's "Set You Free, Logic's "The Warning", Hardrive's "Deep Inside", Ultra Naté’s “Free,” Wamdue Project’s “King Of My Castle,” and Wink’s “Higher State Of Consciousness.”
Strictly Rhythm relaunched in 2007 after a five-year break following a venture with Warner Music. The label made some of its releases available on digital download, and signed new productions from Quentin Harris, Osunlade, Chocolate Puma, Dennis Ferrer, Dirty South and Bob Sinclar. Three years later, in November 2010, the label opened a London office.
Strictly Rhythm is now allowing both new and established artists through its joint-venture label set-up, the Strictly Rhythm Music Group, which currently has 20 labels with partners in the US, UK, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Australia, and Ireland. Recent signings include Jupiter Ace (Big Vision), and Richard Grey (Superficial).
Strictly Rhythm has offices in New York, London, Rome, and Berlin.
In January 2013, BMG Rights Management agreed to acquire the Strictly Rhythm catalogue and publishing rights for an undisclosed cost.
